When do Eric and Khan go back to arguing over tentpole characters? That was fascinating, I'm serious.

We're not going back to it, because it isn't worth going back to, lol. Besides, Khan concedes that he's probably largely wrong and way off-base. :)

If Marissa is the one that dies on Thursday, where's Krystle in all this? Did she also die or is she out of town with Tad?

I think on Thursday we find out it was Marissa who died those years ago.. I think Krystal left town with Jenny, I guess Tad and Kathy followed her

That's just all kinds of sad (if true).

FUnny I knew Alfred had popped up ever so often in the 90s but not that late (though I remember the scene).

Alfred made some appearances in the early 2000s, too.

maybe this time he was pushed too far, when Dixie defended JR for what he did

Stay classy, Thaddeus! :(

I wouldn't blame Tad if he dumped Dixie for standing by JR. I really freaking wouldn't.

JR is a crazy !@#$%^&*] who killed Marissa (if that's true) because he was jealous that his wife turned lesbian and took his son. Because, he was nothing but a [!@#$%^&*] drunk.

First off, sorry for quoting so much but you had a great conversation going on last night and I wanted to add my 2 cents.

Angie and David's relationship was so well done--I hope it keeps up. He needs a friend like her who he respects but she won't put up with his crap.

ICAM!

At the end of her interview, Cady McClain expressed a desire to see Richard Shoberg (ex-Tom Cudahy) return, and I'd have to agree. Despite all the drama surrounding his character (the marriages, the drinking, Laura's death), Tom was the kind of grounded and stabilizing force that you don't see now on soaps. Moreover, he and Brooke had one of the most normal and unforced relationships I'd ever seen on television -- from courtship, to marriage, to divorce and subsequent close friendship -- and in a perfect world, they would find their way back to each other and become the real next Joe and Ruth for the show.

I liked Richard Shoberg but I couldn't see breaking up Adam and Brooke, a very popular tentpole couple, just to go back to that.

But, see, I don't see Adam and Brooke as being a tentpole couple. Popular? Of course. But if the show thinks they can provide some kind of foundation to the show as it goes forward, then they're wrong.

Next to David Canary's Adam, Brooke's relationship with Tom was, and is, the only one which works for me.

Well yeah--but that's what's great about Adam and Brooke. B rooke IMHO shouldn't be aged to the more boring/steady tentpole role yet--and with Adam she still has story and conflict.

Opal (who I do want to have stories mind you) and Joe are the tentpole characters on right now I think.

But you need characters like that, Eric. You need 'em, even if all they do is listen to other people's problems over a cup of coffee. Some might think that to be "boring" (which is precisely the excuse TPTB always need to dump 'em) but if you don't have one or two "grown folks" like Dr. Joe and Ruth Martin who can be counted on to remain stable and above the fray, and who can embody the series' basic ethics and speak essentially for the audience, then your show is rudderless, your other characters are rudderless, and you, yourself, are rudderless.

I found this exchange fascinating, but I agree with Eric. I don't want Brooke sidelined as a talk-to and I think her character has more potential as Adam's on-again/off-again lover than Tom's. I would love for Tom to return as a tentpole character though.

That was a dreadful, low point in Brooke's history. Someone should have stopped Megan McTavish from writing that b.s.

IIRC, Jim told Brooke he was going to get Jamie into porn. That's when she blew him away.

I didn't blame her for killing him. I just hated the whole ridiculous story of Jim, underage pornographer/international terrorist. And I hated that the entire town then began running around doing funny gags trying to keep Brooke out of prison.

I hated how Brooke lured him to Stuart's studio without letting anyone else know. As she was getting Jim to confess, I was expecting either Trevor or Tad to step out and tell Jim it was over. Imo, it really dumbed her down to confront Jim by herself.

I always thought that Brooke and Tom's friendship outranked their romance because Brooke was too mousy when she was with him. Brooke, as a stand alone character, came into her own right around the same time as her romance with Adam. While I'm not sure opposites work in real relationships, Brooke and Adam's battles always made each a stronger character on their own.

I want Brooke to be a relevant character this go around, and I don't even want shades of her wringing her hands over her children's issues from 2003 - 2005.

My hope is that the writers will find ways to keep the characters of Adam and Brooke conflicted, but yet still deeply in love.

I want my damn wedding!

ICAM with everything you said!

If anything, I think Jesse and Angie are being positioned as the next generation Joe and Ruth.

I don't mind Jesse/Angie as the next Joe & Ruth, either.

Just don't host it at conFusion... (Thank God it looks like Fushion is dead.) Maybe they can host it at Jane's Addiction.

I want the Valley Inn back for parties, damn it!

But JR is Dixie's son and.... Oh, God, I was about to defend Mother Dixie. Someone hold me.

Or her going straight from dating a child pornographer to the drunk driver that killed her daughter.

LOL
