They only had Alison on for two days and still managed to rewrite a lot of history and anger viewers.

If they're going to do this they should make it count. If the purpose was just to give Ilene a job, there were many other characters she could have played. Trashing Ryan's Hope just for kick didn't have to happen.

Alison was on for more than 2 episodes. Besides, they brought on more people than simply her from PC and that's a storyline that went on for weeks. It wasn't a 2 day, pretty much isolated affair

How exactly was Ryan's Hope trashed today?

Huge Delia fan here. I named a cat I used to have after her, but I didn't listen to one word from her mouth today. I ff all of it because it is yet another pointless casting that adds absolutely no value to GH.

Leave the other goddamn soaps alone, Craptini, and focus on the gift you've been given! [!@#$%^&*] morons!

She was on more than two? I guess I blurred them together.

Bringing Delia back and reworking the character just for pointless Ava - to me it disrespects the show unless they have more plans. It could be worse, don't get me wrong, but part of me feels like this is just warming up.

How much Delia loved her son & fought for him, she would never deny a child no matter who that dad was. So Delia being Ava's mom and it being a secret is total OOC for Delia

Considering Victor was a dangerous mobster, I bet the story is that he took the child and threatened to kill her and/or her loved ones if she fought him

Delia Reid would fight to her dying breath for her kid

Im sure some people felt the same way about Laura Spencer, but we all saw how that turned out with her and Nikolas

And I never liked that either. Im not saying Cartini wont play that Delia Hid Ava as her kid. What Im saying is that IMO, its epic fail

Sure, if the kid was her ticket to the love and acceptance she always craved so much.

Otherwise... well, look at who raised John Reid. (HINT: It wasn't his parents, Frank and Delia)

Yes, at least in the early years of Ryan's Hope Delia was not a good mother. Mauve raised Little John and Delia used him to manipulate the family. I always saw that as a pretty brave writing choice. It's not very often a soap shows a mother who is actively uninterested in parenting. In fact, Rodger pretty much told Delia that she was more interested in herself and having fun then raising a child and that he liked her for it because he was the same. Frank was just as bad, but he gave lip service to fatherhood at least.

I can't speak to the later years because SoapNet didn't run them, so it's possible Delia changed.

If that's the case then its certainly understandable why she wouldn't have fought Victor considering how you described how uninterested she was in her own son.

The difference now is that Gh may having her deny Ava as her kid. No matter how selfish Dee was when Johnny was a baby, she never denied she was his mother.

Well, like i said she might have changed in later years, but the only times in the early years she fought for him was when she thought Frank and Jill were going to set up house. Other than that she was perfectly fine with him staying with his grandparents. I never had the impression she wanted to raise him day to day.

I look at those 1975-79 episodes and see Delia as an early version of Days' Sami Brady.

Dee like Sami loved her son but was all about doing whatever to get the man she had her sights on to love her and in both characters cases it came from low self esteem
