First of all. I was the one who said he should retire.

I have never cared for EB and if he says something I don't particularly care for...guess what i'm going to say so no matter who its in reference to.

The MM apologists seem to be the only ones getting worked up over the fact that Braden opened his mouth, just like they are the only ones getting huffy about other cast members showing support for Hunter King on Twitter.

If any of these people were taking up for their martyred pervert, the MM stans/apologists would be praising them to the skies.

He's said stuff like this before and I don't think he's really joking. He may know their names, but I think he was serious when he said he barely knows HHK and that he doesn't get to know his fellow actors until they've been around a long time. I'm guessing he doesn't have a whole lot in common with a 20 year old young woman. Remember when he said he doesn't really engage with MTS on a personal level a few years ago?

And really, so what? It's a job for him. I've had several jobs where I didn't know my co workers well and did not GAF, especially about those who were new.

I've been so good about not engaging in this mess on twitter and finally I broke down and engaged the crazy. IDK what I was thinking.blink.png

If the same actors are turning out the best work year after year then they should be nominated. Now if you are saying that writers need to rotate actors from front to back burner cyclically so that the same actors are not hogging the airtime and everyone gets good story, then I agree.

But MM wasn't saying that. He was sour that he wasn't nominated.

One of my twitter friends (MarkH actually) wondered if what EB said meant that the HHK thing was untrue. I said, it did not mean that, since MTS and ED and other cast-mates had all but confirmed that it happened. Then some crazy stan poked his nose into the convo and said those actors better get a lawyer because they were talking about things that were none of their business *RME*. I said crazy fans made it their business by attacking HHK.

Anyway, I need to stay off twitter and out of this thread until there is actual news. It's hard for me not to defend someone when I think they are being wronged, so the best thing is to just back away from the whole thing. I really did not want to engage on twitter because of the viral nature of anything said there.

    • @DeeVee Claire is a perfect example. So many women came to Springfield as competent, smart, and talented professionals. Then they’d attract a so-called “good guy,” get dumped, and spiral into complete chaos. What always strikes me is how clearly it plays like a male fantasy—yet it was written and sold to a female audience.
    • I just watched some parts of an episode of GL where Roger has just been shot by Holly. Rita then admits to Hillary that Roger raped her. Kasdorf is such a fantastic actress. I wish there were more of her work available.
    • -- Alex Alegria has almost a full sleeve tattoo on one arm and a large tatt on one pec. I see no indication that the show is covering up his ink,
    • Didn't Carrie2 even seduce a minor? Ick. Oh, yeah, and she even tried to seduce Alan, but this was his post-prison era when he was trying to prove to everyone he had changed. It's funny that of all people he didn't go for it. Wait. Josh had an affair with Vanessa? Or she just thought he did? I know people always say "it's just a soap" but the way mental illness is portrayed on soaps (and that goes for pretty much all of them) has always been not great, especially PPD. They practically turned Claire into The Joker. She also was trying to seduce men. (I notice that now Mary Ryan Munisteri is listed as co HW with Ryder in the 1986 episodes, Claire has calmed down a lot. Never thought her GL career was very good but seems like she tried to course correct that a bit).
    • sss Ms. Tunie is a goddess. I feel all the anger, pride, sadness, arrogance, dignity, fear, love, and other emotions in everything she does as Anita.
    • You're right. People like me who stuck with her, did so because of her history. The show just skated her along with no story,  no goal, no aim. Right again! This is who I forgot before. When you describe her, it makes me appreciate her more. Thinking back I loved Mandy.
    • Maybe Guza is becoming Y&R Head writer and Jilly will be named EP! Remember CBS installed Latham as consultant and later Mal Young, both of whom took over the show. Of course, they each got credit during the consulting days.
    • Don't forget Carrie, who as Carrie2 was screwing everything in pants, and PPD Reva, who to either get back at Josh for his supposed affair with Vanessa (or just to prove she's more desirable than Van) tries to screw half the male population.
    • Post-production isn't exactly akin to sweeping the floors, but it makes more sense given her CV.  And, it would invalidate any concerns that she has an undo influence on the creative process, as opposed to visual and sound design of the show.  In fact, given her interests, it makes sense that she would want to consult and see the impact of newer technology in a post-production facility.  I could only imagine how much has changed in sound technology since she worked on SB, and that might be intriguing to utilize. As well as their impending move (not as soon as B&B, but we all know it will happen) and helping set up post-production at the new facility.
    • The last five or so episodes of season 8 after the Jean Hackney story ended were pretty strong with the Laura/Val friendship breakdown, Ben's PTSD with Val trying to help him, and the start of Jill realizing that Val was as much of a threat to her happiness with Gary as Abby was. I always thought that the Jean Hackney story should have ended at mid season at the latest... and then deal with the fall-out because seeing Ben/Val switch roles with Ben in mental decline instead of Val would have been interesting to explore.  And seeing Val and Laura's friendship suffer also was interesting and should have been explored especially with Karen caught in the middle and Abby both intrigued and amused at the conflict that she didn't cause. However, season 8 was the only Latham run season where Val was well written.
