lol. Just don't say their names three times

I'd say they're similar with the hard bodied Nathan, Chase, etc. not much different though I like Paevey and Swickard far better than any of the brothers on OLTL.

I'm so tired of the ass kissing.

 and extra  for Lurch

Just bitching about Frank and figured you'd like to chime in. He was just as messy on OLTL, etc.

I would gladly take a Ford brother over the dud hunks Frank/ABC has hired over and over since he landed at GH.  Chase has been the only one I could stand.  Not that I loved the Fords, but still.

And yes, everyone has forgotten what saved the show and drove ratings up when he and Ron got there.  Yes, we had to sit through Todd, Starr, and McBain eating up airtime.  But we also got vets returning left and right, the Robin story (which was dragged out and therefore made for a payoff because of KMc), etc.  There was energy, lots of mini stories being woven around longer term stories.  It was not perfect, but it was so much better than JFP and Guza/Wolf had given us for the last couple of years.

Once bland as all get out Passanante took over, the show has stayed lethargic except for that bright spot from the late fall until February-ish.

Lol don't worry I won't.

But I guess we can add Brando to that list now lol

Agreed.

I thought those first years of Frank and Ron were really good. The OLTL invasion didn't even bother me, but around 2015 it just seem to fall apart. Since then, the show's sort of been bouncing back and forth between good and lousy. Sadly, lousy seems to be winning the battle, but I'm sure some of that was probably Frank and Varni.

Someone posted a short video clip of the new Corinthos house and its possibly the worst thing I've seen in regards to re-designing sets.  There's way too much going on in that small space.  The colors are not Sonny at all.  The kitchen is too large for that space.  It looks like an apartment where someone is trying to be retro and don't realize more things only make it look smaller.

First Sam dressing like Dorothy Zbornak and now this?!  How do you guys stand it?  Where's the escape soaps are supposed to provide?

Remember when Frank got a wet one when he saw Mikey Jerome?  His tongue sticking out....lol. He quickly won ...the who wants to be a soap star even though there were much better actors to choose from..

The set is horrible.

And Monaco looks drunk or on something most of the time now, IMO.

It was definitely better. A lot of that was Ron. Frank didn't try keeping most of them around, except Bobbie, Scott, Kevin and Felicia, all of whom are reduced to being a dayplayer most of the time. None of them are on contract or used well. That also falls on the writers, of course. But I'm guessing they're limited in who they can use and when based on budget.

Frank also dumped Genie back then too, for example (and Ron got all pissy because Geary didn't want LnL reunited so off Laura went). He'd never dump Erika Slezak.

The show was shifting around 2014. You could tell Ron had no interest in writing Franco and Nina (LSD trip anyone?). We also got Billy Miller as Drew and AJ and Duke were shoved out and killed again (this was Ron but Frank is the producer). It became a mess.

LOL yep. He has a type and it's SO obvious even Stevie Wonder could see it.

Yep. Now it's Nelle running around. Lucy's still an extra. I'd love for Lucy to get even half the airtime Nina does.

Yeah they did. We haven't seen it in forever. We barely even see Kevin and now Laura just floats around town.

One of the reasons I think having a set like the Brownstone is so great, especially when a show has a limited budget, is that it places characters together in an organic way.  You had the courtyard, the front steps, Bobbie’s part of the house, the stairs and apartments.  Maxie, Lulu, and people like Chase or Willow could be living there.

Felicia’s apartment was not a large set, and it lead to conversations with Bobbie and other tenants all the time.

    • Kelly was a horribly-written character overall. Just think, two Emmy-winning actresses (including Cynthia Watros, Nina, GH, and Annie, GL) couldn't make it work. Pamela is campy, but so are Dani, Vanessa, Leslie, and Joey. And, I don't want to be too judgy because my love for camp changes depending on the show. OLTL, DAYS, and some eras of GH had me rolling with the camp. However, Passions was overkill and I hated it. And, here, I can take it or leave it. It's ok in small doses (note to RC). I see this show as more of a serious drama.
    • I think one of the reasons that pilot didn't get picked up was because Vicki L was associated more with being Thelma Harper and playing older then she was playing her own age.  It was a blessing it didn't get picked up, or we would have been deprived of the syndicated era of Mama's Family.   Also, worth noting a Pre Night Court Marsha Warfield and pre Perfect Strangers Rebecca Arthur in the cast.  All talented women, but stuck with a bad script. And the other pilot had a pre Fran Fine.. Fran Drescher as the best friend.  I think that pilot might have been picked up if Karen Valentine and Fran Drescher switched roles.
    • So, on rewatch....did Rick and Mindy never have sex?
    • Cady had a fairly posh accent or manner as Rosanna - the character was a 180 from Dixie when she went to ATWT, and it was a huge success initially. As someone mostly only familiar with the nagging, miserable or clueless Dixie of the mid-late '90s and early 2000s it was what convinced me Cady could act. I thought she was incredible in her first run. Later, in future stints, her hair and story and performances were all over the place but a lot of that was down to the show for me. She brought some of Rosanna back with her to Dixie in her ill-fated return and a lot of people didn't like it, which I understood but I did think the character needed some change. I think she's had a little bit of the same persona and arch performance in every role she's played since, including Jennifer Horton at DAYS or Kelly at Y&R, who later became a maniac and was easily the worst work I've ever seen Cady do. It has kind of infected her overall mannerisms, I'll allow that, but I do think she brought Dixie back together as herself while still evolving the character when she returned to AMC again in 2012-13. Nonetheless, for me the upshot is that this is a character where Cady's kookier recent performance style suits the role. But I can understand it grating for people.
    • Yeah, Loretta Swit's passing stings. My late dad LOVED the show (he died last November) and watched it religiously. In first run and repeats.  And I was literally born the day after the show's premiere, so I grew up with it! I know many loved later, softer Margaret, but I loved Early Hot Lips. In real life, I'm all for less misogyny, but to me, the early years of M*A*S*H were just funnier. May Loretta Swit rest in peace. Thanks for all the memories connected to my dad!

    • I agree that she isn't Dixie or Rosanna and shouldn't be acting like either. I just found it strange that she had a naive Southern character and a wealthy urbane character in the past and didn't experiment with accents before (unless I missed it, correct me if I'm wrong). She used to do improv characters on YouTube. She's probably doing something similar here.

    • And here I thought I'd never think about Lauren Tewes again after her brief appearance in Twin Peaks Season 3.
    • I may be the single person who does not mind Transatlantic Campy Pamela. I think it perfectly suits this sort of Absolutely Fabulous-esque supporting character she's playing much more than it did when Cady tried weird and often broad stuff at AMC* or Y&R, or later stints at ATWT. She's not Dixie and she's not trying to be. I will freely admit some of the other chances she took at other shows often came off stiff, hammy or downright mortifying (Kelly Andrews, come on down). (* - and I say that as one of the few who was somewhat into Cady trying to make Dixie more cosmopolitan in the Rosanna Cabot mold in mid-2000s AMC, just to liven the character up again)
    • There’s absolutely nothing exciting happening storyline wise but I’m always happy to see the vets on my screen so I’ll take what I can get. It’s also just nice to see them all dressed up in the same room, it always gives classic Y&R vibes. The best part? No Phyllis.
