The Dina story has taken a terrible turn this week - repetitive dialogue and no answers. At this point, we should know who Graham is - even if it's just the audience.

The B&S story works for the most part - it's great to see a lot of characters in one room with revelations, etc. Plus AC and MLB did a great job holding up the text. MLB really is at his best when he's advising/advocating for clients. I even thought the little scene with Jack worked well.

Phyllis - C'mon SSM. GT should not be playing lovesick, handwring victim, much less under the banner of Phyllis! Wake up. Phyllis is a great character with a ton of history and you've got a fantastic actress to boot!

Nelsea - blech.

Agree with all of this. The Dina story, in spite of the great acting (minus the guy who plays Graham), is at a standstill, and I'm bored. There are no new layers to this story that are unfolding.

I'm actually digging DG for once. He plays pathetic and in-over-his-head pretty well. If he's not happy with the writing for Cane, I at least admire his commitment and professionalism on screen. It was CK's tearless crying that was grating on me today.

No he didn't!

LOL at all the complain, repetitive dialogue is classic YR, Ashley and Jack always had the same dialogue over and over back in de day

I agree with some of de critique bu I enjoy de show

No Nick does not need to go to CL, I am glad Sally ain't no Schick fan cuz I like him with Chelsea, they have long term story potential

BTW, did we get the annual Cassie death anniversary grave scenes at de end of May?

I don't want to sound like a broken tune but I am totally in love with the show like I was before things fell apart in 2002-2003. (I liked early LML and early MAB too, to be honest)

The writers are making a point of adding mystery and a bit of lust to every story.

Y&R was famous for its delving into characters' psychology and we are seeing bits of that again. (Nikki, for example)

Business storylines are back and the writers are making an effort to get proper information to add into the script. It was only a few months ago that Reed was paying for porn and Lauren saved her company by building a multiplatform website overnight. Now we are talking dating Apps, legal matters, bro-hugs in Tokyo (lol I love that). Major improvement. Honestly I see Kay Alden's mark all over it, but I might be wrong.

Nikki and Sharon's scenes the other day were fabulous, from a dialogue POV as well as from a directing POV.

NuCharacters desperately need to be fleshed out, but I'll give them a chance.

This is what Classic Y&R should look like in 2017. I hope it lasts!

Now add some classic music cues, keep Dina on the frontburner, steer clear of the Newman kids as much as possible, and I'm in Heaven.

    • Coming into June...   It just occurred to me that seeing Carter/Hope engaged that there was something missing. Oh, yeah! DAPHNE. I missed a few episodes, but she left, right? So is Ridge going to be the spoiler for Carter/Hope now? I felt that Daphne/Carter/Hope had more legs to it. But I guess we will see.   I did enjoy that show circling back around to Luna/Will/Electra. Katie was spitting nothing, but truth. Same for Sheila. And it's good to see Luna vs Electra, and they gave off more adversary chemistry this time around versus when they were at Deacon's.    I was happy to see Liam reduced to C plot.
    • To bring over from the May Sweeps Thread from @Chris B   I know the fashions have gotten mixed reviews but I actually like what the new costume designer is putting the cast in. It feels more modern and the more tacky pieces I feel make sense for rich people. They're buying for the brand and the price and we often see celebs in things like this. Especially for a character like Nikki, I feel the more over the top (and tacky), the more realistic it is.   I agree. While it has been hit and miss no question, I have found it fascinating to watch what the costume designer is attempting to do with the various characters and their clothes. Some have been overdue. Some have been fascinating. But (outside of Billy) not boring to watch. I definitely find it more modern as well.   My growing issue has been it's not good that the best reason to watch Y&R as of late has been to see what people are wearing rather than the writing. It feels like a red flag.
    • Haha. The fact that I stopped regularly viewing at the same time and know what you are talking about is chef's kiss.    I'm slowly bingewatching Nurse's Ball Week. But it's slow for me because a lot of the same tics and writing flaws for me that made me throw up my hands is still evident *cough*CVE*cough* Thankfully, there are some things I like also and from a glance in the GH May Thread, it seem like it had a good Sweeps with good fallout. And do I even need to mention Nina finally slapping the taste out of Carly's mouth? See? Regardless of her flaws, I do enjoy Korte-headed episodes over CVE-headed episodes because they always seem to have more emotional resonance to long-time fans.
    • And that charity does still get mentioned from time to time. I want to say the last time was some time this year, too.
    • Oh, no. Vernon has definitely had his moments.   Choose silence anyone?
    • Search YT for Edwyn Sanchez, he posted an AI enhanced episode of ATWT and it is beautiful.
    • That's so funny, that's how I listen to Montecito - while walking my dog. I'll have to check out Forever & a Day.
    • I need to listen! Forever & a Day was a fun soapy podcast to have available when I walked the dog.
    • A few years ago, Devon and Nick started a charity organization together, I think it's for housing in the community.
    • I’m hoping to start getting to know Vernon better this month. He’s really only been a bunch of noble and good tropes so far. I don’t want him to be taken down the way Ted has been, but it seems he was a long-running Senator and no matter what party you are, lasting longer than twenty years means you’re looking out for you (and not who you’re supposed to be looking out for) most of all. I want to get to know both Vernon and Anita beyond their Dupree posturing. Clifton Davis can sleepwalk handling the kind of material Christopher Bernau and David Lewis handled and I’d like to see more than just a saint.
