Which soap was the first you taped in your VHS video recorder??

I started early in life recording the soaps. I think by the time I was 10 or so, I had learned how to program a VCR (I used to make my older brother set it for me but he got fed up and told me to learn how to do it myselftongue.png ). I would record shows for my Mother and myself. I read the instruction manual, messed up a few times before finally getting it down pat (back then in the mid 80s, setting a VCR was still complicated).

Anyhoo,

I would say Y&R/ATWT. Sometimes Capitol might get caught up in there for a few minutes.laugh.png

Years later, when I started watching Guiding Light, I might record an occasional episode here and there but most days I would be home from school by then.

All My Children

Well, my mom started taping it (with me and my sisters watching the tape after school) around the late eighties/early nineties. I started taping it myself circa 1994 (during the 'Jane Cox' storyline).

Guiding Light. Around the Reva/Annie saga. Just a great time for GL. And I loved how Annie had a part in almost everything going wrong in Springfield at the time. Great umbrella story. Must see TV.

I had boxes and boxes of tapes in my basement for years which was a real pain in the neck. I've recycled most of them when I started archiving Lizard Lick Towing and The Chew.

Leave SFK alone! Wouldn't you much rather watch Carla Hall whip up some of her Granny's fried okra than a classic Viki vs. Dorian fight?

I was used to my mom taping the whole ABC line up when I was growing up, but the first soap I ever made it my business to tape for myself was OLTL during the DID s/l.
