Members vetsoapfan
It would be so nice if KA and SSM would weave some history into the show by introducing descendants of the Brooks, Foster, or Prentiss familes.
Members edgeofnik
I've been watching Y&R for the better part since 1983 and those families would mean nothing to me. Y&R was unwatchable until the rise of the Abbotts. I'd rather have them continue to use all the vets/legacy characters on canvas, but that's just me. Y&R is blessed with plenty of beloved actors and characters with lots of onscreen history - use them.

Members Juliajms
Nick acting like a caveman was really over the top today. "Christian is mine, mine, mine". I'm basically on Nick's side here and it was still just way too much. He doesn't even have a car seat and he's going to pull a baby out of his home in the middle of the night. He should have just called Paul and been there first thing in the morning. I guess they wanted to show us that Chelsea has influence over him, but damn. Members ryanc
Ah yes because Sage is such a memorable character. She should have her own monument built beside Katherine Chancellors! Who could ever forget that awful screeching and scenery chewing? Legendary.
Members JONNYSBRO
When Jean and Shelly created Sage she was full of mystery. Pratt obviously changed course. it still interesting Kelly Sullivan was pushed by JFP as Phyllis but Ginas audition killed her. imagine Kelly as Phyllis

Members ryanc
Kelly Sullivan as Phyllis? How the hell did anyone even consider that as an option? They look nothing alike, plus Kelly Sullivan is like HOW much younger than Michelle Stafford? Just no. Jean and Shelly are definitely no [!@#$%^&*] geniuses. More like beavis and butt-head. Members vetsoapfan
Of course, the immense popularity of the series long before the arrival of the Abbott family proves that regardless of your own personal disinterest or disdain, a huge audience found Y&R to be very watchable indeed during its first decade. I would not discount any current "beloved actors or characters with lots of on-screen history," nor would I be opposed to using them properly. I would refute the claim that there are "plenty" of them, however. Look at the top 25 used actors in recent months: Amelia Heinle? Gina Tognoni? Jason Thompson? Melissa Claire Egan? Steve Burton? Justin Hartley? Hunter King? Miles Gaston? Melissa Ordway? Mishael Morgan? Sean Carrigan? Kelly Sullivan? Mara McCaffray? Of the 59 listed actors and characters, how many are considered beloved by the audience? Perhaps...15 or 20? The show has many new faces in familiar roles, some of whom the audience accepts and some whom the audience seems to abhor, but I would not include any of these actors on a "beloved Y&R actor" list. And since the program has scores of newbie characters anyway, why not tie a few of them to legacy characters from the show's golden era? Brooks Prentiss could return to Genoa City as a business mogul in competition with the Newmans or Abbots. Paul Williams' brother Steve could have married Peggy Brooks after all, producing a niece for Paul to take in after the girl arrived in town to work at her late grandfather's newspaper. Either way, the new characters might mean nothing to you,, but they would at least be a treat for longtime viewers who remember fondly the golden, mesmerizing era of 1973-83. In the meantime, I wonder how many of the following actors and characters the audience would love to see get the axe. 1. Amelia Heinle (Victoria Newman) 129*. Gina Tognoni (Phyllis Abbott) 1293. Peter Bergman (Jack Abbott) 1274. Jason Thompson (Billy Abbott) 1255. Eric Braeden (Victor Newman) 1236. Joshua Morrow (Nick Newman) 1127. Melissa Claire Egan (Chelsea Newman) 1088. Steve Burton (Dylan McAvoy) 1039. Justin Hartley (Adam Newman) 9410. Sharon Case (Sharon McAvoy) 9311. Hunter King (Summer Newman) 8012. Miles Gaston Villanueva (Luca Santori) 7713. Greg Rikaart (Kevin Fisher) 7314. Melody Thomas Scott (Nikki Newman) 7215. Eileen Davidson (Ashley Abbott) 6716. Melissa Ordway (Abby Rayburn) 6517. Camryn Grimes (Mariah Copeland) 6318. Doug Davidson (Paul Williams) 6119. Christian Le Blanc (Michael Baldwin) 5920. Mishael Morgan (Hilary Hamilton) 5321. Sean Carrigan (Stitch Rayburn) 51*. Bryton James (Devon Hamilton) 51*. Christel Khalil (Lily Ashby) 51*. Kelly Sullivan (Sage Newman) 5125. Mara McCaffray (Natalie Soderberg) 4626. Kristoff St. John (Neil Winters) 4227. Robert Adamson (Noah Newman) 40*. Daniel Goddard (Cane Ashby) 40*. Michael Roark (Travis Crawford) 4030. Elizabeth Hendrickson (Chloe Mitchell) 3831. Michael Knight (Simon Neville) 3732. Jess Walton (Jill Atkinson) 3633. Sofia Pernas (Marisa Sierras) 3334. Jared Breeze (Max Rayburn) 30*. Alyvia Alyn Lind (Faith Newman) 3036. Alicia Coppola (Meredith Gates) 2737. Ray Wise (Ian Ward) 1738. Lauralee Bell (Christine Williams) 16*. Tracey Bregman (Lauren Baldwin) 1640. Devon Martinez (Shawn Taylor) 1341. Elizabeth Bogush (Sandy Anderson) 1242. Kate Linder (Esther Valentine) 1143. Chrishell Stause (Bethany Bryant) 1044. Stacy Haiduk (Patty Williams) 845. Jill Lover (Nurse Stephens) 746. Tristan Rogers (Colin Atkinson) 6*. Lamont Thompson (Mitch Pulman) 648. Yvette Nicole Brown (Lois Thompson) 5*. Angell Conwell (Leslie Shelby) 5*. Terrell Tilford (Barton Shelby) 551. Catherine Bach (Anita Lawson) 4*. Jensen Buchanan (Elise Moxley) 4*. Leith Burke (Dr. Dellafield) 4*. Michael Graziadei (Daniel Romalotti) 455. Burgess Jenkins (Billy Abbott) 356. Jerry Douglas (John Abbott) 2*. Beth Maitland (Traci Abbott) 2*. Members edgeofnik
^ Y&R was popular but that era was 35+ years ago. It doesn't make sense. Y&R's most pressing issue is men under 40 to pair with all the actress that are in that category.
Members DeeeDee
What's the point of Y&R introducing legacy characters when they can't even write the characters they have now right?
