She's had 15 years of loss: the end of her marriage, ATWT's cancellation (she worked there for 32 years!), the death of her son. And getting older sucks, especially for a beautiful woman. You suddenly

@MarlandFan I was wondering if you knew whether this was already around. It's listed as January 18, 1991, which I couldn't immediately find on Youtube, but I'm not sure the date is right as I have vague memories of some of the John and Lucinda stuff.

The episode starts at around 13-15 minutes.

The date is mislabeled. The video you have linked above is from Wednesday, January 16. It's a visually superior copy to the one that I have currently up on Youtube, but mine is complete (without the newsbreak in the middle of the mislabeled version):

Thank you for taking the time to check. I thought it may have been one you had up.

Your copy looks amazing. I wish they all had that same clarity and richness of color.

ACTRESS TAMARA TUNIE BOUQUETT'S WORLD IS STILL TURNING

Like her character, the ambitious Jessica Griffin on CBS-TVs "As The World Turns," actress Tamara Tunie Bouquett wants it all! The charismatic and endearing actress/ singer and dancer, the woman who "brought a tear" to the eye of renowned dance master, Paul Drape, the woman critics have deemed a "gifted performer," "vibrant," "a delicate beauty," will indeed have it all. Born and raised in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Tamara, whose character hails from the South Bronx, said in a recent interview, "I always wanted to be a performer." Her determination, coupled with her talent for theatre, was apparent even at an early age. She and her talented cousin staged entire revues in the family garage for her parents, her brother and three sisters and neighborhood fans.

Following the Tunie "off-off-offoff Broadway" shows, Tamara won her first official starring role in her third grade school production of "Rumptestilskin."Realizing that the limelight appealed to her, Tamara continued dancing and singing in high school. Winning the respect of Paul Draper (the theatrical coach in residence) with her self-choreographed dance piece, Tamara was accepted at Carnegie Mellon. In her four years of study, she did it all-the classics, musicals, drama and comedy. When Tamara graduated with a bachelor of fine arts in musical theatre, she instinctively felt she was ready to tackle Broadway.

Tamara loaded up a rented automobile and headed to New York. She arrived at the apartment of a college friend, eager to take her first bite of the "Big Apple." Two days later, Tamara and her friends decided to "crash" an audition for a European tour of "West Side Story." In the middle of a ballet combination, she noticed that her comrades were leaving, but the persevering Tamara remained and executed the routines so well that she was called back the next day for further scrutiny. Eventually, she was offered a part in the chorus and asked to understudy the part of Anita. But, Tamara did not want to go to Europe. She knew she had arrived, she knew she could do this New York thing.

The transition from theatre to the television camera was easy for Tamara. After playing a woman running a witchcraft store on "Spencer For Hire" and several small parts on "the soaps," Tamara signed a three year contract with CBS-TV to play the part of Jessica Griffin on "As The World Turns." Like Tamara, the character she portrays is a multi-faceted woman of the 80s-ambitious yet vulnerable, exuding not only charm and sophistication, but a mature sensitivity, a unique role model for young woman the nation over.

I think I read somewhere that Douglas Marland was never afraid to write around actors' outside work (in films, theatre, primetime tv, etc.)? As a former actor, he understood, I think, how much actors needed outside opportunities to continue nourishing their talents.

Meanwhile, former actress Gail Kobe seemed close to putting a hit out on actors who did the same.

I remember a few actors on ATWT referred to him as an "actors' writer" and yeah, I think acting, performing onstage and even taking acting classes gives a writer a more intimate sense of the perspective on the other side of the script.

While the Dobsons were certainly missed on GL in '80-'81, they did a superb job, on balance, of reinvigorating ATWT in my estimation. Pairing Dr. John Dixon with Dee Stewart was a masterstroke that reheated the Stewart/Dixon conflict and yielded Emmy nominations for actors L. Bryggman and H. Forsythe. Tying Dixon to Bob's new love interest, Lyla, further cemented Dixon's reach as a story catalyst. James Stenbeck, while more cartoonish than GL's Alan, added an upscale Euro dimension and provided years of intrigue. Nick brought an earthy, ethnic touch to produce a somewhat different brand of suitor for Kim. Killing off Jay Stallings, albeit rather awkwardly in a mining accident offscreen, opened new story avenues for Carol. The '80 weak link, in my view, was the Brad Hollister character, whose land deals, silver mining business, nebulous ties to Stenbeck, and roving eye seemed forced and out of synch with Oakdale's texture.
