The iconic Newman Ranch set. This was after the redecoration by Cassandra, replacing the original green walls.

On occasion the room was extended forwards and we saw a dining table.

The replacement set was so bland and eventually dropped for the room we see now.

Word was the set was dropped because it was too old but it was only a couple of years older than the Abbott set which is still in use after 40plus years.

It's true, they didn't. The only 1980s wins were Beth Maitland Supporting Actress 1985 and Tracey Bregman Younger Actress 1985. Tracey was also nominated for Younger Actress in 1987. Terry Lester got four Lead Actor nominations (1984-1987) but the Lead Actor fields those years were tough. EB got one Lead Actor nomination (1987), JC got one Lead Actress nomination (1989), and Quinn Redeker got one Supporting Actor nomination (1989).

I can't believe EB didn't get nominated or win for the reunion with his mother and his orphanage backstory and Jeanne didn't get nominated or win for the facelift story, among many others.

It's definitely very obvious how much Eileen Davidson's absence Tailored this scene, as Ashley would be having more words with Dina, and not Traci IMO. 

I was hooked when originally watched that story!! how long Lisa kept brad in that cage? and whatever happened to her? was she caught? 

 

^^ Even looking at the camera work, the angles and positioning of the camera in helping to navigate the action shows the vast differences between the show back then versus what it would become several decades later. The differences are stark.
