For such a popular soap Y&R has always had a horrible output online. We really have been spoiled this past year or two. We’ve seen stuff from the 70s and 80s in particular that we never thought we’d see. Every year I hope it’s the year someone does something official for soaps streaming and I’m again going to hope for that in 2021. I mean we did finally get The Doctors app so maybe we will get lucky. I’m hopeful for Y&R that the high ratings for the classics leads them to doing something on CBS All Access.

I completely agree!! :)

Sadly, most daytime soaps have a horrible digital and streaming presence. Little to no way to access their library of episodes.

The New York Public Library is looking at ways to make their dance collection more accessible, via digital platform. Certain choreographers have already started this, so that dance scholars, students, teachers and choreographers can access the performances and rehearsals, workshops without having to physically come into the library at Lincoln Center. Many of these performances stretch back all the way back to the 40s, 50s, perhaps even earlier.

If the dance world, which was never the huge money maker that daytime dramas were can undertake this effort, how can the likes of P&G not be able to put even some measure of that effort?

After Dark Shadows got its own PlutoTV channel, why not Y&R? Doesn’t need to be every episode but maybe something more like a memorable moments channel.

Unlike Dark Shadows and the Doctors, Y&R still airs, which may complicate matters.

Also, unlike primetime soaps that likely have some type of syndication deal, I doubt most daytime soaps even considered such a thing. Soaps with relatively short runs should've considered this.

At the very least special DVD releases should have been seriously considered.

The only short run soap I could even seen succeeding in a syndication would be Sunset Beach but that has longgggg past it’s time. I remember Sci-Fi tried to rerun Passions but it flopped badly.

I would love if Generations was rerun again...it was run on BET back in the day so why not run it again?

I would love to see it rerun again on cable, streaming or perhaps on the over air channel called Bounce which showcase mostly black television programs.

I just feel like only cancelled soaps would really consider putting out collections for purchase. Y&R barely wanted to air their classic episodes during their production shutdown.

At about 6 minutes Terry Lester talks about the appeal of a bad boy. There's also a brief clip with Jack and Brad (no idea if the full version is available already).

I forget what anniversary it was, but CBS All Access released the first 25 episodes of B&B to celebrate and to this day they still remain. Something like that would be nice. They have the platform. Little drops like that could entice more soap fans to subscribe and all the soaps have streaming homes where they can do that. That’s just something small they can do. P&G could have their own channel similar to The Doctors and a lot of their stuff is already converted.

I think it was the same time the episodes 1-25 were released on official DVD in States. That was I think November 2012.
