Closest turnover time between recasts

By that, I mean, what characters have had recasts appear rather quickly after the previous actor's exit? With David Tom taking over as Billy so quickly after Billy Miller's last appearance, I became curious about other situations of quick turnover times with recasts.

Quite a lot of recasts have happened right away. The DT/BM thing wasn't quick at all. Some recasts have happened in the same episode!

I think Babe (Alexa Havens) went to give her mom a hug and when she come out of the hug it was her recast.

That scene still makes me laugh so much!

I believe that one of the Anne Tyler recasts on All My Children was a kiss and switch as well.

When GL recast Michelle Bauer from Rebecca Budig to Joie Lenz it was at the point where she killed Mick Santos, who was trying to rape her. So they shot the same scene twice. One show ended with RB doing him in, the next show replayed the scene with JL.

I think Mark Valley/Steve Wilder was another that happened in the space of a scene.

Surely this is the winner, or rather it's tied with any other similar scenes.

And of course, in 1959, Peggy McCay's Vanessa became Audrey Peters' Vanessa on Love of Life in a matter of one episode -- Van's wedding.

Then there is Mason on SB. Mason gets punched as Terry Lester & falls down. When he gets u after the break, its Gordon Thomson as Mason

Most recasts on Passions started the day after the previous actor's last episode.....

I don't think any recast can beat Mark Valley/Steve Wilder as Jack Deveraux recast on Days... the transition happened in the SAME scene.. no commercial break or anything. Camera was on Mark Valley in the shower with Jennifer, camera cuts away to Jennifer, and then cuts back to Jack played by a new actor!

Its really not that uncommon for recasts to take over the next day. As mentioned, the quickest would be AMC's Babe who changed actresses mid episode

For the record ,on Love of Life it was Bonnie Bartlett who was replaced as Vanessa by Audrey Peters. Peggy McCay left a few years earlier.

Didn't we have a thread about this like a week ago, Babe recast 'n all?

I was just thinking this...I think it was in the VoiceOver thread.
