It has got to be the most condescending show I've ever seen. the above clip for example.. "That's math"... REALLY? It's possible that theyr'e trying so hard that they don't REALIZE they are talking down to everyone. But how could they not?

Because no matter what this is still ABC Daytime. I actually agree that the promos seem awful but it's like any other "pilot." After a month or two, they'll retool the show based on feedback.

“Let’s face it: this is a cliché parade for women,” said Laura Shapiro, a historian of both food and feminism and author of books on “The Joy of Cooking” and Julia Child. After watching previews of the shows that are available online, she noted that its two accomplished chefs were both men; that the two women on the show were presented as giddy and lacking in authority; and that its culinary ambitions were set extremely low. Child, she noted, reached a mass audience for years, appearing on “Good Morning America” in the 1970s.“Her idea was not that you had to candy-coat everything for people, dumb down the food and have a pajama party in their kitchen,”

How odd that they say people want more food shows, yet can only point to one food-oriented area - the Food Network - having increased ratings.

Instead of a food show, I would like something more educational such as learning a language. I doubt I will watch the Chew. I don't even like the name.

Ha it's funny because back in 1975, a therapist did a series of articles--she said that soap operas were wasting women's lives away, bla bla. One of her suggestions was that they do them all, or half the characters, in a foreign language to teach women something useful, or center them around how to provide nutritious meals for their families. It got a lot of angry replies--with good points (why did people think soap operas were a waste of time, but not the more male targeted prime time shows? Couldn't they watch Sesame Street if they wanted to be educated--the whole point of soaps was to take a break in the day for escapism. Who said it's some how more worthy to spend two hours watching a play than two hours watching a soap, etc).

The View ladies look like they shove food in their mouths in between blather. So much for educating the stupidos.

I'd rather watch reruns of 'My Mother, the Car,' the NBC 1965 series which is considered to be the worst tv show in history. It starred Jerry Van Dyke (Dick's brother) and the voice of his, reincarnated as a 1928 Porter was done by Ann Sothern.
