WOW! Thank you for posting that!

That's from 1991- Conboy was EP and the Dobsons had recently been reinstated as Head Writers. Sophia is in the coma because Eden had shot her (from the split personality resulting from the Lionel/Sophia affair, adding much subtext to the dialogue spoken). It was just revealed that Lionel isn't really Warren's father.

That scene and Louise's performance both were simply DIVINE. I had long forgotten about it.

Again, thanks for posting, as it fills a gap in my writing on RTSB. I DEFINITELY plan to use that clip as a flashback so thank you, Thank You, THANK YOU!

And yes, she should have won Emmys in 95 and 96 for these performances.

(Same thing- had to EDIT and make the first one a link, since it's a "Do Not Embed" Video)

Carly's Early Scenes

Worth adding, if only to prove that Shawn Christian could act once upon a time and that Maura brought out the best in even the weakest of her costars.

That was great, and she was a little cuckoo Vivian, no?

Who is the brunette in the scene with Wagner?? She is sporting some crazy bone structure, very striking like a He-Man/She-Ra character.

She got a decent performance out of Austin Peck. That alone should make her emmy worthy. I hesitate to say her name in the same breath as McKinsey's but only because McKinsey is a legend. Not just a soap "icon" like LaLucci, but truly an acting genius.

That's Cassandra/Cassie Benedict, foster child of the Capwells, illegitimate daughter of Minx Lockridge, lover to Mason and Warren (who turned out not to be Lionel's son as mentioned in the clip)--all revisionist history I could never care about, and despite the efforts, I never could warm up to Cassie. She was never as interesting and complicated as some of the 'vixens' I've seen elsewhere, eg. Blake on GL.

Not just fired, but fired over a repulsive storyline (Augusta falling for her sister's rapist). I was upset they made Julia yet another soap rape victim, but the Augusta twist just took the cake.

Augusta, but I digress!

The brunette in the scene with Wagner is Cassandra Benedict, played by Karen Moncrief. Moncrief also played Gabrielle Pascal on DAYS, an interloper between Kim & Shane in the late 80s.

I still don't buy that they were actually going to have Augusta fall for Dash. It wasn't known for sure whether Dash had actually raped Julia at the time (well, the viewers knew because this is JULIA we're talkin about) so I believe that Augusta was flirting with Dash in the hopes of coaxing the truth out of him. I think Louise may have jumped the gun on this one- I just can't see them honestly having Augusta fall for Julia's rapist and I don't think that's where they were actually going with it, however it may have been seen by Sorel and others.

About the Maura West comments, I agree that she is a daytime legend. In fact, I don't even hesitate to give her the title of the best actress in daytime. As heartbroken as I am that Y&R has let her go, I could see her excelling in primetime and maybe even movies. The woman has a talent that you don't see very often.

    • I think Bill covered for Martin's crime..
    • It's so jarring seeing the changeover from Sherry Mathis to Louan Gideon.  The vibe, mannerisms, and overall personality of Liza changes instantly. The chemistry Sherry has with both David F and Joe Lambie is gone the second the recast happens.  I wonder how viewers took the news of the recast since you didn't have time in between airings before the change happened. Quinn/Sarah... One overacts (Quinn) and one under acts (Sarah). Wendy of 1985 is a good mix of the 1982 sweet Wendy and the 1983/84 vixenish Wendy.
    • Oups!! I guess when i was doing the editing, i left a part of 3169, too (RTL Lounge airs 2 episodes per day back to back). Sorry about that ! Tonight i ll try to record 3171-3172. If i m not mistaken 3172 is missing from YouTube.

    • I would put Felicia in the 'small dose' auntie category because she means well, but comes on too strongly at times.  In small doses, she would be a blast to hang out with.. but in anything larger than a small... she would be exhausting. I tend to prefer lower key people than people that are always 'on' all the time.  Those people can veer off into energy vampire status pretty quickly.
    • I didn't like the Harry story, but Nazar did have a great introduction. He was probably the highlight of last year.  Now that you mention it, I guess the truly dire stories (Nicole, Harper/Drew/Phil, Nicole) didn't start until summer.
    • thank you all for contributing to the Vault. I am slowly getting towards watching the 1998 episodes

    • I pray⏤and I know it's a big prayer⏤that Noel Maxam is somehow able to figure things out budget-wise so we can stop re-dressing existing sets as "new" sets. I know in apartment buildings apartments can generally look the same, but I'm over it on this soap. The last time he was executive producer was in 2011 when the original Horton Town Square was introduced, and we had some other sets get introduced around this time (likely pre-commissioned prior to his election), but I'm trying to have some hope he can pull this off. Let's [finally] see it.
    • Definitely not the best of RC's breakdowns. I don't know what it says that I could pick up his trademarks yesterday 30 minutes in without even knowing that he did one. There was something more...quirky/boardstroked...about Dani. Though I love the Dani/Nicole scenes, she was just a little too hip?...which made me think back to the episode when she broke into Bill/Hayley's house. Then watching the episode later on, I saw Hayley was being used as a punchline to the more interesting and relevant Bill/Ted scenes (see you all were just talking about how you hoped they got scenes...one thing this show is great at...what people want on this board...they already have the foresight for it. The reason I feel the DNA test will get mentioned @Cheap21 in more detail). And then poor Anita reduced for the most part propping up an album.    Needless to say, not my favorite RC episode. And since we are in aftermath week, I just smh. And barely worth a rewatch. BUT...was there good for me?    Yes. Thankfully, we still got good aftermath beats regardless of the breakdown.   Like I said, I really like the Dani/Nicole scenes. But I love their dynamic. And I was looking forward to the shoe being on the other foot once the SilkPress storyline hit climax. Quirks aside, it did not disappoint. Dani came in, and she came in fierce for her sister. I loved her attacking Eva. And then her being surprisingly introspective about Nicole due to her own experience. No wonder Nicole reacted to her being self-aware. So did I.    Meanwhile Bill and Ted finally met up. I'm kinda sad that we did not get that sooner given the scenes that played out sidepiece in the background aside. It might have been interesting to see more of their status as non-Duprees coming into the family explored.    And of course I can't leave without mentioning Eva vs SilkPress Sheila which was the highlight. Both of them were giving. And SilkPress was just so cold with it. I did love that Eva finally stopped letting her gaslight her. Sad to see the duo break up. But I did love that she went to Ted. So...the next turn begins.   And speaking of turns...uh oh at Kat and Tomas. I'm sure he won't be staying away from her. So most definitely, Kat vs Eva ain't over. It will be interesting to see how it goes now that most people know that Kat was right all along.
