From you? That comment wasn't hysterical just because you disagree with it.

Considering I never expressed my opinion on the matter, you don't know what I agree or disagree with. And I hardly believe you're qualified to read my mind.

Exactly. Where was the hysteria in that comment?

What was that?! I can't hear you! You're too high up on your cross!

I just don't find it remotely credible that everyone has to be replaced in under a month on the air with their immediate subordinates. Taken together, this and the schedule change now smack of a series of insane panic moves by people frightened by their own shadows.

I'll forgive it if the shows remain good and last for the long haul, and I intend to keep on enjoying the shows, but this is just ridiculous. Particularly at OLTL you could tell both members of that HW team were very tapped into the stories they were telling, particularly the newspaper storyline with Viki and Jeffrey and the choice to have Nora take up a radio gig. I have no sense (yet) that the hired guns will or can continue telling these stories properly. Their work seems good in and of itself as dialogue and breakdown people, but am I really supposed to be excited about watching two old Aaron Spelling soap hands (Klein and Chip Hayes) co-headwriting these shows? The last years of 90210 and MP weren't exactly heartbreaking genius.

They could yet still be just as good or better. If it all works out and the material stays good, then whatever. And I'll still watch because so far the air shows are very good IMO. But as a move right now, this is just ridiculous.

That's the Chip Hayes? Huh. Is he married to Deborah Adair?

Klein had mixed results on ATWT, so she may be OK. I don't know. I still wonder if Racina's exit is tied to SBH's.

It sounds like they just cleaned everyone out and thought that would fix whatever problem they believe they're having by promoting the next people in line. These shows have yet to air fifteen episodes, but whatever.

I suspect it has to do with production turnaround and pace, and I think it's a bad idea. I think any kind of across the board purge like this is a bad idea when the shows haven't exactly been receiving poor reviews, or even been airing for a month yet.

I am addicted to the PP threads. When someone says something bad about the shows, the followers get furious.

When PP replaces the writers, the same people who adored the shows and said that there was nothing wrong with them, say "Well, it was about time. Good for them to fix the problems so quickly. Network soaps should learn from this."

If Agnes gets locked out of the studios like my beloved Dobsons, some people will say that it was about time. Who cares about her? The PP cafeteria lady has a brand new Twitter account!! wub.pngwub.png

Just joking. I think that the PP are just trying to save money any way they can. I also think that they have good intentions but this might not be enough.

Usually people disagree with things they consider hysterical. But you're right I can't read your mind.

I guess we can't say PP isn't committed to these shows. If they didn't care they'd let them just languish and then blame the viewers when they failed.

We're all being fired next week, actually. The shows will keep airing but we're fired.

I can already see where this thread is headed but before it spins out completely, do we know that all these changes were generated by PP and not the people in question?

Simply put, do we know whether all of this was a firing vs resignation? Just wondering.

PP threads are the worst. I almost wish there was a ban on PP on this forum. They rival the insanity that is the VR topics

So far there's been more talk of how shocking and insane everything is in the thread than there's been any insane behavior.

I think it's pretty nuts. And stupid. I'll keep watching and I hope it all works out for the best but it all just strikes me as erratic and half-baked. The shows are quite good IMO, but the management I currently find very worrisome. I hope AMC and OLTL can press on through all this mess and maintain quality (and, you know, existence). I would just like one month - one - without some insane nonsense.

What irks me more, though, are the people online crowing for all of OLTL to be given back to GH. Yes, because that's the answer. Let's have two dudes in charge of everything when they're not exactly brilliant to begin with. Whatever can be said about the current BTS setup, I'd rather have OLTL on its own than back on a hybrid setup on GH.

I hope you finished that work you had to do btw, ho.

Thank you, Carl.

Yes, but talking about how shocking and insane it is gives us something to discuss on the days the shows aren't airing. I don't watch OLTL, so that only leaves me with an hour of content to discuss each week. whistling.jpg

LOL, no. I'm going to be working into the night.

My only immediate response to all this that I've thought through is I'm glad that Joanna Cohen has scriptwriter job back. Although now AMC has lost N. Gail Lawrence.

Marlene McPherson is currently flying around in a private jet with Ken Corday and Greg Meng. I think she'll be okay.
