Disney has been trying to pare down ABC for months now. Daytime has not been the only area impacted. The news division has been gutted and the investment

in primetime lower than in past years. There is a reason ABC has been actively trying to push the concept of "Reality TV" for weeks on the network.

I believe that OLTL will stop taping right before Thanksgiving. Erika mentioned November. OLTL is so far ahead as it is. Makes sense that the show would stop taping before the holidays. That's when OLTL ends for me, when I know those sets have been taken down forever and no actors are taping in that studio. Makes me sad to think about all of those crew members out of jobs right at the holidays in addition to everything else.

But does that mean they are doing it to try to sell the network or just lower the costs to make a better profit? If they want to sell it to someone, why not just sell it and let the buyer worry about paring down the costs by cutting things left and right?

Because maybe the buyer doesn't want to pay for it as is, assuming there is a buyer. It's like selling a house. The buyer agrees to a certain price provided you agree to paint and have the furnace inspected.

There was a news item last year (year before?) where somebody was being investigated for insider trading and I vaguely remember a mention about ABC possibly being sold to a private equity firm. Who knows?

ABC Soaps In Depth Official Page ABC just sent out a press release announcing Katie Couric's deal -- the release states that ABC "continues to support General Hospital, and the plans to launch The Chew in September of this year and The Revolution in January 2012." As soon as we know what, exactly, Couric's show means for GH in the 3 pm timeslot, we'll let you know!

The one thing that stood out to me was

"The eight ABC Owned stations in New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, Philadelphia, San Francisco, Houston, Raleigh/Durham and Fresno, which represent nearly 23% of the nation's TV households, have already cleared the new show in the 3:00 p.m. time slot."

And Ron sort of did like a half-assed rewrite to bring them together. Apparently, Stephanie had never met Alex until 2022, even though she already knew Sonny, Joe and Vic
    • Friday Thoughts:    June and Hayley are going to turn out to be related, or else why the casting on June's character if not for that.  Their voices and mannerisms are similar and Marquita had mentioned in an interview that we would be finding out more about Hayley's backstory.   Tomas/Eva/Kat is for sure going to be moving full steam ahead.. and I can't wait

Dani/Bill = yawn    Bill/Smitty = Interest reeved up and we all know that means the secret involving Martin/Smitty/Anita is kicking into high gear for May sweeps. Vanessa/Nicole = A satisfying friendship scene.. and Nicole's statement about Vanessa's outside interests.. I did not see that coming Nicole/Andre = I noticed that Andre volunteered knowing about the affair, but managed to withhold the nugget of information where he had convinced Ted not to confess to Nicole. Dani/Ted = This perked my interest Nicole/Silk Press Sheila = A great way to end a Friday episode.  Sometimes grandma's soaps shouldn't be discarded, but followed. Martin/Smitty = Kat is right that Smitty is too good for Martin.. and Martin did act as though he missed his afternoon nap. Ashley/Derek = Unpopular opinion.. I actually kind of missed them.   I view their scenes as a great way to kickstart a drinking game... take a shot anytime you wonder to yourself what is the point to their characters and/or either one of them says something cringey.  You'll be guaranteed to be buzzing by the end of the episode Previews for next week: Looks like Nicole has found out about Dani/Andre's FWB set up? Kat vs Silk Press Sheila looks promising.
    • I think it depends on whether the character has a passionate fanbase. A character like Ava always has people who will defend her and back her up, as does a character like Nina (when they used to write for Nina, anyway). Dante doesn't.
    • Go 'head, Martin!! GATHER.   Oh my goodness!!! Now we are getting Bill/Smitty. The combos today.
    • Yeah; I feel like, in previous regimes, it wasn't as consistent as this. You could go episodes without it changing. I just hate the random indent on the secondary head writer.
    • Got it. I vaguely remember this being discussed. I guess it's fair.
    • Why does this Smitty/Kat talk feel like foreshadowing what's coming with Martin's Secret?   Hahaha. Not Kat and Tomas keep getting business in their way. And uh oh...Eva.   Oh, there's Ashley and Derek. Mmmm those pants.   And ooooooooo another Ted/Martin scene. YES, PLEASE.   Andre...no, no, no!!!! This is going to come back on you with Dani!!
    • I believe in the separation of church and soap.
    • Danny and Rocco..... and Lulu(who usually annoys the heck out of me) were the best thing about today's boring episode. Even Sasha and Willow's were

I'm all for the long game, but this is stuff is going on and on and on..........
    • Definitely. Paul and Eric said as much in their zoom in January. I think October might see the real vision of the new team.
