Well I don't believe her.

And I am sure she will be back onscreen when the show and those that run it thinks it is appropriate businesswise to put her back in considering their lack of taking stock of where they are w/her situation knowing it would come back to bite them in the bum when she is the midst of a good story. And perhaps she should have been taking stock of how they have used her as well. Melody has been in this business long enough, she knows how to play the game. She is not pulling the wool over my eyes, I am a fan of hers as well.

Now if she keeps this up, maybe she will need the fans a lot more than she thinks after all.

I'm pretty sure that's incorrect. JFP left in 1990, Conboy was EP from 90-91. The Dobsons came back as Head Writers, but never reclaimed the EP position. Rauch was EP from 91-93.

And it begins: Branco is reporting that Scott makes double what Eric Braeden does and that she will not renegotiate -- so the show needs to give her extended periods of time off. What's more, Scott knows full well that she'll be coming back.

Oh, I don't know any more than anyone else does :) Just saying I'm not surprised she's not a team player and would rather think of her own pocketbook than for the good of the show. Even the biggest divas (Lucci, Zimmer, Slezak, Strasser) willingly took paycuts for the sake of their shows while others offered to do so (Deidre) rather than be dismissed altogether. Like Nelson said, it's 2011 not 1989. Or even 1999.

If what Nelson's mole said is true, would MST be the current highest paid person in soaps? Or would that be TG OR MB on GH or something?

Well, MTS says that she has taken several pay cuts over the years. Obviously, I don't know if that's true or not. I take what both sides say with a grain of salt. Still, MTS is speaking for herself, not using anon moles, so that makes me believe her side a little more. I'm sure the real truth lies somewhere in between.

I have a tough time believing she makes twice as much as what Braeden makes, and if Branco is saying it I have an even more difficult time believing it.

He should tell MAB and Sony that when they blow yet more money on overhyped "stars" who do absolutely nothing for the ratings.

Yeah, I don't believe that either. I think Sony wants her to take another cut and that's what's behind that anon source. I hope they can come to some sort of reasonable agreement eventually.

This story is fascinating. Even IF MTS took pay cuts, there is lots to cut. Wasn't there that huge battle in 2001 (the last time when actors could actually increase their income) where Y&R was ready to write her out and she won in the end? Hence she INCREASED her salary closer to what EB was making...

I see MTS as very selfish and diva-ish but don't think that's Brancos version of the story is the truth. Theres NO WAY that she is making more than Eric Braeden and she definitely took a cut last year.

I just wonder what the difference between JW and MTS is 'cause La Walton really seems to have to a VERY low guarantee these days...

In today's economy and considering how ageist Hollywood is and how little work is out there for actors now, it's arrogant and stupid for me to say Melody should go if she gets anywhere near the "deal" Jess got, but I'll say it anyway. Jess rarely appears, and when she does, it's usually just so that Sheffer and the other woman-haters clogging up this show can give her another kick.

In 2009 this same routine started about these selfish actors who made so much and how they needed to take cuts because times are tough. Never did I hear anything about TPTB doing anything to cut costs. Instead they have continued to burn through money on costly and pointless hires, most of whom are out the door within 6 months and have actually lowered the ratings.

And here we are again. With "sources" trying to whip the plebians into a frenzy about these out of control, wildly paid megastars. Meanwhile, Sony and MAB are probably throwing money at any ABC name they can think of, as well as more "stars" like Sean Patrick Flannery who can sit around for a few months looking stupefied before they leave again.

I enjoyed their individual scenes with other characters before they all came together at the Pub to commiserate over their relationships with Sami. I thought that was broken down pretty well. I just wish it had gone on a little longer. And I actually found it kinda funny too lol it seemed more mature than what we're used to. That's the kind of humor that should be on a soap. But I'm not really sure about all this talk of Dante Vitali and Sami's engagement though, especially since it doesn't look like Ali Sweeney is coming back anytime soon. What's the point of it all if we're (probably) not going to see it? It also looked like today was the first round of Brady vs. Xander as well lol I enjoyed their fight, and I'm interested in seeing this storyline play out. Even though I'm sure that Sarah will ultimately go back to Xander in the end, I'd like to see what happens along the way, and how they and everyone around them are affected by this. Btw, Theo and Jada? Idk. I still think he had the most chemistry with Arianna. And he was a bit of a dick too. It also seemed a little out of character for Jada for her to be so OK with him being such a dick  And though Alex and Stephanie were very boring again and need much better conflict than this book stuff, I am interested in the mystery of who's targeting Alex.  And yeah, I know this is a nitpick, but why is the Square still open after the gala? Isn't it supposed to be really late at night?
    • In fairness, Hillary and Bob Woods were thick as thieves again at least by the end of OLTL. But both she and I believe Mark Derwin not so subtly dissed Kale Browne in the oral history, lol.

    • Frat Boy Jr.'s reaction to seeing Luna was just awful acting. It was so bad that I started laughing.

Does anyone have screenshots of it?
    • Geez, I hadn't heard that Doctors story. HBS really did go through it.
    • No offense to the actors involved, but dear God in heaven: I don't know HOW viewers managed to get through that storyline with Maggie, Frank, Cal and baby Jill without running into oncoming traffic.  Then, to make matters worse, they dragged poor Diana into the mess!  I don't care WHO gets that damn baby!  Just wrap it up and move ON already!
    • Poor HBS.  To have to put up with Stephen Burleigh, who stuck his knee between her legs while rehearsing a love scene on THE DOCTORS, then told the director that's what he did with his wife; Kincaid, who had more hair on his chest and upper lip than Koko the Gorilla; Kale Browne, who taped his lines all over the OLTL studio floor, because he couldn't ever be bothered to [!@#$%^&*] memorize them; and Robert S. Woods, who apparently thought it was still 1979 and that he was still smolderingly sexy, so why should Bo Buchanan be stuck being in a happy marriage with Nora?  After all that, no wonder she jumped at the chance to play a lesbian on VENICE, lol.
    • @Maxim Thank you for the mini-review and clip from several pages ago. I appreciate you using the Bo/Alex clip as them meeting again by this point was a real surprise to me. The scene has some layers, getting a glimpse of Alex genuinely wanting the best for Bo rather than gloating. I was disappointed it ended with Tina dragging her out of the room for some much less interesting sparring (I did enjoy Alex pointing out just how quickly Tina got over Cord).
