DAYS: October Discussion Thread

Yes, I'm a little worried about the show when ED leaves. Still, Days is doing some things right. They've done a good job of introducing Rafe's therapist. Her name escapes my mind right now, but they haven't featured her too often. We've had little peeks into her character, but they are doing it nice and slow.

Does anyone know if Will is coming back from Cali with a new face? I guess this trip will as good a way as any to make the transition.

cant be too well if you cant be bothered to remember her name...LOL. Its Jordan. This is actually a story thats irritating the heck out of me. I think they are moving WAY too slow with it. I dont like how they've been introducing her and she really needs to interact with more people besides Rafe, Kate and Gabi. She's been here since summer. They should have branched her out a bit more instead of having her be so isolated. She's a character that isnt quite working for me and seems more like a day player instead of a contract cast member. I feel as if JJ's friend Bev has more of a personality and purpose at this point.

This just goes to prove how hard it is to introduce a new character. When it happens fast and the person is in a lot of scenes (Dylan/YR, Ava/GH, hell maybe all of the newbies on GH) many long term fans are pissed. If it happens too slow some fans are bored. I can't remember the last time I've seen fans happy with the introduction of a new character. Maybe when it really works it's relatively seamless and people don't feel strongly enough to bring it up, idk.

Would JJ on this show count? He's pretty much a new character as the last time we saw him he was a baby.

Legacy characters/children are seemingly held to a different standard than newbies in regards to saturation quotas.

Hmm I think it's true that people have more patience for legacy characters, but JJ's introduction was pretty good, at least by my standards.

Fans also seem to have higher expectations for legacy characters, which makes what they've done with JJ nothing short of a miracle!

I was so glad that Chad got in that remark about Abby playing him and Cameron against each other before he left yesterday. I liked Chad, sorry to see him go. Watching this show, you can just feel all of the impending departures in the air. I have a hunch Nick is going to go off the deep end and hurt/kill Cameron, and "sworn off men for awhile" Abby will be resisting the charms of some newbie before you know it.

The moment JJ barged in at Daniel's, I just knew Nicole was going to wake up and hear it all, and sure enough...

Anne just *lives* for taking somebody down.

I thought the ending with Marlena was great. At times, she reminds me of a well-educated Krystle Carrington.

I love how so many lies are being told and there's at least one third party in each s/l who's in on the truth.

I had to laugh at the remark about Days being like a drug-addicted cousin. Sometimes you have to quit cold turkey, though. I too think all of the impending departures are going to hurt this show down the road.

If the show changes writers, it needs to start respecting the vets once again. Bryan and Drake returning are steps in the right direction. The show needs to do more to get back viewers like me who have left in the past year due to cast departures, stories, etc.

Days has great actors. It just doesn't utilize their talent enough.

LMAO! Ciara's a little biyatch. Sonny asks her why she isn't dressed up for Halloween and she gives him a stank look and goes, "Im going dressed up as the kid that hates Halloween"

WTF. Bo STILL has never come back? How long has he been gone, a year? I really wish they had just pretended as if he was making visits instead of flat out being gone this long away from his wife and kid. Its out of character for him and if something happened, its OOC of Hope to not be alarmed and do some digging. The way they are writing it though, Bo seems to be fine, just away on assignment

It's so true about the 'drug-addicted cousin' LOL. I leave and come back SO many times to DAYS. I'm currently on a break, honestly because I just can't stand the endless Daniel propping and how the show feels like it revolves around him.

I feel like there are so many things that I do enjoy with the show, but it's likely the cast, and the script-writers (some of them literally save this show from being crap because the actual storylines could be handled way worse). It's really not in that bad of a shape but the cast feels SO small. I think they do a lot of things right at the moment but I'm not watching so ... I can't really figure it out.

The vet treatment bothers me the most. And the Daniel propping. MAKE.IT.STOP!

I had no idea Abby knew about the Jack/Kayla rape. I don't remember seeing her react to that. If that did happen, are the scenes on youtube?

I can't believe JJ is going to find out about the rape just to make Daniel can look good compared to Jack. Also, this story should've been told with Jack being alive, like way GH handled Lucky finding about the Luke/Laura rape. The story should've been about JJ/Abby/Jack/Jen/Kayla but instead it's about Daniel. Are you kidding me??!! We're never going to get rid of that cancerous character!

Hey Toups!! Well, this is the story that you might remember hardcore J&J fans (from the Connotator) BEGGING for back in the day. We wanted the rape referenced, and integrated into Jack's character identity, when he first came back in 01. We wanted this story done as soon as Abby was SORASed in 05 (even before MBE came back to the show). And it has finally happened. Since I don't watch the show anymore, I just found out today.

I saw some clips on youtube. It was pretty good. There were some flaws, of course. The talk of Jack's adventures was unnecessary, and untrue. Daniel was propped, as always. (BTW, did they write it as Daniel having known all along? I didn't see). And they didn't seem to show Kayla's rapprochement with Jack, and her forgiveness of him, apparently because that interfered with the Daniel propping. Interesting, J&J fans always saw this story happening with Abby, mainly because she was the one in our hearts from the J&J heyday, while JJ came along much later (and we hated his name too). But at least the show made a relatively honest effort. Too bad the people who appreciated it the most are no longer watching. Seriously....none of the old gang from the Conn returned to put up a post. (You remember, Toups, the group you and Andre occasionally posted with back in 02). Those were the J&J diehards--and we were obliterated.

Daniel didn't know about the rape. He seemed shocked when JJ said it and gave Jennifer a concerned look.

And I don't think they needed to explain Kayla forgave jack anymore than they showed. She told JJ was was good and he grew and loved his mother and all of that.

I agree about Abby tho. I wish that her finding out had been played at some point.
