Been reading @Reverend Ruthledge 's summations of GL during the 1960s--WOW, the Bauers were a dysfunctional family.
It's just so weird when I remember them as the stalwart, righteous (sometimes self-righteous) family that I got to know from the mid-70s on. Mike was a creep back in the day. I never liked the character that much, but finding he also committed marital rape is wild. (Yes, I know attitudes about that was different then, but his wife ended up having a breakdown).
Of course, all soap opera families are dysfunctional to a point, but at least the patriarch and matriarch kind of have it together, which you cannot say about Bill and Bert. I can't think of another show where this is the case, unless this was more normal early on in soap history.
It's so interesting to see how the Bauers underwent an evolution over the decades. Thanks @Reverend Ruthledge for the time and effort you take to share these with us.
