You're right, Sandra Nelson wasn't a terrible recast.  But I just think Phyllis is played out as a character, regardless of who's playing her at the moment.

At least they had Fen finally recognize Ana’s lie made no sense. But any normal person would have questioned that immediately or at least sooner.

I wonder again if she’s still contractually on the hook to turn over revenue for any material she produces and we’ll soon be introduced to the dodgy manager (that is, if Josh continues this story).

It looks like they may a bigger reason why Ana doesn't want to reveal to Devon that she is the songwriter. I wonder what it is. On today's show she got snippy with Fen, after he told he didn't believe her story and wanted to discuss what her real reason was for not wanting to tell Devon. Her attitude had a big shift to it when he tried to find out why she really didn't want to tell the truth. I didn't care for the way she ended up acting towards Fen. But maybe she is some type of trouble and revealing she is the songwriter will add to it. I wonder what will end up happening in this storyline. I could see Fen continue to dig deeper until he finds out what the truth, largely because he cares about her.  Maybe he will end up telling Devon and Ana will be upset with him.

Also, I thought Fen was looking pretty cute today. (He looked good in the shirt he was wearing). I enjoyed his scenes with Michael/Lauren. I look forward to seeing them interact together more.  And I wonder what Kerry is hiding. I think that she has always come across like she could have some other agenda going on and I wonder what she is up to. I like her and Jack together and their chemistry and I wonder how her secret will affect them as a couple.

I also think it's definitely time to bring this JT storyline to an end. This storyline has been going on too long and has too many unnecessary twists added to it. At this point, I would be okay with it being revealed that JT is alive and he is the one scaring the women this time around. This storyline needs to be wrapped up.

I’d be ok if the harasser is revealed to be an alive-and-well Diane Jenkins at this point. Anything to end this.

Kerry/Alice Hunter reminds me a lot of Sophie Okonedo (in looks only).

Ana’s manager is likely some Big Bad with whom she had a destructive relationship.

Yeah I thought about that too. Phyllis has beef with all three of the other women, hates Victor, and has been conspicuously absent from some of the major incidents (like kidnapping Tessa). Mal loved those reveals in which a major character’s machinations have been offscreen for months: he just did one with Ashley manipulating Dina and faking Jack’s test results, after all, and had Nick masquerading as JT and creating Dark Horse on the DL.

Frankly, it would be a welcome change after months of self-righteous, hypocritical Phyllis railing at Lily for causing Hilary’s death or berating Ashley for switching Jack’s DNA results. GT would be better at playing a darker, nastier Phyllis, not some antihero who somehow always finds the moral high ground (à la Sonny Corinthos).

Phyl was at Mia's when the fire started, she was with Nick and Billy when Nikki found those clothes in her bed

Phyl is tryin to keep Nikki calm, not sure the poker and putting JTs clothes in her bed does that, btw the cops don't even know bout those 2 things so it can't even be applied to framing Victor

Kinda obvious who it is lol

    • On May 27, Johnny spoke to Sami on the phone, and learned that Sami and Sydney were trying to fly in from Sicily, but were stopped by a volcanic eruption because the ash had grounded all the planes. As discussed on the May thread, ash from Mt. Etna in Sicily caused planes to be grounded in summer 2024, so Cwikly/Ford would have known that.  (I just learned that Mt. Etna has been considered "active" with intermittent activity since 2022.) Friday May 30, Will said that Sami and Sydney found another flight and will be here soon. Well, Sami and Sydney got out just in time, because … There was (and still is ongoing) a huge eruption of Mt. Etna that began very early Monday morning June 2 Italy time (which would be Sunday night June 1st Chicago time) and a volcanic ash plume had reached an altitude of around 6,400 metres (around 3 or 4 miles high) https://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/europe/mount-etna-eruption-volcano-smoke-lava-live-updates-b2761911.html
    • Agree to disagree. Like first, love second. OH, agree, agree, agree! Legendary Featherstone, you're not dressing this one well at all. Petite woman with ample bosom, wrong clothes = awful  matronly looking ugh. I'm sorry but I felt hit over the head with everything each of them thought & felt for about 6 more days than I felt I had signed on for.  I don't know you well enough to know if you will know when I'm teasing, so I've just warned you that I am when I say, I hate for you that you haven't actually met Danielle before. LOL. To me it was just a natural take.  I have no problem going back & forth between those two focal sites. But, I am certainly aware that early on I had an expectation of being really into their having 27 sets & that has definitely not been the realization. And, yes, for now, Frank is still heads above any & all others with us & sets IMO.  Huh? Guza gone. I have it in my head that he was only willing to come out of retirement (and presumed mourning) for a "certain amount of time" to help get this new creature launched, but had no desire to stay & so was one of the "over-staffed intentionally" that we were told about. Of course there's been no official word on the circumstances of his leaving.  But, you might mean go with Guza as in a style, if so, ignore the last para.

    • I'm so pleased we have such fan engagement about Dani. Reminds me of some other soap characters. I think it's because they are "polarizers" which is a word I may have just made up. They are polarizing on their shows to other characters & to story & they are polarizing in the audience as fans seem to have extreme reactions to them, love & hate, not middling neutrality, ya know? Well, it's a theory.  To me the human being you seek has been amply shown especially to two people & both more or less recently. Her sister bond with Nicole, whoa, has knocked me back & blown me away. And, with Chelsea, over her budding sexual identity and awareness. She gathered instantly that something was up with that daughter & was laser focused on her for several scenes. Then, for a third, she & Pamela have finally, also recently, been so real & genuine & authentic.
    • Thanks, Paul, I did not know about his interest in the comedic elements or that he was one of our many people who came from the network! I have always liked Marlena de la Croix's writing, which is not to say I 100% agree with her. She's been a member of my FB soap group for a good long time & she actually posts, which I love. Recently I posted about an e-copy of Robert LaGuardia's SOAP WORLD that is free to borrow like a library e-book but on the Internet Archive site & I posted that at the time of their publications, all of his soap opera books were the gold standard.  She immediately posted about "Bob" who was her close friend & how much she still misses him to this day & that he loved to talk soaps & was also a nice guy, etc. which I was over the moon to have her share about the author & his time etc. like that!!!
    • Just more RTD ego trips, seemingly his main reason for coming back.
    • Thanks @Paul Raven  That's a lovely writeup. Do fans feel it was warranted?
    • So I was reminded that we're now meant to be celebrating PRIDE by this amazing post:

    • RIP to our hero, John Black

I really wonder why they chose to write this whole ‘John is getting better’ part of the storyline, especially since we all knew what was really going to happen. And I hope we find out the answer someday. But as tough and as tearjerking as today was, it was also really beautiful. And the acting, even though a lot of it if not all of it was real, was spectacular. The flashbacks were beautiful too. I honestly can’t even describe how much I enjoyed today.  Having so many of John and Marlena’s scenes be focused on the two of them and their love story was the right decision. It was a fitting end to John and Marlena. And I’m also glad that John and Steve got to have one last goodbye after everything that happened. As for Bo and Hope and their family, I did think that some parts were a little unnecessary but I really enjoyed Bo’s dream and his reunion with Zack. The acting playing Zack actually did a pretty good job too. Everybody encouraging Bo to fight was really the right decision in this storyline as well.  As for the final minutes of today, be prepared. I actually have tears running down my cheeks as I write this.
