I've been watching Y&R for the better part since 1983 and those families would mean nothing to me. Y&R was unwatchable until the rise of the Abbotts. I'd rather have them continue to use all the vets/legacy characters on canvas, but that's just me. Y&R is blessed with plenty of beloved actors and characters with lots of onscreen history - use them.

Nick acting like a caveman was really over the top today. "Christian is mine, mine, mine". I'm basically on Nick's side here and it was still just way too much.  He doesn't even have a car seat and he's going to pull a baby out of his home in the middle of the night.  He should have just called Paul and been there first thing in the morning. I guess they wanted to show us that Chelsea has influence over him, but damn.

Kelly Sullivan as Phyllis? How the hell did anyone even consider that as an option? They look nothing alike, plus Kelly Sullivan is like HOW much younger than Michelle Stafford? Just no.

Jean and Shelly are definitely no [!@#$%^&*] geniuses. More like beavis and butt-head.

Of course, the immense popularity of the series long before the arrival of the Abbott family proves that regardless of your own personal disinterest or disdain, a huge audience found Y&R to be very watchable indeed during its first decade.

I would not discount any current "beloved actors or characters with lots of on-screen history," nor would I be opposed to using them properly. I would refute the claim that there are "plenty" of them, however. Look at the top 25 used actors in recent months:

Amelia Heinle? Gina Tognoni? Jason Thompson? Melissa Claire Egan? Steve Burton? Justin Hartley? Hunter King? Miles Gaston? Melissa Ordway? Mishael Morgan? Sean Carrigan? Kelly Sullivan? Mara McCaffray?

Of the 59 listed actors and characters, how many are considered beloved by the audience? Perhaps...15 or 20?

The show has many new faces in familiar roles, some of whom the audience accepts and some whom the audience seems to abhor, but I would not include any of these actors on a "beloved Y&R actor" list. And since the program has scores of newbie characters anyway, why not tie a few of them to legacy characters from the show's golden era? Brooks Prentiss could return to Genoa City as a business mogul in competition with the Newmans or Abbots. Paul Williams' brother Steve could have married Peggy Brooks after all, producing a niece for Paul to take in after the girl arrived in town to work at her late grandfather's newspaper.

Either way, the new characters might mean nothing to you,, but they would at least be a treat for longtime viewers who remember fondly the golden, mesmerizing era of 1973-83.

In the meantime, I wonder how many of the following actors and characters the audience would love to see get the axe.

1. Amelia Heinle (Victoria Newman) 129
*. Gina Tognoni (Phyllis Abbott) 129
3. Peter Bergman (Jack Abbott) 127

date: Tuesday, May 27 | Christopher Dunn, Lynn Martin | Steven Williford I feel bad for Chelsea; she's exploring her feelings, and they're getting [unintentionally] hurt. But I love the support that Katherine has for her cousin. Bradley, you deserve one hundred times better than Deadbeat. So much more. Anita essentially tossing Tracy out... whew. She's done. DONE. Ouch... Chelsea hit the nerve with Katherine. How interesting... I feel like Tracy is becoming the mirror Anita has been avoiding while being a Dupree. What are these top secret things she's harbouring? I really hope Jessica's interest in Tyrell is genuine, because if it isn't, it might just destroy him. Back alley meetings? Your family? As if Bradley is not part of your family... Deadbeat, sit your ass down. Hey, Childbride, lower your damn voice. You're in the country club, not the country field where your ass belongs. And oh God, she's knocked up. Whew... here we go! Dante Greene, what control did this man have? But I appreciate that Anita and Tracy are uniting together; I pray that Sharon joins them soon. I love how easy Katherine and Tomas are with each other; it's smooth, it's natural and it's blooming in all the right ways. Hayley is about to battle the Dupree women for all she's worth. I am calling it right now. The unwavering support Vernon continues to provide to Anita is paramount; I adore them as the couple they are. Notes: Mike Manning (Bradley) continues to show up time and time again in scenes with Brandon Claybon (Deadbeat), who brings nothing to the table. There is an extreme lack of romantic chemistry between them. I'm wondering how different Dante Greene is going to be in comparison to Berry Gordy Jnr; we know the true history of Diana Ross and the Supremes, but how different will it be with Anita Williams and the Articulettes?
    • This episode is beyond excellent Could have waited on tge Trina Kai scenes  but regardless  great soap
    • Haha same! I didn't like her in the beginning, but over time, I've really grown to love to hate her as a villain.  I can't wait to listen to today's new episode later tonight! I've been waiting for the mom and dad (Crystal/Vincent) to have an interaction, so I'm happy to hear it's today.
    • I've always really been enjoying the show. It's very well produced and has so many soap stars in it. I was just listening to ep 7 on YoutTube and can say I'm hooked. There was an intense scene with Crystal Chappell and Vincent Irizarry about halfway through that was GOOD! Is it bad I kind of like Mina? I know she's supposed to be the main villian
    • This isn't a bad episode, but I'm finding myself not as engaged. Must be the lack of Eva and Leslie. No Nicole, Dani.
    • Yes!! I didn't realize it before, and had a busy weekend, so wasn't here much

Wow, what happened to AMC this week? Crashing from 8.4 to 6.6.. I mean, I know they used to go up and down much more than they do today, but this seems like a harsh drop (from 7th to 13th). And nice to see Y&R's first weeks
    • Why did they cut Chelsea coming out to her grandparents? We should have seen that
