Honestly, it's way too slow. I thought the first episode would end with an earthquake, the second with Erica's death and the third would see the (very slow and anticipated) reveal of Erica not-being-dead-but-whisked-away twist. So far, I've been disappointed.

The Winnifred mention made the show for me!

I think JB/DC will warm up once they get their acting legs back/are not stuck in reboot exposition. The "meat" of the story is when JR wakes up and Colby comes home as the resident 20 something vixen bitch queen.

Loved David and Angie's scenes...a testament to the actors and their chemistry since I'm not a huge fan of either character.

Speaking of which, i guess David took the fall for Marissa's death since he was fine and JR ended up in a coma. Should make for some interesting choosing of sides once JR wakes up...and it explains how he doesn't end up in jail...I wonder if Adam, Brooke, Dixie, etc...know the real truth or if David being the guilty party is cannon at Chez Chandler for AJ's sake? I also wonder if AJ suspects the truth and that is why he doesn't want it mentioned?

I guess Cara filled the daily female "hot mess" quota today.

Why do I have the feeling that I will be rooting for Colby, no matter how "evil" they make her?

Pete/Celia werent as creepy - but they do nothing for me. Part of it is that I am just not sympathetic to Celia or her "plight". I mean, it is 2013 - AFAIC, she doesn't have a plight...she has a choice. She can take the $ her benefactor is shelling out and live by the rules he has established OR she can choose to 86 her guardian and live her own life - for better or worse. So, while I AM interested in her past/who she ends up related to....her whole "woe is me" routine is a little much.

As to who she's related to? I suspect she'll end up being Zach's daughter, but if we are going for "out there" specs - I'd go with her being Gillian and Ryan's kid or the long-lost twin sister of Lorenzo Santos.

We really haven't found out anything about what happened after the shooting. We know David was charged with the shooting....but thats about it....we now know Kendall left Zach because of some sorry ass made up story....lol.....where is Erica....where is Tad...where is.........where is......where is..........what happened to.......what happened to......its not like its on tv again and using it as cliffhanger bases will work....at least OLTL is moving along.....

But I honestly do not see why that is a problem. I like the fact that they're using the shooting as a sort of arc for the show. Why is it so important to instantly find out? I mean, I understand that it's been a long time and answers are to be had, but why not relax and just enjoy the ride?

As for all the characters whose fate we don't know, I can only imagine the mockery this show would endure if they crammed all those answers into the first two episodes. Pine Vallicians would really be walking around and talking about five years ago non stop then!

I'm not sure what you're saying with the cliffhanger part.

I was surprised they told us so completely (I figured they'd try to keep it vague like they've done with everything else) why Kendall left Zach. I think they didn't expect AM to sign up as fast as she did (even if it's for one episode).

Really enjoyed today and seeing David back on the screen.

Liked Petey & Adam interacting.

I keep LMAO when Jesse tries to hide the Cassandra situation from Angie.

I am in lust with Celia's purse/bag and now I'm on the hunt to find irl. I wish I knew someone that just knows bags.

Come on, you have to find it slightly amusing. The "Brian Frons Haters" are basically acting exactly the way he pegged the viewing audience: Zero attention span, unable to hold their interest longer than five minutes... Considering the story has been going for less than 90 consecutive minutes this entire week.

I hate all you early morning watchers. I watched at 10am my time but then had to take off.

Anyway, I thought today felt like the show is starting to find its rhythm. A few random thoughts.

I like Petey. Partially because I thought Rob would be the weak link (model, shows his abs on twitter, etc) but he delivers lines naturally. Still, I hope he improves (and the dialogue writing probably would help here.) One thing, is somebody needs to tell him when you deliver a line you do NOT need to give it an arm gesture as well. He always seems to be acting with his arms. That only works in high school theatre.

Love the small bits of interaction between characters like Opal and Brooke today. I know we don't have as much time, but I sorta wish that instead of making some excuse ("I really have to get to work now--though you just came in two minutes ago") they would cut the scene to something else and then cut back with a generic shot of them finishing coffee and saying "well that was a nice chat..." They did do this better with Joe and Angie yesterday, so it may have just been today, but it's an easy way to give the audience the sense that they did have a deep conversation, even if we weren't a witness to it all.

Celia was MUCH better today, I thought. I admit, I thought Opal would be against Petey going for her, but this makes just as much sense--that she sees her as a means to keeping him in town, and I enjoyed those moments.

The Cassandra stuff makes me uncomfortable. And it's not because I don't think it's a compelling story--I do, that may be the problem. Every time they cut to her I worry about how far they can go--in a way I want the story to be realistic, but I really also don't want even the implication of what is done to her to go to far, I hope they make her, somehow, in more control of her situation soon. It's a fine line--and this worries me much more than any nonsense about if there's swearing or nudity--and I guess it shows that the story is working at least on some level that I want it to be realistic and yet I really don't want AMC to actually show too heavily the extreme horror of sexual slavery (someone on facebook got mad that I termed prostitution "sexual slavery"--I'm sorry, this is not prostitution--at least not from what I think they are going for.) And yet, I'll be disappointed if it's played out simply as a typical soap opera pimp/hooker situation. Either way, I know I'm jumping the gun here, and I guess it's good that--at least until I see how it plays out--it has me conflicted. I did like that they tied it into that sorta half-assed storyline about Zack's casino and mobsters that we saw in the final year on ABC.

The show has me wanting more when it ends (something I haven't felt for a network soap in a LONG time, even when I've really enjoyed the episode) and I *love* that.

I've noticed this with both AMC and OLTL, but are they filming with a "film" filter or something? Sometimes on my HDTV broadcast the movement at first seems a bit weird, though lip synch etc is always dead on--it may be because FXCanada apparently just broadcasts the Hulu+ stream and something about the conversion. I forget about it within a minute, but whenever I start either show after watching anything else on TV I notice that...

