The SSH/Julie tribute was beautiful classic DAYS. Ya gotta give RC credit for respecting history. Who knows, maybe Denise Alexander may finally make her way back to Salem...?

It's funny, thinking of Julie's other grandson Scottie. Rick Hearst is 53; in the soap world, he could be the grandfather to a teenager, making Julie a great-great-grandmother.

It's moments like these that make for a perfect reintroduction of people like Scottie, Susan Hunter, etc.  (just as I had hoped for GL's Bauer clan when they did their 70th anniversary episode, but alas...).  As long as they respect the ages of the characters, as opposed to Sarah's de-SORASing.

I got emotional too, especially when "The Most Beautiful Girl in the World" came on.  I knew Bill had recorded a song but I expected it to be a generic one like we've been getting the last few years.  Made me think of watching with my mom, and telling her that Doug was right whenever he sang that song to Julie.  I'm so happy that Susan received this tribute, not only for my enjoyment, but because I'm sure this made her and Bill happy.  I know there have been times they must have felt that their contributions have been forgotten.  They've had a good year, and as Susan has said, it wasn't posthumous!

Leo continues to make me laugh. I laughed at him calling Justin "Daddy" and Adrienne "Mother Kirakis" in today's episode. And him also referring to Sonny as "Jackson". I think he had nice chemistry with Shelia as well. I enjoyed seeing them interact together.  And his butterfly suit was something.... I actually thought that Justin/Adrienne didn't take the wedding news as badly as they could have taken it, (though maybe that will change during tomorrow's episode.) And honestly Sonny didn't take it that badly either, and didn't look as uncomfortable as he could have been holding Leo's hand during the ceremony.

Also, I liked seeing Will and Marlena spend some time together. I enjoy their bond.  And I think that the custody for Holly storyline is interesting. It also seemed like they had Sarah/Brady and and Chloe/Eric mix it up a little today with each other. Brady greeting Sarah at the door with a towel on... hmmm... Maybe these scenes were to show Brady/Sarah and Chloe/Eric on decent enough terms, before the drama really begins in the fight over who gets to raise Holly.

With the introduction of Nicole's letter saying she wanted Chloe to raise her alongside Parker, I could see more conflict happening between these four. Especially as they are separated in pairs (Sarah/Eric vs Chloe/Brady) in the fight for Holly. I could see Maggie being stuck in the middle, even though before the she learned of the letter today, she had agreed to let Eric raise Holly. I wonder if that will change when she learns about the letter.

Yes, The Most Beautiful Girl in the World and The Look of Love were signature songs for Doug and Julie, particularly TMBGITW, so I am grateful to DAYS for coughing up the dough to use a signature song on air.

At various times, the show has treated the Hayses terribly, keeping them off the show for years on end. In this era of dwindling audiences and alienated viewers, familiar and beloved faces like Doug and Julie are a godsend. Nowadays, I ONLY watch the soaps when I know there will be appearances by my favorite vets.

Adrienne: You will never be accepted into this family.

Leo: Your loss, Mama K, because I am a scream to hang out with.

I actually laughed out loud. Leo is the only thing making Will/Sonny remotely interesting. Never saw GR on Y&R, but he's fun in this role. And they really need to let Sonny have a different hairstyle.

I don't think that those pics of him in the butterfly suit are very flattering but I don't think that GR has looked so bad when he has been in other outfits. Like the one he had on this week before the wedding. I think that hairstyle is he wearing in the wedding pics does help age him. It looks like an old fashioned hairstyle someone could get at the hair salon.

    • I'm anticipating most of the cast at the Nice location for a few weeks a la the Tuscan villa for Victoria and Ashland's wedding. I don't know why they bother. I'd rather see the money going into more regular home/office sets. This party has been a bust. No secrets revealed, break ups  etc. Ugly decorations and I'm going to slam the costuming again. Just the guests heaping praise on  Nikki  like she's achieved some magnificent milestone rather than just getting a year older.

In the loving arms of his wife, Dr. Marlena Evans, John took his last breath at the end of the June 2 episode, after suffering devastating internal injuries during a lab explosion. The iconic character went out as he lived — a hero. Sensing the fans’ devastation on Monday, Marlena’s portrayer Deidre Hall posted this simple-but-powerful message to fans on Instagram: “I know. I know. Hardest day ever.”

