Does anybody remember?

I'm currently watching the episodes which feature the "end" of Tonio Reyes. There are a few gaps in the episodes but, just going by the episodes, it looks like Duncan killed Tonio. However, when I was reading an online synopsis, it stated that Tonio escaped is apparently still alive. Does anybody know what really happened to Tonio?

He was fleeing from Duncan. He lost his grip on the rope ladder and fell into the ocean. Everyone thought he drowned and died. Later in 1994 he reappeared in Montage kidnapping Susan and Bob and demanded they operate on  him after being shot. Susan and Bob first refused but later operated on Tonio. It was to no avail as he died on the operating table.

Thank you for that, soapsuds. However, he didn't die on the operating table. I watched the episodes around this time so I'm sure of that. He survived the operation (Bob and Susan later grappled with having saved his life after he'd cause so much suffering). He came back to get Sabrina after Bob and Susan left Montega. Duncan was still there in Montega. He kidnapped Sabrina and Duncan followed after them. Tonio shot Duncan and then, at the end of the episode, Tonio was leaving and Duncan reached up and grabbed him. The episode ends there and the following few episodes are missing. Later, Duncan talks about killing Tonio. However, the synopsis I read said that Tonio survived and told Sabrina he'd be back one day and they don't have his status as "deceased". So I'm a bit confused. Did he really die or did Duncan think he killed him but he really survived?

I thought Claire Beckham was gone before 1994? I just remember the new HWs bringing back a lot of fan favorites at that time. It's unfortunate the stories weren't there or were rehash of what Marland had already done.

I thought it would've been great had Tonio been Bianca bio dad.

How would that work out chronologically though? Tonio would have had to have been a young teenager, like how Iva was only thirteen when she became pregnant with Lily.

I mentioned Gabriel and Tonio because it would've provided an easy out to what I thought was a dumb storyline: making him Craig's. It also could have been a way to bring Bryant back with the discovery that Bryant was actually kidnapped and the "accident" staged, out of revenge for finding out that Gabriel's mother, before she passed away, convinced Sierra to protect Gabriel from ever finding out who his biological father was and Sierra, in turn, convincing Craig to go along with the ruse. Tonio finds out, summons his connections in the underground and criminal networks (with a helping hand from James Stenbeck, who still owed Tonio a favor) to take a son, to replace the son who was taken from him.

    • It definitely flowed beautifully. So much that I was annoyed when Vanessa/Doug because I wanted to get back to the party. I know it was intentional to build up tension and suspense. It worked. lol. I'm glad it was there in hingsight because it gave us that great conversation between Doug and Vanessa. Foreshadowing? And yesss!!! This episode was sooo old school soap giving beat after beat after beat leading up to the unveiling of Eva as Ted's daughter. And we still have plenty of fallout/aftereffects to work through.   Speaking of...Bill, Bill, Bill lol. Good to have confirmation HE was the scary lawyer.   I'm sure I will have a busy Monday, but I can't wait for it. I don't know what I'm looking forward to more. Probably Anita vs Silk Press Sheila tbh. And yes, I feel they will be matching each other 'blow for blow.'
    • And if they go there, it could also be tied to Johnny completely cutting him off, possibly going to work for Titan, etc.
    • @AbcNbc247 maybe it is just that they've gone to that well too often, and I don't like when DAYS goes dark, but I'm OK with EJ abusing drugs, and just skipping the whole sobriety part. Side note: experiencing hallucinations of my son killing me would be enough for me to never want to take a pill again.

    • Part of the reason that Courtney worked at OLTL was because the show had an actual character for her to play.  One that was somewhat different than her character on AW, and after the way she was treated over at AW.. it had to have been nice to be courted onto a new soap that actually valued your contributions.
    • I figured the "long" was already implied

    • The show has finally figured out the correct scene to have at the end of the episode. The one thing I loved about the show today was that we got a pretty decent length scene of Silk Press Sheila at the celebration without any cutaways.  It reminded me of an old school soap opera scene that would run several moments (i.e. Renee's long speech going after the upstanding citizens of Salem on Days in 1983 before her murder).   I think Anita and Silk Press Sheila would be evenly matched.. she would be the one person that Anita would have to work to get the best of.    I do agree that Derek/Ashley were probably cut from the episode.. and maybe their scenes will be used in a different episode.  The scenes that were included (Bill/Hayley and Vanessa/Doug) had something to do with the scenes going on at the party.    Unpopular opinion:  I actually prefer Bill with Hayley.. .they make a good couple.
