I did like all the classic flashbacks. And family moments. But the whole things revolved around Sonny. Who even does a voice over at the beginning. Sounding like the late Dr.Steve Hardy. Still it was nice seeing Bobbie and Felicia. Even though JZ plastic surgery face is very off putting. Monica smiling as she watched Carson dancing was so out of character.

Yeah, that was one thing I didn't like. I know they'd tried to push that "Don't hold on to your anger" stuff for Monica, but I feel like it wasn't enough. If it was me, when it came out that Sonny had killed AJ, I would have had Monica shoot the bastard lol that way she would have an actual reason, and a good one at that, to let go of her anger.

Okay, jumping into catch up mode for this week...

...please don't tell me rather than have a secret talk that Chase and Sasha decided to trick Michael and Willow into marrying each other. Just ugh!!!

I see that the next leg of the Baby Wiley storyline has dropped with more people learning that Julian knew. And now the secret has dropped into NELLE'S hands. What to do, what to do. Good to see a villainess at work.

And I see a LUCY!!! lol. More later...diving into most of 5-12...

I just ff through a bunch of episodes to catch up.  I can’t stand the flashbacks, so I’m back to watching when I have literally nothing else I want to watch lol.

Was Chase in the shower the first scene like this since Frank arrived?  I seem to recall a man or couple in a shower was a staple on his OLTL.  Also- its been a long time since I have seen an actual tongue involved in a soap kiss.  So good job Willow.  It’s usually the most pursed and stiff lips just pressed together.

Unlike a lot of folks around here, I actually like Willow, Sasha, Michael, and Chase.  What I do not like is that except for Michael, they are not connected to anyone we care about on the show.  No core family to talk to, etc.  Imagine if Sasha had been one of Lucy’s kids?  I will forever think the couple that should be together is Michael and Chase though.  But I like them.  Even the marrying for the reasons they are is a classic soap storyline.

It is well past time that Julian was off the show.

The Quartermaines have art only on one wall it seems.  I guess Monica’s new decorator really wanted minimalism.

The lame music is awful.  If there are going to be lyrics, they need to pay for real music or go back to a score only.

Laura’s apartment!  I do like that set.

In one week’s shows, I noticed Maxie, Lulu, Anna, and Olivia all wearing a variation of the same blouse- billowy sleeves,  v neck or open neck, with a pattern.  It wasn’t noticeable until the scene with Lulu and Olivia wearing almost the same shirt just in different pattern colors.  And every woman over 40 had on a blazer lol.

Agreed. I can see why some people consider them boring but I still see potential with all four of them. And it probably would be a lot better if at least Josh and Katelyn played already established characters instead of newbies.

And I’m also hoping Julian goes off to prison when it comes out he was responsible for Brad and Lucas’ accident

After watching most of last week, my I wish I was writing this brain took over.

Two years from now, if they build it right, Willow has the makings of a great psycho. Chase and Brooklyn end up together, Michael and Willow end up together, but he ends up cheating on her with Sasha, who he is actually in love with (maybe he invests in Deception, and they keep being thrown together).  She does some light scheming (maybe fakes an illness or a pregnancy to drag it out, but he really does love Sasha more).  She has lost everything, by trying to do the right thing for Wylie. The kid, Michael, and Chase.  Thanks to her own history, she snaps.

I don’t think so, at least not for a while. Nelle told Julian that if anything happens to her, Martin will send a letter to Sonny that reveals that Julian was responsible for the accident and that he knew about the baby switch

Sounds good.

I’m sure everyone on here can write better then what we’ve been seeing

The show squandered so much potential with the Michael/Willow/Sasha/Chase/Nelle group, even with the lackluster actresses playing Sasha and Willow. Willow should be showing signs of a dangerous attachment to Wylie, which should be a concern for Chase. Michael should be oblivious to this as he and Willow grow closer. And Sasha's more sinister side should be emerging not only in keeping Wylie away from Nelle, but as Willow and Michael grow closer.  It pretty much writes itself.

So I was in the grocery store for a light bulb and saw the latest SOD and it sounded like the last of the filmed stuff is this week because it was giving a preview of what was in that last week.

Definitely intrigued. And with those Y&R classics and DAYS being decent, it looks like a busy week. But...I got most of my work hours back this week so I will be behind. lol.

So does anyone know if this is for sure the last week for filmed stuff?

I agree with that re: Willow, Sasha, Michael, Chase which I feel they were doing as I'm caught up to last week. Sasha with Lucy (good choice and hope that leads into a mentor schemer relationship given I think Sasha/Chase tricked Willow and Michael into marrying), Chase technically has his brother Finn which they could rope Anna into since they are both in the law department I think. And then Willow it depends on how the lost Nina child story goes I believe. If anything shouldn't Laura or Monica or even Olivia be like a mentor of sorts?

I saw that, too!!! I saw the Deception photoshoot episode yesterday and I could not help but notice that Maxie and Lulu were dressed exactly the same. I lol.