    • Now coming into June...well...   I knew it was coming but I didn't like the start to the next round of Dani/Bill/Hayley. As the 3 A plots from the start of the show (The SilkPress storyline and Martin's Secret being the other two), it needed to be benched for a while to develop those characters and allow other characters and storylines to grow. 3 months in, Hayley is the weak link, Dani is still divisive, but not boring, and Bill has been making his mark with some plots faster than others. So last week seeing the story starting to loop back around to them with Hayley's potential pregnancy, I honestly had mixed feelings.   I get it. The SilkPress storyline is currently in aftermath/next turn mode, so it has to be moved into a C plot position. Moreso if we want to keep the very talented Miss Trish around. And I love how clever the writers are being with the storyline. They give us enough in the episodes and are still playing out beats to keep the appetite fed. I don't feel like anyone is being dumbed down to keep her around. And Trish is giving nuances in her alone scenes with NuTed. I shouldn't care for a clear psycho, but she be selling it. That said...I wish they had given us a little more of the Martin's Secret storyline in the last week of the month though I loved the game of cat and mouse Bill did on Martin and Smitty to keep the storyline alive and active after it had a nice build beginning of May and vanished for a week mid-May. And it appears like it's about to go back to the backburner as an A plot which of course leaves the A plot of Dani/Bill/Hayley.   I am probably in the minority as someone who is not anti-Dani here and even she annoyed the heck out of me last week. In character true, but I just felt like there was a way to get all of that across without it feeling like...as I've said before...one step forward, two steps back...and have it feel organic. I liked Hayley got a little bit of edge with her, but she still ain't no match for Dani. And it reminds to be seen if we should be going back to that well of a story yet.   Now about today's show...   And I thought Tracy was bad! lol. But YES. Sharon has been worth the wait. And so has Anita's story! Finally having TT in the limelight. This has been a nice slow burn for me and a nice B plot. And the actress is good. The wig is giving. And her holding what Anita's secret is over her head and threatening to tell Vernon....Ooooo...that is what I was waiting for.    And speaking of bad...I thought Eva vs Kat was a great rivalry. But I am loving the rivalry that is growing with 'Nancy Drew' and Silk Press Sheila! They both get good licks in and are so cunning with each other. And I definitely have liked that since the anniversary party, that it has been growing. Now that Kat has been proven right, she has not backed down. And neither has SilkPress. And we got a 'Ms. B@tch' moment, too? LOVE. Eva coming up with a trump card was delicious and so 90s Sami Brady. GOOD. And the coda with Jacob and the expert...YES. The Silk Press storyline has been the best paced on the show so I love that the aftermath of the anniversary party continues to be so...barring one flaw...well for me. Not enough Nicole's POV.   And I like the C plots on display. And by that, I mean Chelsea with Vernon. And it made me wonder what the writers have plan for her love life now that the throuple is over with. I was watching her and going awww.   And of course the mystery man around Martin. I am starting to wonder if he really even works at the country club given how he made a run for it. That would be a twist.    Speaking of Martin...good to see him in scenes with his father and mother.    I'm getting used to NuTed.    I felt the last episode of May was a bit of a letdown, but this was a very nice recovery.
    • Unless they cut him, I'd think he would stay. Surely, he didn't choose to return because he expected high quality. I figure he gets to work when he wants and spend a lot of time doing his own thing and being with his family.
    • The writing for Liz and Lucky is indeed terrible, but if JJ signed a one-year contract he may be gone in a couple of months anyway. Perhaps they’re just cutting their losses.
    • That would be his older sister Stacey. She was the center of a big story back in the day. Nola was out to snag medical student Kelly Nelson, who she thought would provide her with the life she craved. He was in love with a girl named Morgan. Nola plotted to get pregnant by him, but couldn't manage to get him in bed. So she seduced Floyd, who thought she was in love with him. When she knew she was pregnant, she got Kelly drunk and made sure he woke up next to her in bed. Kelly believed her when she told him he made her pregnant. They were about to elope to Las Vegas, but her mother ratted her out and Kelly abandoned her. She almost married Floyd, but jilted him at the altar. She went to work for Quint. When the baby came prematurely, Kelly saved both of them. She named the baby Kelly Louise to irk Morgan, who was now married to Kelly. When she fell in love with Quint, she had a change of heart over all the trouble she had caused, so she changed the baby's name to Anastasia Louise, shortened to Stacey. Quint was a devoted stepfather and Henry treated her like his own granddaughter.  After Quint and Nola leave SF, I believe Stacey is never seen again. Which is odd, you would think they would have brought her back with Nola and J, but they never did.
