ALL: They Almost Became

Her name was Maggie Vega. I never liked that cop - they opted to go with the chemistry between Bob Krimmer and Laura Bonariggo instead. I also seem to recall that was a proto-"Antonio Vega" in the works around that time who never surfaced. Not the same character outline, IIRC.

Thanks. I just sent you a PM with the same message - eerie.

I mostly remember her hair. That's about it. Between Laura and the chemistry he had with Jessica Tuck she really would have needed to be better than whoever they did end up casting, who was very Lifetime host.

Somewhat ancillary to the original topic, but: According to William Shatner's new documentary Chaos on the Bridge (now on Netflix), about the tumultuous early seasons of Star Trek: The Next Generation, Roy Thinnes (Phil Brewer, GH; Sloan Carpenter /Alex Crown, OLTL) was one of the top 3 original choices for Captain Picard, along with Yaphet Kotto and Mitchell Ryan. Then Patrick Stewart blew them all away.

In this video, Robin Christopher claims she tested for every soap in NYC, some of them twice and was almost cast as Gabrielle on OLTL. She says it was that audition that lead AMC to cast her as Skye,

Was it not heavily rumoured when GH was recasting Carly when Tamara Braun left that Sarah Buxton and Galen Gering's wife Jenna were the front runners to secure the role? The casting of Jennifer Bransford was very surprising after these two names were banded about but I have to wonder if they knew all along that Laura Wright would be leaving GL in the coming months and wanted a placeholder Carly who maybe wouldn't be as well received to make the transition to Wright more welcomed by fans.

There were suspicions about that at the time. But I think JFP was 100% behind Bransford (a hire of hers at OLTL) and pushed it, and tried to put it over. Sarah Buxton was also far too weak an actress.

How often has that happened? A bland to bad recast that essential acts as a placeholder until someone better/someone the studio wants more comes along?

I'm pretty sure that happened with Charity Rahmer as Belle and recently with Old Man Burgess as Billy (even though he had the role for like two years) on Y&R.

    • I dont understand the motivation behind it. Eva is her link to Ted and the Duprees and without her, she has nothing. It would have served better for Eva to be all fed up with her and leave the house on her own and Leslie try to make amends bc she needs her for this comeup she's been talking about. Eva can repair her relationship with Ted and maybe build something with the Duprees and cut her out
    • So good today Dante is overreacting blaming gio Hopefully Danny will come clean
    • Not mad at Leslie Locking Eva out, I think it's important for the audience to see her on her own for a while. Curious how scrappy and savvy she becomes on her own. Yeah, I am with you there. It feels a bit hollow; maybe if she was talking to Martin and Kat I would feel better about it. There must be more to this story. Daphnee and Ambyr owned this episode. Tugging my heart in every scene. Nicole process hurt and anger much differently than Dani though.
    • I also really enjoyed Eva's scenes with Kat today. They have an interesting chemistry. I thought it really did feel a bit like sisters at conflict. Especially with the way that Eva was trying to convince Kat to forgive Ted and them both coming to the conclusion that the man they thought was their father was different wasn't who they really thought he was initially. And the way that Eva broke down when Kat said that she was dead to her was emotional stuff. I really do think that in spite of their conflict/bickering Eva really would have loved to have gained a sister, along with a brother, father, etc... Also, I thought it was interesting how Eva kept saying that she loves Ted and Nicole. That and Leslie mentioning that Kat/Eva are almost twins really does make me wonder if Kat may really be her twin and Nicole's as well. I would gladly welcome that outcome, even if it takes a while for it to come out. At this point Leslie doesn't deserve Eva as a daughter as far as I'm concerned. And I would forward to a storyline where we found out that she's Nicole's second baby girl, and all the complex and ultimately happy feelings that would bring Nicole. Eva/Kat could still have a rivalry, especially if Nicole ended up doing some more bonding with Eva. And then we could get the rest of the family's reaction to that as well.

What you NOT gonna do to me!
    • Bravo to every single person responsible for today's episode. From the writer on down to Kraft services. Yall I'm getting emotional but I wish my granny was here to have seen this soap since she was the one to introduce me to this medium.

    • Everything is fraught with confusion. Why is Leslie pleading with the Duprees to accept Eva? She's not biological family so what is this? She's the product of an affair with their in-law so Leslie wants them to accept her? I'm getting GOOD TIMES vibes of Leslie and Eva minus the physical abuse.
    • Big fan of today's writing. In particular, I like EJ complexity, crying over Johnny and conspiring at the same is tough to pull off in the same episode, but it goes very far in explaining EJ's motives. I don't hate the idea of Cat and EJ, and I especially appreciate everyone trying to warn her, but she is sticking to the plan. Boy oh boy, when Brandon Beemer wears a shirt that matches his eyes, I get lost in the screen!
