This was the first time Fraternity Row was mentioned on OLTL in years. I think the last reference was when Snoop was on as that's how he and Bo knew one another. Snoop worked at Fraternity Row back when Bo was in charge.

I agree with you, but if the idea of the show is that it's supposed to be a good show and they don't want to see it canceled, then basically treating it as trash is kind of strange, especially if Fraternity Row is some meta statement on OLTL's demise, like, "Hey, that sucks too, and the fans know how stupid it is, they can't help themselves." If fans only ever saw soaps as addictive trash then soaps would have gone a long time ago. I think RC's writing just focuses more on somewhat bitter parodies - which is why they used Roxy to take a dig at fans who don't like history rewrites. When they dredged up that Christmas movie every year that wasn't treated as garbage.

Yeah that's essentially what I was going for. Thanks for wording it more eloquently haha.

Yes. Unfortunately. sad.png

It made me miss my man Max wub.png a lot more too, considering Steve was his brother sad.png . And of course, Gabrielle, but that's a given (well, okay both are no matter what).

It just makes me wish the mid- and late-'80's had never happened.

But then I wouldn't have been born! laugh.png LOL I know what you mean. smile.png

At the same time, though, Rauch gave us Max & Gabrielle, my favorite couple on the show, and my favorite theme song, too. I have to give him credit where credit's due.

I just noticed they had Jack and Shaun say the show was stupid or crap or whatever (which obviously represents how many males/the general TV viewing audiences feel about soaps) but it bothered me that they didn't have any characters say it WASN'T crap. Sure, they all continued to watch it (including Shaun even after he thought the Brianna/Branden twist was stupid) but they didn't say the show itself was something of worth, just that it was addicting no matter how bad it got. That's a different message than I thought it was and almost makes it seem like the producers/writers acknowledge that it's crap.

It think RC mirrored exactly what some people say on these message boards and he obviously got kick out of it.

1985-1990 OLTL was appointment TV. It was cooking on all cylinders and there was not a bad story or dull character to be found. There has not been a soap since that could touch it.

Oh I have to agree with Roxie, if I could choose one story to watch again, Eterna would be the only choice. It is really frustrating that with such a wealth of content on YT this one story didn't survive except for a few chopped up clips.

I can't help it. I'm excited. I NEVER thought this would happen. I'll probably keel over if we get a PEOPLE issue laugh.png .

I bet even less of those hens ever watched OLTL and have knowledge about it than they did of AMC. It should be interesting to see how the BS through an entire hour. I hope TSJ and FL appear as well as Andrea Evans and John Loprieno. Oh and Fiona and James

I'd agree that 1985, '86 and '87 were banner years for OLTL. However, by 1988, I felt the show had become far too outrageous for its own good.

I'm so glad "The View" decided to do a special tribute to OLTL. I don't think I'll be able to watch it, though. :(
