He said there are worst actors on Y&R that should be fired before GR. This was said after the news broke of GR being fired from the soap.

It's true, if an indelicate comment to retweet.

Sally has left the show in much worse shape than any previous writer really, even Latham and MAB.  Mal has all these poor actor newbies to contend with who have no history or connections to any of the major families.  Sally wrecked the momentum among Billy, Jack and Phil.  Jack's character has been seriously damaged with the stupid drunk one nighter with Gloria, falling off the wagon, which was never addressed.  Peter Bergman has bitten his lip as the ending tag to so many scenes, he needs Lisa Rinna's doctor to inject some bouncy silicone!  Cane and Lily's sorased twins was one of the most bone headed moves that can't be undone.  Chelsea and Nick's chemistry is DOA from lack of story for nearly a year. How was SSM hired without pitching story for Phil, Billy, Chelsea, Jack, Ash?  If Bill Bell Jr. is responsible for this hiring, he should be barred from future hiring decisions.  Mal has got his work cut out for him. He needs to promote Slater and Esser as co-heads to delve into history and bring in characters connected to the core families. Get rid of Ravi, Zack, Reed, the twins, Juliet.  Major overhaul of Nick's character is needed to get JM to attempt to act.  Dump Daniel Hall as Scott.  Just awful.  I'd dump Gloria too. I love JC but her character is annoying and not needed.

Even you know that's absurd, but great opening line to get people to (maybe) keep reading

Exactly, it's completely absurd. Latham, MAB and Pratt were all far more destructive and we're still paying for their messes. Sally was just lackluster and boring but she didn't damage the show.

Hope he included himself in that ;)

Where now that the last day here and with certain storybeats changing (I'm looking at you Cane!) as I play catchup to Mal Young's first day...any final thoughts on SSM's run?

She tried her best to try and repair TEN YEARS worth of damage and left the show in a much better state

Oh please she destroyed the show with boredom and lets remember she wrote as she went along. The last 2 weeks have been better because Mal tweaked her crappy boring stuff. It actually moves.

So she wrote as she went along without resorting to disaster plots, doppelgängers, contrived murder mysteries, baby switches, and go-nowhere cancer storylines? That’s pretty commendable :)

I think Sussman refocused the show, but she needed a strong co head writer to help with plot movement/direction given what she was going through in her personal life.  Her creation Generations took a long time to get going about a year or so... and her almost two year stint on Days had a lot of interesting stories.

Why not try this novel concept called  balance.

If Sally had a Shelly Altman with her co head writing YR it might have been a success.

She was already there with Pissant and sucked!

Oh my freaking god, it’s not a mourning period. The show is still on the air. Sally’s success may not have come in numbers, and her tenure sure as hell was nothing mind-blowing, but it sure as hell restored some semblance of dignity that Y&R once had - something that nearly every regime over the last ten years stripped away piece by piece. We are never going to get the real Y&R back, but I was grateful to see a small reminder of what once was while it lasted.

Oh, and speaking of Shelly Altman and co., i’d be a hypocrite if I didn’t first acknowledge that I enjoyed their tenure of Y&R more than LML, MAB, Griffith and Pratt, but allow me to paraphrase something I heard on here once: Y&R on its worst day is still better than GH on its best day.

I agree with everything you have said.Let me say about the last line I put in bold :totally agree! I used to say the same thing about ATWT before Goutman and Passanante  killed the show.
