July 8, 20169 yr Member I say good and not great….I can't think of one recently…..the state of daytime dramas are pretty much done.
July 8, 20169 yr Member 2005 was the last year anything interesting on US soaps had my full attention. Edited July 8, 20169 yr by Nothin'ButAttitude
July 8, 20169 yr Member Had to have been 2006 cuz I just remember 2007 being the time when soaps started failing to hold my interest.
July 8, 20169 yr Member Anything Jean P and miss supergem Altman writing. Smart writing by smart women what a concept.
July 8, 20169 yr Member Probably the last really good stories were all the way back in the 1990s. That was when soaps still had actual storytelling by strong writers. As for now, I think the online versions of AMC and OLTL were the some of the best in recent years IMO.
July 8, 20169 yr Member I thought the 2013 return of Robin story on GH was pretty good and a lot of fun. On Days I don't remember what year it was but I liked Stefano and EJ vs Victor.

I agree with you there yeah I always think after 2005 was when it Really started to sink for daytime. Granted lots of soaps had already gone to hell but, I guess it just seemed like for Y&Rs case the last year any soap had competent writers (though Y&R of course was on its way to hell even then) with Alden and smith still around. 2006, then especially 2007 seemed like when we really got less and less competent writers/producers, and even with maybe a few upheavals, it's been that way since.
July 8, 20169 yr Member Reruns of "The Doctors", we're in 1971 now, but I guess that doesn't count even if it is new to me.

I just feel liek after that time even though the soaps were already going down hill they just stopped putting in effort (writing, casting, production) sans the occasionally emmy bait stories.
July 9, 20169 yr Member Last time I felt someone actually was actually putting in the effort to even try was when Josh Griffith was at Y&R until he fucked it up big time with the Summer paternity debacle turning a "wrong made right" into another "Sharon is off her rocker again!" story.
