GH50: December 2013 Discussion

Watching him on GH and on Twin Peaks simultaneously is surreal.

I guess there's just no real energy or momentum in making GH. It's all a machine. I can't think of any other reason why people I once looked forward to seeing, like Finola Hughes, have all the passion of a dead skunk.

I think Finola does a lot better. She started off a little rocky when they first brought her in, especially with that awful thing with Luke, but I think she quickly found her footing and owns the show when they let her.

I do think it's the grind that is wearing him down, like a lot of people.

Disheveled, unkept, mess. Oh boy, what is up with the hair today? I kept believe they let these two get on camera with their hair looking like that. Like did no one think to comb their hair or has the cast gotten so big that we cant afford stylists anymore?

On the flipside, Bobbie's hair was flawless today.

So what happened to the Robin/Patrick/Sabrina story? Im guessing this is the next one that's set for a break mid-storyline.

That eye roll is exactly how I feel about this show

Why does it feel as if they are setting TJ up to die.

As of Feb 2013, Britt still was no pregnant. FF to the NB in April, less than 2 months later

And considering Obrecht said the first embryo they tried wasn't viable, it likely means she got that big in about a month. Didn't Britt give birth to a full term baby in September? 6-7 month pregnancy.....refer to my eyeroll gif above

I really enjoy Ron Carlivati's attempts to be condescending on twitter... entertainment!

Felix and Brad make me sick.

Sonny's hammy acting and hand gestures are painful. I need this mob crap to be over.

Every time I see Emme Rylan, I think it's that abysmal Kelli Sullivan. Rylan is only a slightly better actress than her. I'd rather see Julie Berman again.

I think I'm one of the only people who actually likes Britt a lot. Kelly Thiebaud's teeth used to bother me but she doesn't act with her teeth as much anymore. I remember I often felt the same way about Susan Haskell's teeth (who was amazing) on OLTL.

The non-actor playing Julian really sucks the life out of any scene he's in.

Dante looks rough!

deVry should never play a mobster again.

It's too bad they only want to acknowledge Lulu's relationship with Nikolas simply for the plot and so she could hold Ben, which I thought Rylan handled well. She's done a good job and finally with this story won me over.

Dr. O sweetly encouraging Britta to tell Dante the truth was hilarious. It was the way it was delievered.

Those were the two best things. That and Jacklyn Zeman looked fantastic.

Alexis all bitchy towards Julian was somewhat entertaining but all Alexis does is snark and act better than everyone. She's as worthless as her daughters now.

And speaking of that ... ugh. Can she be offed instead? It was nice to see TJ be given something to do other than chase after that twit.

But the last few days have been painful.

Fri December 13

I mentally punched John McShit when Sam opened the door and he said "Ho Ho Ho." Like, shut up.

Sonny in a wife-beater is not exactly what I needed or deserved to see.

I laughed at Dante's face when Lulu told him his idea was terrible, even though I didn't mean to. That was a great reaction.

Loved, loved, loved Nikolas/Leslie/Spencer & Brittany. All of a sudden, I am loving Britt.

Ellie dissed Brad, so at least she's good for something.

They didn't even build to Spinelli taking the baby to Maxie. The baby's reaction was so great, though. She outacted both Shitnelli & Maxie "Hold My Pills" Jones.

Fun ending! ph34r.png

    • Thanks!   Was anyone watching during this time? Wondering how Peggy’s rape played out onscreen. It just seems cruel to subject the Brooks family to this trauma a 2nd time.   Feels like the writers have already given up on the character of Jennifer, even though she sticks around another year-plus. She should be a passionate and fierce protective mother, but instead she seems just reactionary (and not even mentioned in this recap) This was also the case in ‘73 when Chris was raped. The writers are definitely more invested Stuart as the Brooks parent.
    • BTG got another SNL reference at 00:50  CONTEXT (so it isn't misconstrued) in this joke swap segment, Michael Che frequently makes his white cohost Colin Jost read racist jokes written by Che.

    • It's obvious that Israel's presence is a major divisive issue, and this is something that the EBU needs to deal with. According to the now published results Israel got 13 out of a possible 19 max points in the semi-final, and while their song isn't bad there's no way they would get those numbers without some kind of manipulation/political voting. They are clearly using this contest as a way of improving their somewhat tarnished reputation. I know that some people are comparing this to the massive sympathy votes that Ukraine gets and which propelled them to victory in 2022, but I feel that that was a more genuine show of support than this concerted effort from Israel to influence the televoting. I even had an ad on Youtube from Israel in Swedish(!) asking for votes! It might not be against any rules, but it feels a bit icky nonetheless.
    • Yeah, as you wrote, an Israeli win would have been a political disaster. Congratulations to Austria. 0 points from the televoting to Switzerland was a disgrace. Other than that, I really enjoyed the show ... but I'm also glad that Eurovision season is over

    • Hahaha Sorry if I was too negative, I just started typing and typing once I got going hahaha
    • @dc11786 Thanks for taking time to answer my various questions, along with giving your thoughts on the different writing teams. I wonder why they didn't just have Ryder and TR leave together if Jane was going anyway. The discussions over the last few pages have made me more interested in watching these episodes than I have been over the years - without the extra details and analyses provided, these years can be difficult to decipher (not helped by how often Jo seems like a side character).
    • I didn't think this was very good (I've never yet seen a good episode of this revival), but you do get a lot of Michael Stroka. And if you are a Donna Reed Show fan, you also get Paul Petersen.
