Members kalbir
1984-1987 Victor/Ashley worked because Bill Bell saw that EB and ED acting styles matched. I didn't feel they had off the charts heat generating romantic chemistry though. To me Victor/Ashley were done with their goodbye at the Winter Ball in December 1987. I don't know what made Bill Bell revisit Victor/Ashley with Brenda Epperson in the role as I found there was no connection between EB and BE so their marriage/divorce storyline didn't work for me.

Members YRfan23
Thanks!! We’ve gotten some of this scene but I believe it’s the first time we’ve scene a longer version? (Forget if it’s in part of the vault clips) You really get so much out of the trauma Victor faced in the orphanage when he lays upon the harsh realities of what actually happen contrary to how Cora believed her little boy was being well taken care of.
Members Paul Raven
Eric is far too savvy to be honest about some of the crap stories Victor has been given. To me he always comes over better as himself than his character.
Members Joseph
I feel you! EB has his flaws but they're nothing compared to Victor's!
Members Khan
What a marvelous scene to watch. So much history, so many mixed emotions. Cora grieving over her decision to do what she believed was right for her sons...and poor "Christian" being reduced to tears, as he's reliving what probably was the worst, most pivotal moment of his life. And it's long enough that EB and Dorothy McGuire are allowed to ACT and not just regurgitate plot. Thank you, @BoldRestless, for sharing.

Members AMCOLTLLover
It took me a while but I finally managed to get through May 2015 completely! I really love Adam-Justin Hartley. He was driving the show man! His chemistry with everyone on that show was insane! Shame Avery will be leaving soon and they broke up Dylan and Avery just like that. BUT the time they took with Sharon and Dylan as friends becoming more was awesome! But the story I was really into was Nikki battling her alcoholic addiction! I know, I know that Eric as Victor is the heart of the show and everyone loves him to pieces! BUT I think this whole godfather persona and villain is laughable. He ain’t that much of a good villain tbh. I know the audience loves Nikki and Victor so much but I do think she deserves better! Like for real! I even would’ve been fine if Nikki and Neil became a real thing. Their friendship is so precious! I know this ship has been gone and niktor will be forever together til they both leave this show. But I really would’ve loved for Nikki to get a men that treats her right. What this men drove her to would anyone to the bottle lol Jack and Nikki were always my secret favorite ship tbh! That Jack/Marco storyline is insane! Like seriously out there! Y&R never done those weird out there storylines like DAYS or GH but this one right here is so far out there and not like this show lol I mean we had that Adam storylines when he pretended to be Sabrina or the whole baby story with Sharon but Jack/Marco! But I do love Peter and I could tell that he had a blast with it. It’s weird that they even gave Marco some sort of personality and backround storyline. I don’t know if they were trying to make us like him or not lol The intervention episode of Nikki was one of the best episodes ! I really feel sorry for Nikki! one of the strongest character developments had Neil in 2015! I still don’t get that such honest men like Neil would actually be back working for Victor knowing what kind of a men he is lol I hate that this show is trying so hard to make Victor an anti hero

Members AMCOLTLLover
How popular is Devon with the audience ?
Members Paul Raven
Don't know how you could measure that. He's been around for years so there is the familiarity factor and he was introduced through Dru which gave him some cache. But there were years where he was hardly on and there wasn't a big outcry. Hooking up with Hilary seemed to work but that was more down to Mishael. Bryton might be the world's nicest guy and a competent actor, but Devon is dull. Making him Katherine's grandson and a billionaire did him no favors. Now marrying him off to Abby seems like they have given up. Especially with Nate,Damian and Holden getting more airtime. Members Khan
I agree. Getting married off to Abby is pretty much a sign that TPTB have reached a dead end with your character. Just ask Connor Floyd. Edited 52 minutes ago by Khan

Members Khan
This paragraph, in particular, sums up why Eric Braeden/Victor Newman remains Y&R's top attraction after all these years - and in turn, why Y&R itself continues to be #1: The actor will, though, share his thoughts on what makes his character so appealing to the audience. “Number one, he’s from the skids. He’s from absolute stark poverty. He’s an orphan. In that sense, he’s fulfilled the American dream,” Braeden explains. “Yet, what makes him human is the fact that he is obviously subject to emotional frailties and emotional interactions with women and other people. So, I think it’s the combination of the two. On the one hand, he fulfills a fantasy; on the other, he is human.” EB says that Victor Newman "fulfills a fantasy," and he certainly does. Victor appeals to the part of each of us that wishes we had all the money to do whatever we want and not give a [!@#$%^&*] what others think. This, BTW, also might explain how and why a certain someone has now been elected twice into the White House. Please register in order to view this content Thanks, @kalbir, for sharing that article! Members kalbir
You're welcome @Khan It was the combination of EB acting and Bill Bell writing that made Victor character arc a success. We saw Victor go from short-term villain to anti-hero/romantic leading man plus the backstory of his painful childhood (abandoned by both parents and growing up in an orphanage) and becoming a self-made man. EB really breaks down Victor's character in this interview.
