What are the top 5 things that you hate about your favorite soap?

The bold and the beautiful has always been my favorite, although I am terribly bored by it and has been for a couple of years.

So I will do a Top Five list of what I hate most about B&B.

1. Only having one storyline going at the time, and having all other characters talk about it non-stop as though they have no lives of their own. This did not used to be the case with B&B. They usually had like 3-5 stories going. This thing with only one main story going may work for the prime time shows, but NOT on daily soap operas!!!!!

2. This goes hand-in-hand with #1: Only using half the cast! Since they only have one main story going, the characters not involved are backburnered for months and months and months. And when they DO show up, it's only to talk about the main storyline. I seriously cannot take it!!!!!!!!

3. The cheesy love. I do hate this on ALL soaps. Like recently with Brooke and Ridge and the proposal. It was EMBARRASSING to watch Ridge hiding and Brooke seeking and the giant olive. I wanted to put a pillow over my face in shame.

4. Re-writing past happenings or pretending like something never happened. So many re-writes going on all the time to fit the current and future writing better. We SAW it happen. We do not have amnesia. Stop sugar-coating things or make someone look better by having it not happen like it did happen! What is the point of watching if what we saw suddenly didn't happen?

5. The Logan take-over. To me that family was never interesting to begin with. That's why Bill Bell in 1989 booted them out to bring in the Spectras! 25 years later, that family is STILL not interesting. Bringing in Heather Tom and Jennifer Gareis hasn't helped. De-aging the Logans so that suddenly Katie and Bridget are the same age? Not to mention they totally changed personalities with the re-casts! Donna went from my favorite Logan to the trashy idiot. WTF?! And Katie was the insecure hard-working ugly duckling. Now she's holding Bill's balls and seems more like a spoiled housewife.

And all I wonder is WHEN will Thorne, Kristen and Felicia be seen again?????????????????? When will Eric & Stephanie step up to take charge of the company that is just losing it's trademark style & elegance and rich clientel?????

Y&R:

1) No, no Noah. The character comes and goes with no impact, despite recasts.

2) YOUNG but not CHILDREN. The AMC mass exodus to Genoa City needs to stop. Not even if Lucci is begging to play Jill. Enough!

3) Psychos, psychos everywhere! And two, three at a time! Currently, it's Ricky and Daisy. We've had Patty multiple times...Adam fluctuates...Jana flipped out twice...how about an all-sane cast for one year?

4) This town ain't big enough for the both of us...and a hundred other people! So many unused characters--Gloria, Jeffrey, Kyle, Esther, Nina--the list goes on. Jess Walton knew she could leave and not be missed, at least onscreen. I love a large cast, but let's share the love--I'm talking to you, Five Days A Week Phyllis.

5) I just found Eileen Davidson's salary, and it's called Genevieve, Sofia, Carmine and Sarge. You're welcome.

For ALL MY CHILDREN, AS THE WORLD TURNS, EDGE OF NIGHT and for GUIDING LIGHT:

1. That they're cancelled.

2. That they're not on anymore.

3. That other (and quite frankly, less worthy) shows are on in their place.

4. That their respective networks saw fit to give 'em the axe (instead of trying to, you know, save them).

5. Have I mentioned that they're all gone?

I'll second your list khan....in fact let's make that my top five too! My five will be what I would feel if we were lucky enough to still have (in my case) AMC on the air....b/c with my luck Zendall would still be there ruining everything in their path! Sigh....and I would take that if I could get my AMC back.

OLTL:

1. Its red headed stepchild status--on ABC and in general.

2. The 30 second porn/random asscrack opening from 1992-1995 (although the closing theme was nice).

3. The fact that its opening wasn't updated when AMC and GH updated theirs.

4. That my two favorite female characters (Gabrielle and Blair) were often treated like trash (and in the case of Gabrielle, killed off with little respect and decency by a head writer who was otherwise one of the best the show ever had).

5. The fact that it is gone, and the characters that have crossed over to GH whom I love have seen their stories so maligned up to this point.

DAYS

1. That it is the Sami, EJ, Rafe and Nicole show for years now and that will not be changing anytime soon.

2. That Daniel Jonas is still on the show.

3. That Jack and Stefano have both died and come back countless times now.

4. Goes with number 1, but the horrible imbalance of characters

5. That Days has not created an interesting new character in over a decade.

Days of our Lives

1) That Chris Kositchek is pretending to be Roman Brady

2) That we no longer have those cool last scene freeze frames with the credits and music playing over it.

3) That we will never get to see a Sami/EJ/Will triangle

4) That budget cuts mean we can't have awesome sets like Doc's penthouse or the Penthouse Grille and that big reveals, like John and Marlena's affair can't happen in front of the entire cast at some big event any longer.

5) Marty Davich's awesome background music is gone

Days-

1. The lack of balance. Really, the show hasnt been balanced in 15 years aside from when the supercouples were written out and the leading 30's group, veterns and teen scene all crossed over. It really worked and im sad it didnt last. The show has also, aside from Will and sometimes Abby gone back to keep groups isolated.

2. Horton. Town. Sqaure. Its like the pier, except worse. Everything happens in this damn shopping center/block/thing/whatever.

3. SUPERCOUPLES. They worked in the 80's. They became what has hurt this show the most.

4. The inability to keep a younger generation. Good young actors, and even bad ones, are not staying past their 4 year contracts. It is a given, but learn how to recast. There is no reason that basically nobody from the Saved by the Belle crew or the Sorority group are left. Then there is this current set that has a good cast and good chemistry but nothing is being done with them. Why Abby & Sonny are not both sleeping with the same guy is beyond me. (And lets be real, Will/EJ/Sami is absolutely where they should go with him, but wont. I wish this were a UK soap!)

5. babies. i hate them all. i do not want another damn baby story for 3 years.

What I hate most with soaps today is continually throwing major stories at actors who cannot handle them. I'm not that into B&B, although I watch, but one thing they have learned to do is to write stories which suit the actors who play them. It's a real contrast to GH, which is full of shocking actors who are given ridiculous material and drown in it.

AMC

1. The show's inability/unwillingness to cast endearing teens-early twentysomethings by the mid-'90s. There had always been such charming young actors on the show, and with the changing times and tastes of television producers, the show lost a lot of its sense of self and followed primetime's trend of young, obnoxious, vapid twits of either sex.

2. Cameron Mathison as the second face of AMC.

3. The obnoxious Fusion girl wannabe SATC dialogue.

4. The loss of the sense of community and multi-generational relationships in small town PV.

5. Jesse, Angie, Frankie, recastRandi, Rebecca, Natalia, and Brot being denied the depth of dormant front burner material while we got more of the same from Ryan, Greenlee, and Kendall.

OLTL

1. The travesty that became of Dorian Cramer Lord.

2. All too often falling back on goofy and stupid. That's fine and good when you're knocking the drama out the park 9 times out of 10. But the satirical stuff shouldn't have taken such precedence.

3. Jessica's idiotic and insulting DID s/l. ALL of it.

4. Robert. Ford.

5. Writing that essentially amounted to fanfic. Particularly all of the insta-relationships, making everybody and their brother related, and bringing back old characters for cheap stunts that didn't illuminate them as much as destroy them.
