I've wondered that too but after all these years I think another talented actor could make that character his own. Look at what Cornelius did with Frankie Hubbard. I'd really like to see a couple of young, talented black actors take on the characters of Reggie and Jamal. That could be an awesome rivalry between them as Livia's and Jack's sons, especially with Dani thrown into the mix having to negotiate between her ex and her cousin. There's so much story there.

Damn. I guess I just jumped down the rabbit hole, huh?

I haven't really missed "AMC" (I think it was just too many years of bad writing including LB's last hoorah) and I wish there would be a longer break before a relaunch because I don't want to get sucked back in.

My personal feelings aside, if it happens ... good!

It is suspect that Prospect Park starts a big effort to relaunch the show when it's rumored they were about to lose rights to both shows due to long-term inactivity.

This is a bit of an exaggeration. B&B went to Australia a could years back and just this year spent a few weeks in Italy. How is the remote budget gone? In addition they go on location almost ever week. Not only with the regular trips to Aspen, but around LA. B&B is the best produced soap by a mile. Brad Bell was smart to make the exteriors for the homes on the show the same as homes he owned and also using the CBS lot for Forrester scenes. I feel they've modernized B&B, but still can mix the old music cues in with new ones and it still feels expensive. Y&R could learn a lot from it, same with these Prospect Park soaps.

I feel like if Prospect Park really wants to sell these soaps, they have to modernize them. We already know sets will be different, so instead of making everything look cheap and small, do something different. Look at the UK soaps and build a standing exterior set that you can use, in addition to the indoor sets. There is so much potential, but in the end I see us getting watered down versions of the ABC shows when they should be trying to modernize them and reboot.

It isn't an exaggeration - the budget - below and above the line started a significant downhill slide about seven years ago when CBS reduced their licensing fee for B&B. The show does not have a remote budget as a separate item in their budget anymore, it is taken out of the overall budget, which Brad badly manages. It is because there is more of blur between below and above the line costs - that Susan Flannery and Ronn Moss walked out the door because the show has less overall to payout when the remotes eat into the budget.

The Italy remotes are paid, in part, by the television stations, which air the program over there - therefore, still making it feasible. All that said, the show has also still declined in foreign markets over the last ten years as well.
