Agree!  Also, she, like Susan Seaforth Hayes, has the ability to light up the screen with just her face.  All any director or camera person has to do is put the camera on her and the rest takes care of itself.

Her phrasing and performance abilities are perfect for the soap chanteuse format. That song was mostly the same guff which seemed to spin around in the late '70s and early '80s from one 30something easy listening songstress to another (the part about the Great Wall of China feels very "someone lost a bet"), but she makes it work. Fitting that she was crossing over with Patty Weaver, who did the same. (is it me or does Trish seem out of place with this period? Then again so does Abe...)

The Doug and Julie scenes were also worth the watch. I am sure some people might have found their double act annoying, but for me it works, and the mix of comedy and banter between them during all the high drama feels real. SSH also looks very chic here.

Indeed. She’s captivating. And soaps have trotted out tons of people, even actors who are also professional singers, to perform over the years, and it’s almost always embarrassing. GL is a cut above.

I love Diane Sommerfield as Val and wish the show had kept her kong-term!

Felt like the 1st time Val and Trish met...? They didn’t meet in the 70s?

Who is Evan sitting with?

Last question, can the soap gods please gift us with every episode from Pat Falken-Smith’s run?

To point one, agreed. I like how they kinda cast Vanessa Williams to more to resemble Diane Sommerfield than Tina Andrews. I see similarities in their mannerisms and voice.

To the second, no, there was a line Trish said to Liz about running into a friend. The tension is probably just from Trish being tense about David being on the run (he was presumed to be the Strangler at this point by the Salem PD, and was on the run for shooting Alex, I believe?)

Evan is sitting with Renee, it looks like.

I'd take even a few full episodes. These clips are KILLING me, I want MOOOORE. LOL!

It was "Something So Right," composed and originally sung by Paul Simon:

    • I loved today's episode....shocker LOL Dani & Andre were so cute and adorable. Vernon trying to cover his tracks with Anita, while holding his own with Leslie. And the pièce de résistance, Eva & Kat. Soooooo goood!!!
    • According to the newspaper columnists at the time of Mark Dante's return, Gerald Gordon had been a favorite of Fred Silverman, who left ABC for NBC and took Gordon with him. Silverman supposedly put him on a contract with NBC. Gordon return to "General Hospital" occurred after Silverman left NBC so Gordon may have been in need of work and he may have left Monty on good terms. His pairing seems very C-story at best based on synopses but maybe there was more to it.
    • I am truly at a loss for words about today's episode. I have no clue what they are trying to do or where this Luna story is going. I was literally dumbfounded.
    • I'm inclined to agree with you and I loved her at Santa Barbara.
    • I haven't watched DAYS in years, so I have some questions for anyone who can answer them. Is the show actually acknowledging that Jeremy abused Stephanie?  The things he did to her back in 2007 were reprehensible.  I wasn't watching too much when that was happening, but I seem to remember that the show (at the time) didn't outright label him an abusive partner and instead acted like he was just badly behaved or something like that.  Could someone who was watching back then tell me how they remember it?
    • It also strangely happened while the story was airing. You had a gothic and spooky story that because it got eyeballs ended up being dragged out and turned into camp. Marlena starts talking to herself constantly with that voice, she’s strapped to the bed for a never ending exorcism, would almost die multiple times during the process, and then everyone would just leave her there with Caroline Brady sitting next to her holding a rosary. Reilly had the show so segregated that when Carrie found out what was happening in practically her next scene she was like I’m praying for Marlena. Now what are we going to do about Sami? I don’t know about anyone else, but I would probably stop my storyline for at least a couple of episodes and have to go see my stepmother that had a huge part in raising me floating around with those eyes in her beautiful penthouse. It was just so stupid, and when it started I didn’t necessarily agree with the story being told, but at least it was taken seriously.
    • Yes, I feel the same way. I get the reasoning behind hiring him. He was playing a very similar character on RH, and they were in a pinch. I also found his accent very distracting. But then, Bev also didn't sound like she was from Illinois, and it didn't bother me a bit. That said, I've always had a great deal of sympathy for the situation he was in. It's never easy to take over from someone popular with fans, and how the TPTB were always insisting he was coming back eventually was another issue. Hearing he was going through it in his personal life on top of that makes me even more sympathetic. I found the article where it mentioned he had worked on both soaps at the same time. This was written a while after he left the show. Interesting that he was open to returning and that fans were asking him about when Alan was going to get out of jail. To this day, I don't understand why they kept Alan off the canvas as long as they did. He should have been there in the thick of Roger's return (without the dumb attempt to kill him), especially while he was married to Alex. To me, Raines was lacking in a lot of qualities needed for Alan. I think he would have been a better Mike Bauer.  They took five years to bring Alan back. They could have found someone better. No one is irreplaceable. Anyone who took over the role would have been different from Bernau. But somewhere out there was an actor who would have had the suaveness, intensity, and charm that IMO the character needed.

    • I did feel like JFP's Y&R was decent. Of all the recent HW/EP swaps, her period was very safe but watchable. Nothing spectacular but better than what we have now.
