ATWT sounds like a mess at this time - David was dating Cynthia but was actually interested in Suz, right after divorcing Ellen?? And Maggie is sleeping with the man her client wants to divorce, then she goes along with him in jewel heists? Was this the end of that Matt character?

AMC - Betsy seems totally isolated from everyone else on the show. I'm not sure why they felt they needed her, did they think they needed another young ingenue besides Jenny or Nina? I never knew Opal was interested in Tom.

That woman with her mouth open looks so much like Vivian on AW. I didn't realize that woman stayed on AMC all the way to 1991.

Herb was also mayor.

I've never seen Viki's first run for mayor, but I do think that idea made sense (Viki becoming mayor and trying to stop drugs in Llanview). It seemed to disappear once Viki was shot. Then later she gave up the job entirely so she could spend more time with Clint.

I liked the idea of Alex being mayor more than I did Alex actually being mayor. The campaign story was fun (aside from too many scenes of Nigel smirking/rolling his eyes/overdoing his one-liners), but I think it would have been better to leave Alex in a lower level position, manipulating Mayor McNamara. Liz McNamara was one of the most believable mayors I've ever seen on a soap - delusional, elitist, always looking for someone to blame, power-mad. She was just fascinating to watch.

ATWT -as you can see the Dobsons had returned and were trying to deal with what had happened in their absence-tying things up and introducing new stories.Margo joining the police and Barbara's dreams.

Days- Pat Falken Smith shows how it should be done-interesting new characters interacted with favorites and using history.Such a pity she soon was out and DePriest/Anderson tinkered with her plans.

SFT - This really was a time, with the move to NBC, that the show needed to get back on track.Hunt/Ellis were capable of so much more.

AMC - the whole Betsy/Rick /Carrie /Pauline thing was a waste=none of these characters had any real ties to the canvas.

The early 80's were when so many shows started to drift, endlessly adding new chaarcters and destroying their heritage.

Looking at The Doctors it appears that Lemay introduced Adrienne and Ivie and wrapped up the Theo and Katy story. His stint was so short lived that I never was sure what he was responsible for. Thanks FF for these as they help to clear up which writers were responsible for character and story.
