Yes, it is region 2. I highly recommend the purchase of a region free player. They are not very expensive and well worth having, not only for European productions you might enjoy, but also for cases such as this where an American program is available only in a foreign format.

I have received my GL set, and as Goldensoaps commented, the episodes are wonderful in quality and content. I just scanned the set today, and it appears the episodes commence from mid-September 1979 and will include a death, a marriage, and an attempted murder. I am beyond thrilled with the release and can make available by private viewing for those who may want a glimpse to consider purchasing.

I noticed a lot of familiar faces like Rita Lloyd who was on ATWT and Sophia Landon Grier....who did each actress play?? I wish I could get my hands on the dvd set. What years does it cover??

Rita Lloyd played Lucille Wexler, Amanda's mother. Sophia Landon Geier played Diane Ballard, Alan's secretary. This set is 20 episodes from 1979, and it is a sequential set.

I was going to ask the same thing...not sure though that I would buy it because I dont have a region free dvd player/recorder....although I have read nightmares about owning a region free dvd player.

My set cost $50.80, including shipping. The base price was 29.99 Euros. It shipped on June 22, so I'm still waiting here in CA! Roger and Alan in their prime adversarial deliciousness, YUM!

I have a region-free player. Phillips devices are easy to hack. But $50 for 20 episodes is steep, especially if they're released frequently. I haven't even purchased every Soap Classics release.

I think the most expensive part is the shipping because 29 € equals 34 $. For German standards, 29 € is a moderate price for a DVD set.
