April 30, 201114 yr Member The only couple on OLTL I want to see together and happy (which is a relative term, as far as these two are concerned) are John and (not?)Todd. Otherwise? Couldn't. Care. Less. John: I don't want you to blow it. Todd: I'm not gonna blow anything.
April 30, 201114 yr Member Not sure if this was posted, Stephanie Gatschet has answered questions and they're posted on her website: http://www.stephaniegatschet.com/confidential.shtml I like this: Jennifer: Which AMC character, besides Madison, will you miss the most? Stephanie: I think we'll all miss seeing the iconic Susan Lucci on our screens as Erica Kane.
April 30, 201114 yr Member I also felt Ellen Wheeler got unfairly blasted a lot. Sure she did a lot wrong but I always felt she loved what she did, loved the show, and really tried to give it some life. As Don Henley & Patty Smythe once said (or sang), sometimes love just ain't enough.
May 1, 201114 yr Member The writing would have helped GL in Peapack, but those people didn't know what the hell they were doing out there. Yup. It's pretty sad when "Venice" and "The Bay" look better by comparison. John: I don't want you to blow it. Todd: I'm not gonna blow anything. Cue the '80's power ballad/McManning love theme. ;-)

Stephanie: We all had unique reactions to the news. Of course we were all sad about it. I'd say there was an initial sense of wishing it weren't so, of anger that we didn't get a fair shot at bringing the ratings back up, and of comaraderie as we all shared our reactions over drinks at the neighborhood bar (AMC took a big break from shooting that day, and the cast and crew spent that time at the bar, digesting the news and yummy bar food!) There were tears, but also laughs. We are a family, and this news felt sort of like finding out that we've gotta "flee the nest" pretty soon . So true.

That's the only part of this that really pisses me off. For all of AMC's flaws, the main reason I hate seeing people say AMC deserved cancellation is because I don't think AMC deserved to be canceled as much as S&K's writing. The AMC that got canceled wasn't AMC or any variation of it. It was boring, half-assed garbage vomited up by proven hacks. I can't think of a writing regime that was less in tune with what AMC was. (No, not even Pratt.)

(No, not even Pratt.) PLUS. ONE. ;-P I've said it before, I'll say it again: this isn't like when GUIDING LIGHT was canceled, and everyone was just relieved it was over. There was still "life" left in AMC (and in OLTL, too!). All it needed was time, decent writing, and a network executive w/o an itchy trigger finger. But if telling yourself that you did everything you could to save these shows gets you through the night, Mr. Frons, then go right ahead.
May 1, 201114 yr Member ...Should not be worn by senior citizens. Why not? She looked great in it. I don't see why she shouldn't wear it if she still can. I can't pull off a dress like that and she has 40 years on me.
May 1, 201114 yr Member I can't see how EastEnders can make scenes in a filthy-looking street market, with such lovely set pieces as garbage cans, looks gorgeous while Guiding Light made scenes in charming, Americana-ish little Peapack look like sh!t. Well, that's what happens when you have an inexperienced EP w/ no sense of how to run a telethon let alone a legendary TV series in charge. I'm not saying a more qualified EP would have been more successful w/ the experiment, but I do think even a Paul Rauch would have done as you've suggested, AMS, and brought over someone who's worked under similar conditions on an overseas soap to guide his team on how it could be done w/o making everyone look like utter fools. I swear, it's almost as if TeleNext forced the Peapack Experiment on Ellen Wheeler in order to get their shits and giggles, knowing full well she'd flop.
May 1, 201114 yr Member ...Should not be worn by senior citizens. I thought she looked really good. Yes, there is a ton of make up on, but she has the body to pull it off, and Jay Leno seemed sincerely impressed.

I am surprised Frons let them take the day off.
