I know that this topic has come up before, but I thought it might be fun for posters to contribute to get a definitive list.We can include nightime and syndicated soaps also.

We can add extra info if we have it.

To get the ball rolling:

Flamingo Road-NBC 1982

Proposed daytime spinoff of the cancelled primetime soap.It was stated that some members of the nightime show would continue their roles, but actual names not specified.

House of Hope-NBC 1970.

Spinoff of The Doctors, focussing on the characters of Steve and Carolee.

Scruples-NBC 1983

Based on the successful book/mini series by Judith Krantz.Starring Susan Flannery, written by Pat Falken Smith, produced by Doris Quinlan.

A lot of these I remember from Waggett's "Soap Opera Book of Lists"...

HEART AND SOUL

Claire Labine's proposed replacement for THE CITY, beat out by PORT CHARLES

CELEBRATION

Earlier from Labine (bellcurve just mentioned this in the Paul Rauch interview thread), her proposed replacement for CAPITOL

GROSSE POINTE

Paul Rauch's idea for a CAPITOL replacement

CASINO

A John Conboy glamour soap set in Las Vegas

COMING OF AGE

A Melrose Place/The City/"family of friends"-like serial for NBC from the Bells

APARTMENT 3-G

Actually, the creators of this one don't even know that it's been turned down yet as it's still "Later that same day..."

I remember a proposed spin-off of GH called "General Hospital West" in the early 80s that would find some of the GH doctors in an LA hospital. I also vaguely remember Megan McTavish discussing a bible for a new soap that she'd written in an interview. OK, it's coming back to me...I think the tentative title was "Greed." And although it's a prime time soap, Knots Landing was supposed to do a summer spin-off of the younger cast members, but it never happened.

Days has had many spin off talks. As said above Pacific Lives and Manhattan Lives. They also had talks of a Salem High spinoff, a few actually. One was to be on Sat Mornings in the style of saved by the bell pretty much and i think Passions has going to get one too. Another had the teenagers and jack and jen working at the paper or something like that. Then there was the talks of keeping the dead dead from the killer storyline and having them live on that damn island. I think there was some talk of Doug & Julie getting a spinoff too.

Days also proposed a comedy spin off 'Calliope' based around Arlene Sorkin's character.

The GH spinoff was always referred to as 'Young Loves of General Hospital' .

In an interview.Jackie Smith, then head of NBC daytime referred to 'Best of Friends' as being in development as a late morning soap, more light-hearted along the lines of Australia's 'Neighbours'.

Steve Frame had a great list on his SoapsWeb site.

One I remember was 'Loyalties' starring movie/TV star Robert Cummings. This was around 1970.Following in the footsteps of Macdonald Carey on DOOL.Dana Andrews on Bright Promise and Joan Bennett on Dark Shadows by casting a Hollywood 'star'.

I've never heard of CASINO before but I've always wondered why no one ever tried making a serialized drama with Las Vegas as the setting. There are so many different elements for storylines using glamourous Las Vegas as the setting. Everything from the glitz and glamour to the crime and corruption of the city.

What a shame it is that all of these proposed soaps never got the green light. I personally believe that if they had, ratings today would have been much different as there would have been a serious influx of new dramas and new viewers.

    • Sheila in that Bill/Liam scene was utterly pointless and ruined the moment completely. Bell needs to cut his losses with KB, he clearly has NO idea what to do with Sheila    LMFAO
    • I liked that realism, too.  (DanaLeslie/Lulu/whoever  is still shifty enough to have paid someone to learn those details over the years, though)

date: Monday, May 12 | Sara A. Bibel, Jazmen Darnell Brown | Anthony Pascarelli Teddy Boy. Teddy Bear. DEADBEAT! Now we know where Deadbeat gets it from. Vanessa in a random two-second spotting with Deadbeat? Oh, okay then! Dana is selling herself to Nicole right now. Oh, look who it is... Anita showing up to support Dani in her demure confrontation with Deadbeat2. Mona is not playing with Eva; from "backstabbing heifer" to "girl bye", she is not playing with her. At all. Joey is fully playing Vanessa, and she's so easily falling for it. C'mon, honey, don't do that. Shanice is going to be a comfort board for Douglas when he takes her advice and helps him heal himself. Mona going off on Dana just like she deserves. Mama Dupree went off: "Handle your business!" Could Eva and Randy be potentially paired for a one-night stand? That could be an interesting twist. Damn Mona with the continued burns, this time for Dana: "Hell was made for people like you, Leslie. Enjoy the burn." Anita questioning her own decisions and instincts feels really natural and real. It's a nice change of pace from the other matriarchs we've seen established in American daytime. Now the true Dana/Ted scenes are coming out. Anita warning Eva that she'll never be a part of the Dupree family shows the claws are fully out. Teddy fully calling Dana "demented" and "psychotic" is going to cause some problems, won't it? Notes: I fully need Maurice Johnson (Ted) gone yesterday; his performances are just not selling to me. Love seeing Tamara Tunie (Anita) beginning to get her teeth into the meat of the scripts. It's about time. Karan Kendrick (Mona) delivered today!!! She's such a breath of fresh air.
    • Oh yeah Leslie is Sheila Carter levels of delulu    Damnit, Ambyr Michell you gutted me with that quivering lip
    • Damn, Anita doesn't play, that was pretty vicious.  I hope Eva gets her redemption.

I doubted the tests but i liked that htey had Nicole as a doctor mention that the test also had genetic markers that matched Teds that Leslie really wouldnt have been able to fake. I think most people thought the test only said 99.999% chance match but its more detailed than that
    • I love Jon Lindstrom on GH...  but I don't enjoy him as Joey, at all.  Joey is a dud character.   And I don't feel any Joey/Vanessa heat at all.  I can see that the actors are trying to show it but it doesn't come off as believable to me. And it's obvious that Joey is using Vanessa and doesn't care a bit about her.

    • I disagree, Jon Lindstrom is boring as hell on this show and the Joey character is not clicking.  When Anita went on and on about how she landed the ideal man in Vernon and what a saint he is - I just hoped that Vernon knocked a few other women up somewhere.
    • Jon Lindstrom has the same type of smoking hot chemistry with Lauren Buglioli that he has with Lynn Herring