    • I agree.  Rena doesn't seem to mind the lighter workload and seems happy. Strangely, a lot of the veteran cast are without viable love interests-Sonny, Nina, Lois, Jason, Tracy, Alexis, Carly (Brennan doesn't count).  The show lacks serious interest in romance.
    • I just can't wait until next week when we can go back to a full weeks worth of episodes. 3 episodes and a mid-week gap has been so difficult to deal with, especially in light of how good the show is.
    • I always hoped they'd change Parker's paternity back to Phillip.  I guess it doesn't matter since Chloe is off the show currently.  I don't recall Holly or Maggie mentioning Parker, so it's not they are close to him.
    • I’ve reached the summer of 1998.  Until now, my impression has been that the show has steadily improved since the great quality dip of 1994, reaching as high as 8/10 in 1997. Sure, I could complain about a few things in 1997 (Claudia got wasted after her initial storyline; Thorne’s feelings for Taylor were a bit too sudden; the storyline where Sheila lived with James and Maggie while pregnant got rather boring; Mike periodically revisiting Sheila despite being on the run from authorities), but overall it was a very strong year.  I liked the Thorne/Taylor/Ridge triangle, the mystery plot about who shot Grant, the sham wedding to trap Sheila, Stephanie/Eric/Lauren, and Clarke manipulating his way back to working at Forrester. I even liked the Greenland storyline with Eric/Lauren/Rush, although I had expected to hate it. Maybe 1996 tops 1997 in raw soapy excitement (especially as Sheila got a chance to interact with a larger canvas of characters), but certain problems with overall storyline cohesion puts it somewhat below 1997 for me. Unfortunately, 1998 has turned out to be a bit of a speedbump, perhaps on par with 1995 levels of quality: - Maggie’s character really got trashed after James left her to be with Sheila, and the early 1998 storylines where she imprisoned Sheila in the house from Psycho, or installed those wires and mikes and such in her house to make her think she’s going crazy, were total GARBAGE. So much so that the latter storyline (and Maggie with it) pretty much disappeared into a limbo.  - I have mixed feelings about the twins plotline with Lauren. No way did Rush survive being shot with a crossbow through the chest, and the romance between Lauren and Rush’s good twin brother Johnny was rather dry to me. I did however enjoy the camp aspect of Rush taking his brother’s place to be with Lauren, and Eric rescuing her. But it doesn’t appear like Bell cared too much about the Johnny/Lauren romance beyond the twin storyline gimmick, and it too disappeared in an unsatisfactory manner (come on, why not hire Johnny’s actor for just 5 more episodes for an arc where he realizes Lauren is not over Eric, or JUST SOMETHING?) - Clarke wormed his way back to FC in late 1997, which had exciting storytelling potential, but then he disappeared almost entirely. Sad to see my favorite character wasted in this manner. Does he get anything interesting to do between now and the Morgan saga of 2000-2001? - The Thomas saga was entertaining in 1997, but it got stretched out too much, and made some of early 1998 tiresome, with Ridge having to decide YET AGAIN which woman he wants to be with. On the plus side, I like the plotline of Thorne being neighbors with Macy and Grant, and we’ve finally been introduced to the SORASed Rick/Amber/CJ crowd. The Stephanie/James/Sheila triangle is also starting, and it makes me excited (I remember seeing some if it in my childhood). I know Sheila, Grant, and James are all leaving soon, which I honestly kind of dread - between them and Clarke’s near-absence, it feels like herd is going to get culled too much in the near future. But I know there’s the familiar 1999-2002 to look forward to.
    • LOL - this is a perfect description, and that's what I loved about it! May be a bit campy, but it immediately caught my attention in a good way.  I'm not familiar with the Fishing Trip storyline, I'll have to look that up. I've noticed that about Josh, which has made him less attractive to me overall. He just yells a lot when he's not happy. Wow, Reva was married to HB!  LOL - "Always... eventually, and again"
    • I love your ideas. I would love to see Jack grown up this confused unhinged individual. He should hold a grudge against both Brooke and Taylor.

    • Lois's return has been a bust. So disappointing that the writers have never written for her. As with Tracy, the pool of GH vets is so thin, there's no one to pair her with. Doubtful they would go to the trouble of properly recasting a legacy character and then sticking  him with Lois; they're obviously not that invested. If she wants to be on this show, it'll be as a noisy grandma who stays in the background.
    • I love me some Anita and TT. They need to give her a good storyline and I know that it's coming.
    • @Franko Thanks for tagging me. A few days ago I was talking in another thread about the rise of "snarky" critics for TV shows in the '90s online recaps, but this is just more along the lines of a mauling. There's also the unspoken reality that films like Steel Magnolias were seen as movies for women, so therefore they sucked. Pauline Kael also had her share of blunt, at times incredibly nasty remarks, but the vitriol is often balanced by her love for film. I'm not seeing that here.  With that said, the comment about Field's work becoming unbearable describes how I felt when I tried to sit through her and Maura Tierney on ER.
