That first one really gets to me. Scott Bryce was such a beautiful crier (no wonder Marland went to town on Craig tears) and such a beautiful man. He always knew how to bring out the vulnerability in  Craig. And he and HBS worked so well together, like a real brother and sister.

Never knew Kim and Ariel took turns writing a newspaper column. It's great see more of Ariel. The Dr.Z/Cassandra North stuff amounts to filler .Ariel was to fabulous for that. The family scenes with John, Karen, Dusty and Andy were sweet and cute. Betsy Von Furstenberg looked some much like Eileen Fulton. I thought it was Eileen.

I never knew what Ariel did after she split with John. I wish they'd kept her around (unless it was Judith Blazer's decision to leave) - there's something very special about her. Instead they just pretended she never existed.

It's been so long since any new early '80s material popped up and now we get various episodes in the space of a week. A pleasant surprise. I'm glad it's 1984 instead of pornstache Brad and all the low energy 80-82 material.

The house that Kim is in is the same house she and Bob lived in during the Marland era and beyond.  But it had a little remodeling after their marriage.  I believe the foyer and staircase were enlarged and a fireplace was added to the living room -- I think the fireplace replaced a large white tile stove.  Years ago some posters were convinced Kim and Bob had moved into Chris and Nancy's old house.  Nice to know for sure, they moved into Kim's existing house.  Finally some evidence of that.

Yes, that was the house she lived in with Nick, which was kind of weird..but they totally remolded the house and this being Marland, he wrote that in.

Was this after Whit was killed. Lisa is kind of cold to poor Jay who had his mother be revealed to be a murderer.  I keep imaging how Fulton would play these scene.

God crying Craig! I know there was a market for it but he was such a wuss crying all the time....

I agree with all of this. And facing the possibility of going to prison for life is legit something to cry about. If American Psycho had been written and adapted into a film the early 80s, Bryce would've been perfect for that Christian Bale role,

Am I the only one who is curious about what happened to the child actor who played Andy in this episode? Macaulay Culkin is doing all of these podcasts about all these random topics but what he needs to be doing is hosting a show looking for what happened to these various child actors, from the well known to the obscure. Kind of like a Comedians In Cars Getting Coffee type of series but with former child stars.

Your right...I remember the promos..."Lisa's back and she is in the middle of MURDER!" with Eileen's dramatic close up of disovering Whit dead...(though how she could tell the difference...)I didn't think of that until later. Weren't they going to kill Lisa instead of Whit and that is why Fulton came back???  (or so she says...) Why would you kill Lisa and keep the boring Toupe with Dentures as we used to call him  on?

Christine Lakin (Al, Step By Step) and Alaa Khaled ( DJ Khaled's brother) Co-host a podcast called Worst Ever Podcast. Where they have interviewed several former child stars including Staci Keanan, Nicholle Tom, and several members of The Mickey Mouse Club that aired on Disney Channel.

Interesting but I was thinking more along the lines of a TV/streaming show, not a podcast. Something like Comedians In Cars Getting Coffee maybe even go to other parts of the world and talk to former child stars there.  I remember Netflix had a documentary on a group of South America's most famous child stars who were in a music group and searched to find out out what happened to them.

I mentioned Culkin because of his status of one of the world's most famous child stars at one time and the fact that, from an interview with him that I recently read, he's obviously still processing what that all meant.  JMO but it could be fascinating to see him connect and interview others who were once in a similar position.

I stumbled on something interesting while I was doing some research for the episode list. The contents of the Bridget & Jerome Dobson Papers, a collection held in Wisconsinhttp://digicoll.library.wisc.edu/cgi/f/findaid/findaid-idx?c=wiarchives;cc=wiarchives;q1=as the world turns;rgn=main;view=text;didno=uw-whs-mss01082

The whole page looks like a wealth of information, but I was particularly interested at some of the character names included. April Montgomery? I wonder if this list includes characters that were created, but ultimateley never used. At least I have never heard of the name April Montgomery before. I guess she could have been Bart's sister or his new wife?

These are the characters I have never heard of before. Does anyone have any info on any of these? Did they actually appear on the show?

Garth Basnum

Barney Hollister (Brad and Eric's father? I believe their other brother was named Stan?)

