Cosgrove was one of the few men she actually had chemistry with until they ruined it. 

 

I also don't remember Hensley or Newman having chemistry with that many women. 

Cosgrove's return was doomed from the get-go. They immediately wrote him into a corner with his immediate lies.

They had potential with his return and they just did the same thing again, it was pointless and stupid.

As others have said, his return was doomed from the start. It was even more doomed when they wrote him as a psycho blackmailing Hope into loving him.

 

I like Daniel Cosgrove and he did well as Aiden when given the opportunity but BYE

 

I still don't understand the show's fascination with Galen Gering though ...

Doomed or not, there was no reason to resurrect this 12 tier character.  It was a ridiculous move, not unlike all of the bad decisions Corday has made.  He doesn't know soaps, and it shows.
