But seriously.  I don't view primetime series the same way as I do daytime ones.  In daytime, you could recast virtually any role, and depending upon how successful that recast is with the audience, you could keep going without skipping a beat.  (IDK why that is -- certainly, with the shows running every weekday, you wouldn't think it to be the case -- but recasting even multiple times works more often than it doesn't.)  In primetime, however, it's a bit more complicated.

Right now, I'm trying to think of a situation where recasting a role on a primetime series was met with audience approval.  I know there are viewers out there who would argue, for example, that Jack Coleman paled next to Al Corley (as Steven on the original DYNASTY); that Emma Samms was no match for the original Fallon, Pamela Sue Martin; and that Dana Sparks was a lousy recast for FALCON CREST's Vickie, who'd been played at the beginning by Jamie Rose.

ETA: And let's not forget Donna Reed succeeding Barbara Bel Geddes on DALLAS.

Going beyond primetime soaps, however, the consensus seems to be, again, recasting central (or even supporting) characters rarely works.  Examples include, of course, Dick Sargent for Dick York on "Bewitched" (as well as the two actresses who played neighbor Gladys Kravitz), Daphne Maxwell Reid for Janet Hubert on "Fresh Prince of Bel-Air," Judyann Elder for Jo Marie Peyton on "Family Matters," and Damon Evans for Mike Evans on "The Jeffersons."

In fact, about the only recast I can think of that worked was Sharon Gless replacing Meg Foster as Christine Cagney, on "Cagney & Lacey."  And that worked most likely because C&L was so low-rated during its' first season that the switch went mostly unnoticed.

ETA: I never count the two Beckys on "Roseanne," because I still contend that Lecy (now Alicia) Goranson and Sarah Chalke played two entirely different characters with the same name.

Priscilla Presley was a recast as Jenna Wade on "Dallas", although the character was only briefly seen with Francine Tacker and Morgan Fairchild. Mary Crosby was a also a recast as Kristin, replacing Colleen Camp, but again the character had barely been seen with the original actress.

I guess technically Ana Alicia was a recast too as Melissa on "Falcon Crest", although I doubt that it counts since Delores Cantu only appeared very briefly and had no lines.   :P

Terrence Howard, a sane judge of character.

Mark Geragos is clearly trying to muddy the water for JS' defense by leaking that stuff, but while it may keep him out of jail it doesn't make much of a difference beyond that.

I ain't judging Jussie, Terrence (and everyone else).  I just wanna know why.  Why would Jussie torpedo his career with this stunt (aside from wanting more money)?  Why would he hurt the LGBT and African-American communities like this (at a time when we're being battered both day and night by the GOP, by Congress and by Trump supporters nationwide)?  I know I'll never get the answers that I (and so many others) need.  But I'll never stop asking why.

The only primetime recast that worked for me was Meredith MacRae as Billie Jo on Petticoat Junction. While she was a world apart from the trashier version of the character they had with Gunilla Hutton and whoever the other one was, I thought she was a beautiful woman with real screen presence and a lovely singing voice as well.

The woman who was recast as Bobbie Jo was also decent enough in her bubbly supporting role.

The only problem I had with the MacRae recast is that there was all kinds of unintended chemistry between her and Mike Minor, and I spent the last years of the show convinced Steve and Billie Jo were having a secret affair.

Pat Priest on the Munsters was well accpeted as well,

Even if the check was for training but that doesnt mean he still stage the attack on himself and that is the worst offense IMHO

I would say that most of the time, recasts in primetime TV shows have not worked very well, but that is because the original actors were so much better than their replacements. When the recasts actually succeeded, it was because the second actors in the roles were either as good as, or much better than,  the original ones. Most replacements on the original Dynasty failed because the new actors were not very good, or not right for the roles. But Meredith MacRae did work out quite well on Petticoat Junction, and Pat Priest seemed to be accepted by The Munsters' viewers.

Meredith Baxter was accepted as Nancy Maitland on Family; she was a much better choice for the part than the first actress, Elayne Heilveil. Ditto Tracey Needham who took over the role of Paige Thatcher in the second season of Life Goes On.

I think that the acceptance of a new actor all just depends on how long the first one was in the role, and how talented the new one is.

As said above, this is just Jussie's lawyers leaking things in hope to muddy the waters - it doesn't refute that it was staged. It doesn't even explain any other reason why these brothers would attack him or why Jussie wouldn't have recognized them as his attackers; one of them is apparently the stand-in for his love interest on the show...

I agree.

Oh, yes it makes perfect sense now. The memo line on the check doesn't say "for fake attack" so he is now vindicated /sarc
