Is it weird that I expected OLTL to be more popular than AMC? Surprised to see AMC doing better on iTunes

not surprised at all. AMC to me always felt more appealing and got more exposure than OLTL.

The amount of hatred Marlene McPherson apparently buildup in year of actual headwriting is staggering. I'd take boring over deliberately offensive myself.

It's Days. If it's not Reilly's demented ghost or a Reilly cover band about 75% of the Internet tunes out.

My thing is though, if the show is actually trying to capture some new viewers, it's missing the mark. I've given up on shows after the first two episodes before if nothing interesting was going on.

This is what I'm saying. Not every episode has to be bombastic but SOMETHING needs to be introduced to really intrigue the audience and I don't feel they've done that as well as they'd hoped.

What would you like to see?

So far, we have a bunch of mysteries going on, a young woman has been abducted, ect.

For the record is is harder trying to get my friends/new viewers into AMC than OLTL so far. Skewing young + slow pace is not a good combo.

It hasn't bothered me that it's been slower and easygoing. I think it fits the show's history and its tone. It's developing something about the town at large and how it's experienced the last five years. But I was built in as a viewer.

For the record I like the build for the most part.

I do feel like where as OLTL appeals to both old fans of the show and genre and new fans of the show and genre. AMC only appeals to old fans of the show and genre so far. If I was not a soap opera fan in general I would not be hooked on AMC. Which is what I am seeing with my friends so far.

If I were trying to get people to watch and hooked? First off whether La Lucci returns tomorrow or a year from now, people soap fans or not know the name Erica Kane, and I would've name dropped her and at least shown a picture of her in the first episode. I would've revealed at least one of the dead or injured. The one thing that did intrigue me that I thought was done right, was slightly showing Cassandra's abduction.

IA. The show didn't reveal much the first episode and imo that was a mistake.

While the Erica Kane character is familiar to most (the name, anyway), I doubt showing a photo of her would hook new viewers. Fans who watched on ABC (like me) would have liked the nod, though.

And that's fine for built in viewers..

Exactly

I think most people will give it a week or two however.

I'm not saying I think there's anything wrong with AMC - I don't really think there is. But I admit my perception may be colored by my history as a viewer.

I apologize for the negative tone of my nature, and if others are enjoying it I'm glad. Just offering a different perspective on things.