And now I'll go to read this long assed thread...

I haven't had a problem with Hulu feed when watching the show...looks great to me.....first viruses now this Eric..tongue.png

Also why hasn't Opal said anything about Tad?? Is she so excited at how hot her son is and now wants to set him up that she forgot about Tad?????

    • @GymnastGuyThanks for posting the three new Capitol 1985 episodes today. The two labeled March 12, and 13 are misidentified. The March 12 labeled one actually aired November 12 1985 which I figured out because Kenny Rogers' movie Wild Horses aired November 12th and it was announced over the "March 12" Cap credits. In addition, Craig Carlson is listed in the April credits but not the March. Craig left Capitol sometime before Oct 85 and rejoined OLTL in the credits by October 15, 1985; he was replaced on Cap by Radcliffe and Hamner. In these posted episodes Radcliffe/Hamner names appear in the March 85 episodes but not in the April.

    • 5-15   And now...back to the A plot. I can't say enough about how great this week has been that I've been enjoying the fallout from the SilkPress/Eva reveal. I can't believe that it's been almost a week, and it is STILL going on. And they are playing every beat. And rightfully so. It's a strength to the story that this episode is full of mostly those beats with one (okay 2) C plots. I loved how this episode seem centered on dealing with the Bill of it all from his reactions to the reactions of the ones who actually care about him. And meanwhile, Kat getting a clue and connecting it back to the plot thread of Laura's accident.    Game recognizes game. My way of saying I loved Bill vs Silk Press Sheila. They have great adversarial chemistry. And I loved that Bill not only gave the heads-up to NuTed, but already figured out that Ted had paid her off. A dumbed-down villain Bill definitely is not. And awww at Naomi walking in on him and NuTed. lol. Like father, like daughter cuz they both stay reading people. Also loved the scene of Naomi and Chels together discussing their feelings about their father in light of the reveal.    It's so sad to see Kat thinking in the right direction and STILL took a wrong turn. That said...great to see the Laura plot thread picked up and Kat moving to get to the bottom of it. It's just sad that her strong disdain toward Eva is blinding her to the real threat. Makes her easy prey for SilkPress to manipulate and harder for Eva to get acceptance if people still think she's up to no good. Also intensifies their rivalry. Kat vs Silk Press Sheila was reaaallly good, too. The direction. The camera angles. The lines. Even got background music.

And...HAHAHA I love how SilkPress Sheila reacts to the word 'crazy' the same way Sheila herself reacts to the word 'bitca' right before one of her catfights on B&B. Honorable mention to another SilkPress vs Eva scene where Eva avoids the gaslight and that Andre/Eva scene where he continues to be there for her.    And speaking of the reveal...now that I've seen the full episode...I've warmed to NuTed a bit. I thought in the brief scene I saw on my busy Thursday that he did what I love when a role gets recast. The actor uses some of the mannerisms of their predecessers, but not do a complete parroting of them. And that I felt he pulled off well. It allows for the actor to slowly enter their own vibe to a role and make it their own. And so far...I felt Keith was still...Ted. Love the scenes with NuTed/Kat. But time will tell if I feel he will make it his own.   The only good thing I can say about that Andre/Ashley scene...they both have gotten comfortable in their roles, and it was nice to see. I'm Team Dani/Andre over here. That said...I actually am loving the C plot of Ashley, Derek, and the apartment because they are finally getting drama. And I'm actually Team Derek though I completely understand where Ashley is coming from. Thankful that we got that phone call with her mother for her POV and background life. She really is not used to living with someone and what that is like. And it's relatable. But she's handling it all the wrong way. As for their overall place on the canvas though, I can't help, but think about what I said in the first week...they are just meta to me...getting the development...or lack thereof...that black characters get on other soaps...just in reverse.    Awww at June saying that she just finds the picture lovely. I don't completely believe her hehe, but it was nice.    The anvils about Eva's birthday...smh. lol.
    • I think we have learned by now that you can never be sure anyone's actually dead on a soap...
    • I think this has been one of the best years in a long time. In no small part due to the fact that so many countries have chosen to sing in their native language. Songs like the ones from Greece and Latvia have benefitted immensely from this, and made those two personal favourites of mine. I think Greece has the most incredibly beautiful staging and Klavdia's voice is outstanding. I don't think she has any real chance of winning, but if she did I would be ecstatic. Luxembourg is another favourite of mine and Laura (with her dancers) really sold that song with the new staging. Her performance in the final was flawless and I will be very disappointed if she doesn't improve on last year's result for Luxembourg (13th).
    • If those came from that mass-produced CD that was put out a while back, I'm afraid those episodes are wildly out of order and are very confusing to listen to. I had to painstakingly put them in order to make sense of things. I need to make my own CD to give to people just to try and fix the problem. Thankfully, I had time during the lockdown to do that. Just a word of warning.

    • With so many reference to Caroline, how many months before 'Linus' appears? We already know *twins* run in the Spencer family. We know very little about Liam's birth, etc. Please tell me it'll never happen. Brad undercutting the significance of Steffy/Hope scenes, which were great, by having Steffy squeal to Taylor less than an hour later. I was initially glad that Carter finally got a leading man story, except they've completely destroyed what made him likeable - from the imaginary House of Forrester, fake LLC papers and, Friday, he blames everything on Hope. Gross. Daphne being certain that Hope would go back to Liam is contrived. She knows nothing about their history. How many times has the Nose met Liam? If, say, Katie, Ridge or Steffy made the suggestion, at least, it would be believable from those characters' history/point-of-view.
