Who knows what goes on backstage?

Maybe a combination of things. I was totally unimpressed with him as Chance.

I don't believe TPTB have to give any reason if the termination is at the end of a contract cycle.

It's a  pity that the role of Chance has been tainted by this.

But the same thing happened with Nate and Sean Dominic was a successful recast so maybe next Chance will be better.

Had they not married off Chance and Abby it would have been easier to drop him for a few weeks and create an opportunity for  angst in the ongoing Chance/Abby romance.

Someone on twitter cited his good morals. Werr they talking about the character or the actor? The character can easily be brought back by spring.

I have been trying to imply and flat out state this, in more than one post now.

The company doesn't have to cite a reason for not extending a contract.

If they've done so, it's more as a courtesy (probably not wanting to look like the "bad guy"), not due to any legal obligation.

I know it's not funny but I admit, I chuckled. Personally, I am not surprised they lied. Y&R just doesn't care at this point. Whatever's the path of least resistance.

A recasted Chance will be back in six weeks.

Or maybe Boaz lied? Oh well, y'all let me know who they decide on as the next Chance.

You are correct about the taping schedule vs scripts, but I would imagine you’d have to have scripts in order to give a taping schedule and we know the shows are written months in advance, as we see whenever there is a HW swap. Also insiders are saying the mass firing he’s speaking of isn’t happening.

    • OH, I AM.   And it looks like it's a pretty good episode so I might watch later on this weekend after work cuz I see a lot of scenes with people I actually like. Very happy to see Rocco/Danny appear to be getting story, too.
    • I do agree that a revival of EON would work, if it doesn't fall into doing all of the typical soap opera tropes... which it became guilty of in the final few years of the show with the over abundance of Raven/Sky at the expense of the actual detectives, police, etc. And I know it was mentioned earlier that Raven had lost any true connections on the show with the death of her on screen mother, and the loss of April/Draper/Deborah.. and I do agree with that. I actually thought the show would have done something with the Shelley character that could have connected her to the Raven character.  There were a few scenes where the two would have scenes and size one another up before they would go their separate ways.. so I assumed perhaps they would have been revealed as half-siblings and/or perhaps cousins.  Alas.. not to be.
    • It definitely flowed beautifully. So much that I was annoyed when Vanessa/Doug because I wanted to get back to the party. I know it was intentional to build up tension and suspense. It worked. lol. I'm glad it was there in hingsight because it gave us that great conversation between Doug and Vanessa. Foreshadowing? And yesss!!! This episode was sooo old school soap giving beat after beat after beat leading up to the unveiling of Eva as Ted's daughter. And we still have plenty of fallout/aftereffects to work through.   Speaking of...Bill, Bill, Bill lol. Good to have confirmation HE was the scary lawyer.   I'm sure I will have a busy Monday, but I can't wait for it. I don't know what I'm looking forward to more. Probably Anita vs Silk Press Sheila tbh. And yes, I feel they will be matching each other 'blow for blow.'
    • And if they go there, it could also be tied to Johnny completely cutting him off, possibly going to work for Titan, etc.
    • @AbcNbc247 maybe it is just that they've gone to that well too often, and I don't like when DAYS goes dark, but I'm OK with EJ abusing drugs, and just skipping the whole sobriety part. Side note: experiencing hallucinations of my son killing me would be enough for me to never want to take a pill again.

    • Part of the reason that Courtney worked at OLTL was because the show had an actual character for her to play.  One that was somewhat different than her character on AW, and after the way she was treated over at AW.. it had to have been nice to be courted onto a new soap that actually valued your contributions.
    • I figured the "long" was already implied
    • You'll be very impressed
