It's easy to forget that from their point of view Brandon Barash was brought in as an emergency recast for an actor / character that wasn't working, so of course they probably thought they could safely kill him off. Of course, then Stefan / Gabi took off and because of filming 30 years in advance they couldn't take notice of this and modify their plans.

ETA: This would've been filmed in February and I believe Barash started airing in March, so...

Agreed. Plus, why kill Stefan even if the recast was a stop gap? Just send him away with Vivian and then bring him back with a proper recast if BB didn't work out. If DAYS is determined to keep the DiMera's on canvas, then stop it! Without Chad or EJ, the show clearly wanted a younger male DiMera (aka not Tony/Andre) to lead the family. The original problems with Stefan ended up being worked out some tweaks to the writing and an engaging actor. After all, EJ did rape Sami and he overcame that.

Bouncing back from the removal of your heart is a tough one, but I guess Jack survived the removal of some vital organs. Still, I'd be happy to see Barash back as a completely new character. He and Camila Banus definitely have chemistry, but I never bought him as the son of Stephano and Vivian -- to me, he comes across more as a Midwest insurance agent than a man who controls the DiMera and Alamain legacies.

lol. I found Barash to be a much better DiMera than Tyler Christopher ever was.

The new younger DiMera's feel slightly out of place. I think Barash and Flynn look more like they could be half brothers. James Scott's EJ never fit in to me.

So, today, we're looking at a heart transplant. Hmmm. Will Julie be strong enough to sustain one? Boy, Hope got to blubbering! I remember when she was a little girl & couldn't stand Julie because Julie wasn't her mother. She just needed Addie to be there or no one. Gosh, she was so spoiled then, which was all Doug's doing.

LOL at the stans on Twitter. It's so messy. You don't *have* to choose a side. Lord. Love who you love, hate who you hate ... It's so bizarre these young stans think this is how you watch a soap opera.

Whether good or bad (YMMV), Ron has fired up the fanbases and folks are talking about DAYS ...

    • Was Blake the product of Roger raping Holly, or did that come after when they were a couple?
    • I really wish we could see that episode...absolutely, my memory could be faulty, it was a very long time ago. I'm not going to contradict what the actors said--there has to be a reason it made them so uncomfortable that they talked about it in the press and complained to TPTB. I think that was the first one where they made the point that they wanted to educate the audience about the subject.
    • I just did with GL and its made me very happy!

Oh yes, trying to get into any soap from scratch starting post-2010 would be hard. I prefer to go back to the good ol' days, before the decline.
    • Can we talk about how iconic the 1994 tornado was on AMC? I was scanning through old episodes last night and came across this episode. The tornado was epic and the storylines/aftermath were so good (Julia's scar/Noah!; Jenny/Ray/Nola/Jesse in heaven with Tad, etc).  For 1994, these special effects and budget for this big event were amazing. 10 out of 10!  The only thing missing is Erica!  I can't recall where Erica was at the time, but I really wish she had been involved in this storyline.

    • On the way to her own engagement party? I've read that the show had trouble getting the audience to sympathize with Rita, but...that seems bizarre. Maybe I can understand the issue with the censors, given that at the time, rape wasn't depicted the way it is now, and marital rape was even less acknowledged.  Wasn't Chris Brooks' rape one of the first honest stories on the subject? I just don't think I could get into a show I didn't have a working knowledge of. I know it's a different era, but I really tried to get into GH once Maura West joined, but it just never jelled.
    • Yes it was! My mom and I convinced my dad to get one. He was--how shall I put this?--on the thrifty side, but one day he came home with one as a surprise. To this day, I'm convinced it fell off a truck. (He knew people with "connections."

) BUT, we had our VCR and we could watch our soaps. That thing lasted forever! It was built like a tank. Even when we got new ones with more features, we kept that one.

Blasphemy!  (Haha, I get it.  But, you should try watching AMC! 80s-90s was so good.)
    • I thought about saying how I resented the fact that those two newbies were tripping up the Puppetmaster of all Puppetmasters, when the best others could do was a stalemate (or less...). But, well...*sigh*
    • I read years ago that both Zaslow and Lenore both complained that it came off as a seduction because of CBS censors, so Lenore asked if she could say, "you raped me" to leave no doubt with the audience, and that Zaslow insisted that Holly's rape played realistically
    • Wow it’s official, Gatwa is out… https://www.avclub.com/ncuti-gatwa-addresses-doctor-who-finale-statement DW fandom on Reddit is in a furor over how things went down and apparent last minute scrapping of the original ending. Also…Billie Piper again really?
