Its been years since all the soaps were good at the same time. The style in the writing has changed for a number of them going back to the glory years writing especially AMC which looks like a completely different show than the one we've been seeing the past 4 years. AMC hasn't been this good in quite a while.

GH has finally gotten its act together these past couple of months. Thank god for Dante right? LOL!

Even Y&R which has been mad awful lately is lowly getting back in shape.

DAYS and OLTL still keeping up the quality.

ATWT was awesome last week yet it won't be around anymore.

I know most of the soaps will go down this week but if they barely drop that will be a real good sign for them. Most of these soaps are up year to year. I consider 2006-09 to be the worst years for the soaps and if you look at some of these soaps ratings compared to 2005 they are a little close especially DAYS. Yep this genre aint going nowhere it just had a rebirth.

Now that my love affair with OLTL is over I could care less how it does in the ratings. I am really hoping AMC and GH rise though. I have really been enjoying them. B&B has been God awful so Days deserves 2nd place. Y&R on the other hand has been all over the place for me. I don't know what to seriously think about the show anymore.

Next week's ratings will certainly take a hit, depending on how many markets are covering regional NCAA playoffs. The ABC affiliate here is pre-empting the ABC soaps for all day coverage of the SEC Tournament(which are, technically, syndicated by ESPN). I hope the blackouts are more widespread(meaning an NBC or CBS affiliate has the rights in other areas) and that it is not JUST an ABC thing. That could drive the ratings of the shows down.

The National Playoffs YES. The Regional Playoffs(SEC, Big 12, etc.) are all syndicated and vary by which local affiliate gets the rights to the games. There maybe a CBS or NBC affiliate in the country that owns the rights to these Regional playoffs or games, syndicated by ESPN. But I know for a fact both ABC affiliates in Fort Smith/Fayetteville and Little Rock carry SEC Network.

Two things:

1. Toups: Do you have the viewer season-to-date numbers -- those that include Live + 7day -- it would be interesting to see how much of a lift the soaps get from later viewing. I don't always watch same day. Clearly DAYS benefits -- if it's season average is 3.3 million, it's getting a nice bump.

2. Several CBS stations in the south usually preempt for ACC Tourney. For example in Raleigh, Y&R is being show at 2:30 am tomorrow and Saturday. In Charlotte, they are completely preempted both days.
