Given that Vincent has carried a lot of the show since his return and is a focal point of so many stories it's odd they would play hardball. I'm not sure what else they would have lined up, unless Rylee are suddenly threatened by Ryan's evil doppleganger Bryan.

The thing for me is why would they go through all of the trouble of having David find about Greenlee's betrayal if he was just gonna die right afterward? And who originated the "puppeteer" terminology to describe post-death!David's activities? Unless he committed suicide after leaving evidence to set it up like a murder, I don't see how he'll be puppeteering anything.

Maybe puppeteer was the wrong word for it, but if VI is really out, my guess is David must have a safe deposit box full of evidence against the residents of Pine Valley. We know he's set up Greenlee for Erica's plane crash and he figured out that the Hubbards & Madison were covering up Henry's death. Maybe he's going to have Liza release a bunch of this stuff during the inevitable murder trial?

There's really no question in my mind that this is pretty close to accurate. They're reporting he's out, then he reports he's in negotiations. They find out he's said he's in negotiations and have him backtrack and then repeat that he's out ... to keep face for their "David's [really!!!] dead" story.

In translation...

"We are sorry to lose Vincent due to his time off until January 2011, but we couldn't resist this amazing story and ratings stunt. We'd like to thank Digest, Weekly, and In Depth for their participation in our fantastic trick. Expect many unexpected twists and plot developments - the pinnacle of them being David revealing he faked his death early next year seconds following somebody's execution [or wedding]!"

I have no inside information about this - so please don't go reporting any of the above as fact (for ex: "I just read he's returning in January!") - but I'm quite positive this will be proven accurate by around February 2011.

Yeah, but no one (and I include the people who are offline) buys into this stunt. This is the price that soaps pay for years of refusing to kill off major characters and let stay dead. Good news for AMC is probably save some dough until VI returns.

I can't tell you how much I wish you were right but one look at the AMC Facebook page will show you that LOTS of people are buying into this stunt. Not everybody, not by a long shot but easily 50-70%. OTOH, when this turns out to be a hoax/stunt I may very well file a complaint with the FCC just to remind ABC that they don't operate in a vacuum.

    • The writers need to stop writing Nick/Sharon as forever young and beautiful star-crossed lovers and write them as the middle aged adults with grown children that they are.
    • Yes. He was asleep in the living room, over in the chair that is sideways to the room, but faces it & he had one of his bad dreams in the exact same way as always & as always it woke him up. Is that a thing? Are there bad dreams that for some reason always wake you?
    • Just happy to see the Pointer Sisters getting their flowers again, thanks to GTA 6.

    • Yeah, I was fickle. I abandoned baby watch & just tried to think of really well matched pairings. Yeah, they sent Carter & Thomasina away far too soon for my way of looking at things.  I REALLY liked them & they were rare being both young & African Americans.
    • My watching in that time period was sketchy.  After high school, I didn't have a TV.  I would watch in the dormitory common room  my first year away from home, but then after that I lived in a rental with housemates who didn't want TV.  I think I caught up on the soaps during school(univ) vacations, when visiting my sister's house.  And then many many years later on soapnet?  Not sure. I had no idea that Jeff ever tried suicide. Reading just now is the first I ever heard of that. Interesting. I will agree that Monica wanted Jeff out of the way so she could be with Rick, but she would have wanted him gone emotionally.  But I don't remember watching Jeff having any medical issues, so I don't know if she would have wanted him dead.
    • Didn't he have a nightmare last week?
    • Nothing about Joss ever works. I can't blame them for trying a completely fresh approach for her, but she needs to be written out.
    • Thanks @Paul Raven  Some of this sounds strong but it's all so heavy and some elements, like with Felicia and Charles, almost veer on parody. L&L seemed to always be a heavy show - did they ever even have comic relief moments? - but I do wonder if it all became too much for viewers.
    • It's a joke. If there's a way to put Joss into a WSB spy story that works, I haven't seen it. What they're doing is just ridiculous. Imagine trusting a huge operation to someone who "finished training" a month ago. I think they're trying to make this work by having a college-age agent be a part of the professor's class, etc. It might look acceptable on paper, but it doesn't work when you see it.
    • Monday, after the party, Leslie showed up at the Duprees. Martin was with everyone as they listened to her for a bit. Then Martin said he was needed at home.  Anita and Vernon knew he was upset and they were concerned. Vernon asked "Do you need Titus, or are you okay to drive?"  Martin said he was okay and left to drive himself home. Either Titus is a chauffeur or just some helpful all-around employee.
