There's more holes in the plot than there is in a piece of Swiss cheese, but, I'll still take this story over a mob war any day of the week.  I'm so glad Genie Francis is back and that they are using her better this time around.  Even though the show is far from perfect, the refocusing of the show in favor of the character of Laura has helped to improve the show alot.

Admittedly I skipped out on a lot of GH in the past few years, but I find the way this story has played intolerably frustrating, not only with the plot holes but with the mind-boggling oversights. Maxie bobbing and weaving dick-drunk and giggly all over Port Charles while her friend is in the ICU? None of this is grounded in character whatsoever.

Maxie having no life outside of having scenes with or about Peter is so annoying. I don't like him, I don't like him with Maxie, and the actor is so boring.

Look at Brad and Lucas actually getting airtime in their own story! Can't wait to see them again in a month.

Drew and Kim have zero chemistry, and I do not care about Oscar no matter what this show does.

Kevin is blind :( Are Drew and Jason next?

Baby Wiley is soooo cute.

I posted this on Twitter but I'll share it here with all of you. Look at this GH cast bloat! (Click to enlarge)

All 43 actors and 44 characters in GH's January 2019 opening credits. (Kevin/Ryan did not have separate pictures so I just put them under "Kevin.") Yes, you heard that right. This cast is sooooo big. I'll try to make one of these every month if anyone's interested!

Notes: Recurring cast only appear in the opening if they are in the episode itself (aside from the first few iterations that used a ton of faces.) Shiloh hasn't been added. Major recurring characters that appeared in episodes but weren't included: Brad, Lucy, Obrecht, Robert & all of the kids. Major recurring characters who haven't yet appeared in episodes since new opening started: Diane, Epiphany, Molly, TJ & Valerie.

Side note: Parry Shen actually tweeted me about it, which was awesome haha. He said he and Ryan Carnes took new ABC photos last month so I'm sure we'll see Brad and a new Lucas photo in here within the next few months.

While the Lucas/Brad/Elizabeth  were very good, the rest of today's show was crap. Four  pets in one episode  (Peter, Franko, Nina and Julian) makes me cringe.

The scenes with Jillian/Ava were decent, MW saves him. Had Devry played a different character, I wouldn't loathe his presence on the show.

Bloated Jake Dough and Kim scenes were blah. Again, if Tamara was playing Sarah Webber with a Q heir, I might be a little more interested, but Kim is just a boring character.

Nina---just no.

They already ruled Father Knows Best out as a suspect, and this just seems like an excuse to have smirking RoHo on again. Who is directing that isn't telling him how his facial expressions are horrible?

I guess it will be 2025 before we hear about Gail's will again......

    • The Saturday 8pm slot usually had the lowest rating of the NBC 4 sitcom lineup for some reason. NBC let Saturday night fizzle, They used 9.30 pm to launch 227 and Amen, both of which moved to earlier in the evening but they  kept Empty Nest following GG for several seasons.  Empty Nest should have moved to 8pm with their strongest new sitcom at 9.30, anticipating that GG would eventually falter. Instead they left them there and stretching the sitcom pool too thinly on other nights. When Grand talk over at 9.30 Thurs maybe Night Court and Wings could have been used on Saturday.
    • @Maxim Great to see your mini-reviews again. There are a number of clips on Youtube of Janice's slow mental breakdown. Christine Jones is just superb. She played the hell out of that role. Something which isn't referenced as much later on is how Mitch pushed Janice's doubts and mental instability for his own ends...until suddenly he didn't want to anymore (I guess he caught on with the audience and the show became wary). I don't want to post a bunch of clips, but this one has a very good confrontation between Rachel and Janice.

    • It really made Oscar the Doorman seem like an imbecile.   I think the show's unusual format & subject manner is what makes EON often seem less "dated" and "old-fashioned" than other shows from that time period.  It never attempted to be especially "trendy" or "modern" -- and its film noir style is pretty timeless.
    • Dallas, Dynasty, Knots and Falcon Crest all had good runs but by 85 they had seen better days. I think they were a victim of the format. After several seasons seeing the same characters front and center viewers were bored. What was once fascinating grew predictable. JR, Alexis etc had to be front and center and after a while their schemes and shtick grew repetitive. JR remarrying Sue Ellen, Alexis constantly trying to get he better of Blake etc Unlike daytime, there wasn't the flexibility to bring in other stories and characters and maybe let the likes JR go backburner. That same mentality also invaded daytime with characters like  Sonny and Victor still peddling the same stuff after decades. I guess the same could be said for MSW eg every week Jessica encounters a crime and solves it,but I think viewers come to that format with a different mindset.
    • Daphnee and Trisha did a live stream on Instagram and confirmed they find out if the show gets picked up in May. This pretty much confirms they're on the primetime schedule like the Bell soaps. Fingers crossed we get a multi-year renewal announcement soon!  https://www.instagram.com/reel/DJSsYb7PDv8/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link&igsh=MzRlODBiNWFlZA==
    • I don't think Lois the character was there.  The Lois we knew from the 90s has pretty much died with this  Gio story crap.
    • Have to agree re MM. The goody two shoes character and writing doesn't help but maybe a more dynamic actor would help Brandon lift his game also. I found the song sequence a little OTT. First of all it should have been shorter and maybe the song fades out and just some music to accompany the montage. I think it would have worked better if Anita had have been alone after everyone left and started tinkling leading into the song, with Vernon coming in observing and then joining her for  a close moment. Everyone standing around felt a little too much. And that closing effect with the two blackscreens meeting was unnecessary. Just a fade out would have been enough.

    • And sadly I think that’s the trivia Both Jeanne Cooper and Eric Braeden went with for years and years. Lol
    • But people were hating so bad on amc and the final year and the ratings sucked. Business wise they made the right call. Oltl who even gained some ratings back and weren’t they higher as GH at one point is a decision and never understood.
