Gawd, remember the days (HA!) when Langan and Stephen Wyman would assault our senses with those ridiculous end-of-episode freeze frames and other optical effects? I can only imagine the amount of cash (and cocaine) they blew (up their noses) on THAT [!@#$%^&*]. I just remember watching reruns of THE DOCTORS, being amazed at how much drama they could spin from using, like, two sets and ten characters; and thinking DAYS could follow that lead now and be okay. (God knows they employ as many time-killing flashbacks on a regular basis as the Pollocks did at the former show!) Edited November 22, 20196 yr by Khan
November 22, 20196 yr Member It's not like NBC doesn't have the money, they just refuse to spend it on DAYS. Not when they can give it their rotating Today Show idiots.

If they start in early January, they will still be 6-7 months ahead. Clearly we all agree is far from optimal, but if its the only way to keep the show going.... Taping this week. I must have forgotten to update the production schedule? Thanks for the reminder!
November 22, 20196 yr Member i wonder if they moved the taping back to January cause they were worried if they waited til April, some actors may have moved on

Even with the cast's lack of other prospects, it was a huge gamble to leave them uncommitted for that long... for example, even though Kris Alfonso seems like a lifer, what if she walked and Hope Williams was left without a proper ending??? But now we're not filling the tape-air gap in any meaningful way. So we're still f'd. They were stuck between a rock and a hard spot.
November 22, 20196 yr Member @JAS0N47 Thank you for creating such a definitive resource! I'm glad you'll be able to continue adding to your site. I just noticed that DAYS went dark for 8 weeks from mid-Nov 16 to mid-Jan 17. So this upcoming gap isn't unprecedented. Perhaps they'll have more dark week blocks during the year. And unless NBC decides to give an early renewal, I'm sure we'll see a repeat of the contract cancellation next year.

Or to Jimmy Fallon, whose Tonight Show audience has decreased from 11 million viewers to less than two million five years after his debut -- that's roughly the same as DAYS! But the network continues to pay Fallon a mammoth salary and spend endless amounts on Tonight Show promotion while giving DAYS the short shrift.

November 22, 20196 yr Member Very excited about this news. I keep saying I'm going to jump in and watch the time jump stuff but other things keep popping up. Days is my soap though, so I'm happy.

Just looking back at 2013, Leno's final year, his weekly average was less than 4 million, closer to 3 million on any given night. Late-night, like everything else on broadcast TV, has lost a lot of viewership over the years. 10 hours ago, victoria foxton said: Gotta love his passion! #SoapLivesMatter lol! Glad DAYS has been renewed another year! Glad for the actors and crew, and for another year of us all here poking fun at their cheap ass sets.

I doubt any of them would leave (except maybe Nichols and Victoria Konefal). But hey, you never know, the right offer comes along .... Apparently the filming break was never really about getting less ahead. Even though they acknowledged it's a problem. It was simply a cost savings hiatus. I also imagine fan outcry (the show hasn't had this much buzz in a very long time) pushed the negotiations along and they realize they're better off returning sooner than later. But if they resume in January, we're still 8 months ahead, and that really is a problem. Edited November 22, 20196 yr by KMan101