Jace Hutchinson

April Montgomery

Skye Sullivan (Cody's mother? sister?)

I'd be curious as to what (if any) story projections they had written for OLTL and SOMERSET.  They're listed among the Dobsons' papers; however, I don't recall their ever having written for either show.

I just finished listening and that was so funny that Lucy Deakins got the part over her for two roles!  Byrne also auditioned for The Boy Who Could Fly from what I heard in the podcast.

Interesting how she said that Marland originally wanted Holden and Emily to be the "it" couple before seeing Martha and Jon interact in story.  She confirmed what I always suspected with Marland that he placed characters/actors in positions and made decisions based on how they interacted with one another.  You can literally see this happening with the case of Frannie and Casey and Lyla scenes. I'd love to hear podcasts with other former actors from the show to get their take on whether they believed their characters were going in one direction and then started to turn in another direction when it came to a pairing.

That stuff about Shannon briefly being considered for Lily's mother is kind of wild but from what I remember, Shannon was pretty thick with Dusty and Lily and had some brief intrigue with Lucinda but ended being a red herring in the mystery of who was responsible for the mysterious phone calls to Lucinda.

I am now more curious than ever as to what specifically happened that made Bryne feel as if the situation at ATWT was so untenable that she gave them the deuces once and for all. It really sounds bad.

I think Goutman was just an egotistical [!@#$%^&*]. I mean putting out a casting call when you are still talking contract with the OG, who spent 20 years in the role is just  DB move by CG and probably why CG balked at Noelle Beck's suggestion that Martha return to finish ATWT but CG refused

    • The bit with the scarf reminds me of the fabled stuffed animal scene with Rick and Phillip. (That wasn't debunked, was it?)
    • Ohh, interesting. I instantly gravitated towards her in that episode. Of course I'm already hooked and want to know why she was trying to poison that older lady, but then how did the older lady know to switch the mugs so Susan drank her own poison...  but I have too many timelines I'm watching right now haha.  Oh, Bolger is definitely hot. I didn't realize he was on GL haha. I knew him from OLTL and other primetime stuff.
    • This is a effin shame. Eff Trump and eff the bastards that enable him.
    • I 100% agree but I think this is due to how the show is structured. It's a one family show which means there are no people in her age range that could be used as friends or contemporaries of her. The show definitely needs a second main family. I am glad someone finally said this. Especially now that the cast is gelling in their roles, he stands out like a sore thumb. No energy, no chemistry with anybody. He is just there.  I thought that was odd as well! The previous scene would've worked better as a tag for the credits.
    • That's the one and only Carrie Nye (Mrs. Dick Cavett) as Susan Piper, a deadly realtor. I don't want to spoil a lot if you ever want to see those episodes. She returns as another character in 2003. I think Grant has aged well and he always did a good job at being ripped without going too far, but he was never entirely my cup of tea either. I did think John Bolger was hot.
    • Totally agree. KKL looks great! It makes the Widge groveling so bizarre. Brooke needs to leave FC and with $B's/Liam's funding launch a rival fashion house with Hope, Rick, Katie and a secret designer. The best scenario is that Rick has been absent because he's been with very much alive C2, who is revealed on the runway as the secret designer. It'll never happen because B&B is comfortable just focusing on FC and the Forresters Marones v. Logans. But it'd been so much more interesting if the Spencers/Logans united.

    • Haha that scarf thing did go on a bit too long, very odd. And what a young Rick!  I know this is an unpopular opinion, but I just never got the physical appeal of Grant Aleksander, but he's definitely a great actor. Who is the older lady around the 8:30 mark, and also ends the episode, alone and in pain? She seems like a really interesting character. I love the smoky voice and sultry, snaky vibe she seems to have.
    • I can't remember exactly but I think she lives in or is part of the cottage story with Carrie. Carrie poisons her in this episode.  I forgot Teresa was on the show. (I see that AI is insisting she wasn't - well they're wrong) Poor Maeve. I can how even she had her limits.
    • It pisses me off that the other Duprees are making this incident all about them as well. They are playing a family of victims, acting as if Ted cheated on all of them. They should be supportive, but not like this. I have a family that makes anything that happens to me personally all about them, and seeing the same thing on TV is rage-inducing.
