I'm not saying it's not still popular, lol. Not sure why there's a debate on whether GG are still relevant or popular, but IMO, the "buzz" has gone down considerably towards the show. It received a lot of attention when re-running on Lifetime. It then went to WEtv who aired it a lot (that designation now goes to Roseanne on WEtv) and then it went to TV Land, where it barely aired and now it airs in marathons on Logo (does it still? I don't have cable/satellite anymore). I don't even think TV Land airs it anymore. It didn't last very long which I thought was odd. I guess it didn't do well which surprises me.

However, it airs a lot on Hallmark Channel and hasn't really budged from it's timeslots in years now.

I'd say the popularity has decreased a bit but it's still a top tier show, IMO. But I follow a lot of TV and the buzz just isn't as strong, even though it's still extremely popular. It's very much still a part of pop culture, but I think losing Estelle, Bea and Rue has kind of caused the show to be less relevant. IMHO. It's just not as talked about. Doesn't mean it's not still incredibly popular, with all ages. I'm sometimes shocked at people I talk to who know the show.

I don't think GG is even that popular anymore. It's just a show that will be watched no matter what channel it's on. It was a great show with some great talent. An iconic show so people will watch it, young or old. But I agree with Carl, GG is not "a thing" anymore.

I agree with all this. GG isnt what it was in 85 but its a show I will always watch If I see it on. The same goes with Cosby, Designing Women & Roseanne. These shows still stand up today IMHO

It's off screen, like 99% of their storyline.

99.99% you mean...lol

It's foreplay for the big SON orgy we're about to have.

bwhahahahaha...you mean the orgy Ron and Co. seem to have while watching GG....LMAO

Oh, and you guys didn't miss much with today's episode. Lots of Nik/Britt/Liz and kiddie quad antics at the camp. Levi/Maxie/Nathan having the same convo about who called the ICE (and Maxie was wearing the ugliest outfit ever). Something about Silas wanting to file a malpractice suit against Patrick. And of course, Nina.

I just love how the scene or Brad and Felix talking about the GG's was shown on Chelsey Lately last night.

I remember when Golden Girls first aired on Lifetime in 1997, it hadn't really been on the air much before that (if you can beleive that!) So it was a huge deal to finally get it back on television. then it started running several times a day and hasn't really stopped. I always loved the show because of childhood memories. I have all the seasons on DVD but i still watch it on TV occasionally. Actually these scenes from GH renewed my interest a little bit...even though i've seen all the episodes thousands of times by now.

They also have books now called "The Q guide to Golden Girls." it's a part of a serise that also includs Designing Women, Sex and the City, Will & Grace and Soap Operas. and a few others that i wasn't really interested in. Obviously the soaps one is now very outdated but pretty good.

Let's just be glad that the black characters aren't talking about foreplay with watermelon. Moot point, black people don't have sex with one another on this show.
