February 28, 201313 yr Member I can understand loving your work and hating where you work. I've done it before.
February 28, 201313 yr Member Perhaps she's hopeful that raising these concerns will change the environment? I'm not sure what she wants (I'm not sure she knows what she wants at this point) but I can understand loving your work and hating where you work. I've done it before. It was also a character she probably sees as hers, one she spent a long time investing in and fighting for. I guess that's very difficult to give up, even if you say oh, she quit, who does she think she is, etc.
February 28, 201313 yr Member I wish they would just recast and really send the message of how irrelevant this loon is
February 28, 201313 yr Member I have no problem with her missing the roel and I won't call her a loon. I don't understand why she keeps paiting herself ina negative light. She shouldn't be telling people not to support the advertisers while also trynig to get back on the show. It's time she moved on and did something positive. Like a poster said in this thread she could've been worknig on a writing program or acting program instead of sitting on twitter bitching. Channel some of that agression into postivity. Hell write her own soap opera!
February 28, 201313 yr Member Hell write her own soap opera! So it's marginalized people's job to provide opportunities that should already be afforded them? If the Black soap writers not hired by Daytime would create soaps that would fix everything.
February 28, 201313 yr Member I wish they would just recast and really send the message of how irrelevant this loon is That doesn't send a message of irrelevance - if anything, it sends a message of being reactionary. She basically was the character, and generally, she was probably the only one keeping "that black storyline," as MAB called it, as something worthwhile on Y&R. I'm just sorry it all had to end this way. Edited February 28, 201313 yr by CarlD2
February 28, 201313 yr Member So it's marginalized people's job to provide opportunities that should already be afforded them? If the Black soap writers not hired by Daytime would create soaps that would fix everything. Never said it would fix everything but it's a hell opf alot more productive than sitting on twitter bitching.
February 28, 201313 yr Member CBS Daytime could have done all of those things but they didn't. Nope, because they didn't give a [!@#$%^&*] about diversity AND neither did VR until she quit in a snit over not getting an Emmy nomination, flung accusations of racism around, and realize that she could not get her job back. Let me add, VR is not an activist. She hasn't gotten off her butt to do anything to address these issues. All she does is spout self-indulgence crap, hiding her self-interest in desperately resurrecting her nonexistence career under the guise of caring about diversity. February 28, 201313 yr Member I think Y&R actually does need Victoria Rowell. The problem is that she has now effectively made that impossible all by herself. When you're having a multiple-day Twitter screed about named Sony and network execs and pushing fans to boycott key products while also asking to come back you've reached the domain of the lunatic fringe. Before this I thought they'd eventually come to terms despite all the drama, but this latest makes me think that'll never happen. It also doesn't help that they finally have a decent black heroine in Angel Conwell, IMO. Regardless of what they do or don't with those people on Y&R, though, I think Rowell has helped submerge herself. Edited February 28, 201313 yr by Vee
February 28, 201313 yr Member she forgot to check herself into a mental ward. the woman is certifiable.
February 28, 201313 yr Member Never said it would fix everything but it's a hell opf alot more productive than sitting on twitter bitching. Minority directors/actors/producers have created tons of work for years but it doesn't get seen. AND neither did VR But she did. She has been vocal for years about diversity on Y&R & Daytime in general.
February 28, 201313 yr Member And there's this thing called the internet and webshows are becoming more popular. And this thing called Netflix where more and more indie films are becomnig viewable. I've seen alot of black productions on there that I wouldn't have seen otherwise.
February 28, 201313 yr Member I've seen alot of black productions on there that I wouldn't have seen otherwise. Yet nobody asks why they have to go that route to be seen at all.
