By SOD • Posted: Oct 21, 2013 Drake Hogestyn, who last aired as John in June, returns to the DAYS studio today to begin taping new episodes. Expect the actor to air again in early 2014. In the 8/12 issue of Digest, Executive Producer Ken Corday indicated there was a good chance Hogestyn would be back, adding, "I consider him one of the iconic characters in Salem and someone who can come and go because John Black is a superspy, know all-do all. It is very possible that by the end of the year or the turn of the year, you will see him again." Where's the vomit emoticon?
October 21, 201312 yr Member Nope, Eileen stopped taping in July. What a pity, I had a feeling he was returning when I saw him at a book signing with Lauren Koslow and James Scott...the show doesn't need him and Dee Hall is about to have an albatross slung across her neck. The show is so much better off without him.
October 21, 201312 yr Member I would just ship John and Marlena off the show again. Honestly, they aren't really needed and don't contribute much of anything anymore. I know some like Marlena in a supporting capacity, but I think guest visits for the character (without John) would do the trick.
October 21, 201312 yr Member I didn't miss him at all, but I do think his relationship with Marlena needs to be clarified -- and hopefully, put to rest. With luck, he's coming back for a few days with divorce papers and then riding off into the sunset. Marlena is a much better character without him.

October 22, 201312 yr Member Meh. I'm glad he's working, but I haven't missed John at allllll. LOL. Marlena's so much better away from him. And Drake's acting was just dreadful this last time.
