I hate to put a damper on this but isn't Lorraine teaching screenwriting these days? Nor has she done a soap since she was a breakdown writer at GL in 2004.

Never in a million years would I have imagined the events of the last few days for AMC.

I know. I find myself getting hopeful in spite of myself.

Don't get too excited. I hear this is just temporary until they find a replacement for Pratt.

I don't understand the point of hiring a high profile transition writer, and paying someone to do this, when they can use staff writers to write the trasition period.

I think Broderick will be here for a while and will be under contract for a while.

Temporary can always become permanent. I think she might have to prove she can turn AMC around

I expect they lured her with a fleet of golden ships carrying golden buckets full of gold. I don't expect Broderick to be a cheap writer. Her whole interim period might be more expensive than another writer's two years.

I think all of us are feeling that. I had truly lost all hope, I am grateful something has happened to bring a little hope back to me as far as All My Children is concerned. Let us hope this turns out as well as it can.

Well, damn. This is very good news for AMC, but I must wonder what her working relationship with JHC will be like.

If they don't get on, I imagine JHC will just tell herself that Lorraine Broderick does not exist. It's just one of those silly made up things.

I'm generally a JHC defender but

As far as I'm concerned, that doesn't put a damper on anything at all. B)

Yeah.

Teaching screenwriting is bad?

I think what Dan meant was she may no longer be interested in a long term soap job.

Sorry, I forgot to add my point lol. The fact is that, other than Daytime Confidential, we have no confirmation that this news is accurate. That Lorraine is currently in another line of work and because of which is possibly unavailable to AMC might put a damper on the news. Not unless she has decided to stop teaching after the semester break... Or perhaps has only agreed to serve as a temporary writer until the next semester.

Plus you have to ask what talented writer who values their sanity would willingly work for Frons long-term.
